To ask how many bras you wear in a week?

Please help settle an argument? My 13 yr old has just asked me for more bras, she has 6 (plus a sports bra) so 7, and likes to change them and wash them after each wear. I think this is utterly ridiculous, I change mine every 2/3 days, she thinks i’m minging.

To complicate it she’s a small back but already in an F cup so it’s quite difficult and expensive to get a bra for her. So just wondering what everyone else does?

I am 32 FF/G wear a shockabsorber they are £35-£50 depending where you get them from

hate bra shopping its the bane of my life

Foodylicious · 24/03/2018 21:50

Figleaves sales are worth checking out

SirVixofVixHall · 24/03/2018 21:53

Every other day here too, unless I’ve been hot and sticky in humid weather . I am a chilly mortal and very rarely sweaty though.

BanjoStarz · 24/03/2018 22:10

Every other day, any more that that and I get the most terrible reaction/excema type rash under my arms which takes weeks to clear.

Took me ages to work out what it was when I was a poor student with no washing machine in the house 😷😷

GoBigOrange · 24/03/2018 22:17

I currently own four bras, and typically hand wash them three at a time, so I can wear a fresh one every day. If I was a more 'standard' size and could get cheap bras I would own more, but at 32J my options are rarely inexpensive.

MrsDilber · 24/03/2018 22:22

Probably every 5 days, knickers twice daily.

Idobelieveinfairies2018 · 24/03/2018 22:50

@kitten my bad I worded it wrong. I find those who wear only 1 pair of pants a day minging. I put a clean pair on in the morning and then a 2nd clean pair after my evening shower which I then remove as I get into bed.

liz70 · 24/03/2018 23:37

Oh, yes, I should have said twice a day for pants - fresh pair for night time, so twice in 24 hours.

Daifuku9 · 25/03/2018 02:40

She has enough regular ones for near a week already though. If it’s a matter of washing them, she can wash them or buy a few bra savers to wash them in the machine.

"
Also to share some bra woe - the best sports bra I found is from lululemon and costs £58"

EXACTLY...................this is why i couldnt excersise properly when i started losing weight again 5 years ago.

MiniMum97 · 25/03/2018 03:27

2-3 a week is perfectly sufficient. It is wasteful of energy to change clothes unnecessarily. I swear a lot due to health issues and have to change my tips daily or they would smell. But bras last me 2-3 days so I can't see why anyone else needs to change them more frequently!!!

Thursdaydreaming · 25/03/2018 05:03

I see this two ways.

Personally I wear bras for a week easily. And I wear the bra to bed as well so I'm basically wearing it 23.5 hours a day. I appreciate some may find that horrid but I think it's fine. Since the bra doesn't touch under the arm pit I find it doesn't smell. So I could easily get by with 2 bras, although I have more.

OTOH, my parents didn't buy me many clothes and didn't do laundry often, so as a kid I would have to rewear socks, and my school uniform (only had one) would be washed once a term. It smelled bad and I was so embarrassed. I should have just washed it myself obviously but as a young kid that didn't occur to me (I wasn't the smartest kid I guess).

So I don't know. Maybe just buy one more to keep the peace? One for every day of the week, surely she'll never run out.

punchyKate · 25/03/2018 05:43

I agree with your daughter.

At least one a day. If we're going out in the evening then I change.

rizlett · 25/03/2018 05:45

ebay underwear outlets often have small back/large cup sizes at good prices op - however I agree with most here that 7 is enough especially if they are all equally comfortable.

rizlett · 25/03/2018 05:48

I like the idea of using 'Soak' but the other day I handwashed my sports bra in shower gel - gave it a quick rinse - smelled amazing. Smile

trixymalixy · 25/03/2018 05:48

I have 3 bras that fit and 2 sports bras.

It’s so wasteful to change every day.

lljkk · 25/03/2018 08:28

I wonder if the armpit worry depends on cup size. There's > 4 inches gap from my bra to the centre of my 'pits. B/c of the bra intervention 'scoop' instruction I understand that a lot of women have a lot of boob under their arms, but I don't; I only have ribs there. Even if I lie flat on my back my (very floppy) bosoms don't manage to ooze over the side ribs. Just not big enough boobflesh. Besides, with scooping the boob flesh should all be out front which is where the bra support will be, right? I thought all out front was the ideal?

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/03/2018 08:35

I've just felt, no boob flesh under my arms.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/03/2018 08:37

rizlett how about large back, small cup sizes?

RadioGaGoo · 25/03/2018 08:37

Massive overacting to suggest that OP is 'slagging off' her DC online Hmm

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/03/2018 08:38

I'd surely only need 2 as I do a wash every day.

rizlett · 25/03/2018 09:04

I'm not sure of that PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks but I've always found one or two in my size by typing the size and the style I like in the search bar.

OriginalGeordie · 25/03/2018 09:59

Bluntness above all else this is a support forum! I have come on here for a bit of lighthearted relief and to canvass opinions.

I am not choosing to specifically “come online to slag her off”, I am venting. I read another thread this morning where you accuse someone else of slagging people off online. This seems to bother you so why come here, genuinely asking? Are we not allowed to vent frustrations?

For those saying they have to wear for ages as only have a few, you must wash them at some point so why not wash each evening and they'll be dry for the day after. If you have two it would work fine.

fruityb · 25/03/2018 10:22

Because I don’t feel the need to wash it daily!
