Even though sequels are hardly ever as good and an unresolved ending can be the most powerful - if you could have the original author/scriptwriter/director/cast etc - for which story would you love to know what happened next??

I'd say:

  • gone with the wind
  • to kill a mockingbird
  • dirty dancing
  • pretty woman

ABCFamily it is promised next year! (I'm not holding out much hope though).

haverhill · 25/03/2018 20:37

I liked Master and Commander. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger as a sequel was planned but it was never made.

TyrannosaurusBex · 25/03/2018 20:48

Another vote for I Capture The Castle - would love to know what became of Cassandra and her family, although not fussed about Rose tbh. And also The Last Summer Of You And Me by Ann Brashares.

Mrspotter12 · 26/03/2018 19:10

Zombieland.

cunningartificer · 26/03/2018 20:10

Death comes to pemberley was one of the worst books I have ever read, sequel or not. Don’t look there if you want more Jane Austen!

LauraChant · 26/03/2018 20:20

I’d like there to have been a sequel to The Changeover by Margaret Mahy to see how Laura and Sorry get on.

Snowmagedon · 26/03/2018 20:36

My first thought was gone with the
wind!!

Snowmagedon · 26/03/2018 21:00

Yy to capture Castle and yes Thomas was getting interesting

UsedtobeFeckless · 26/03/2018 21:01

Firefly - Serenity was fine but l want more! Song Of Ice And Fire - just write the damn thing you timewasting so-and-so, never mind about the flipping Targarians!
Yes, yes to more Merlin. I want a proper JKR novel of Fantastic Beasts, too ...

slightlyglittermaned · 26/03/2018 21:16

Yes for more Firefly/Serenity I want to see Zoe finding happiness again...

Also yes for District 9 sequel - do they come back? How does the Earth react to no-longer-destitute aliens...

And another one: The Breakfast Club

lookatthesizeofmylaundrypile · 26/03/2018 22:35

Dirty Dancing 2 is not a sequel. It's set in a different time period, different characters etc. It's actually a true story too. If you're expecting a sequel, you'll think it's crap. But if you can accept it's a separate film, it's worth a watch.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/03/2018 22:44

I quite like endings that leave you guessing what might have happened as that is how life is unpredictable at times

But I would love to know how Eleanor Oliphant is doing just to know that all is ok and she is happy don’t want to write any more as don’t want to spoil the book for others

FitzFoolFoveverInTheNighteyes · 27/03/2018 10:12

Sally Beauman's "Rebecca's Tale" is a great sequel to D du M's Rebecca.

And although a bit cringey Linda Berdoll's sequels to pride and prejudice are fun and plenty of sex!

so may 'happy ever afters' that i want to see what happens next!

I would like both the harry potter prequel - james and Lilly at school. or the sequels of harry and ron's kids at school. but also like the other suggestion of the 'return to normality' after the end of HP.

brokenshoes · 27/03/2018 10:17

I really wanted to continue to follow the theatre troop's journey in Station 11.

noblegiraffe · 27/03/2018 10:30

I’d like a sequel to John Wyndham’s The Chrysalids. The story was only just starting! Did Michael and Rachel make it to Sealand? What did they do to Petra? Is her ability to read minds not just think-together the next step in evolution?

peacheachpearplum · 27/03/2018 11:25

I love John Wyndham's books, all of them, but agree that a sequel to The Chrysalids would be great. I fear he has been dead too long for us to get one though.
