Even though sequels are hardly ever as good and an unresolved ending can be the most powerful - if you could have the original author/scriptwriter/director/cast etc - for which story would you love to know what happened next??

I'd say:

  • gone with the wind
  • to kill a mockingbird
  • dirty dancing
  • pretty woman

@BollySBK I did love Serenity - I just love the whole verse really and wanted it to go on forever!

SparkwoodAnd21 · 24/03/2018 12:25

Thanks PrincessLen, I may or may not check it out....!

LegallyBrunet · 24/03/2018 12:33

I want an eight Harry Potter, set immediately after the Battle of Hogwarts that let's you know how everybody moves on with their lives and how the Wizarding World returned to normal.
Also more Merlin because I'm a huge fan of the source material and Arthur died way to soon

Megthehen · 24/03/2018 13:07

Yes - love this film (and book) - so want to know what happened next, how the two main characters developed, children, mum in Ireland and the man left behind. The ending is magnificent in the film..love the way the brother sees her first..

Megthehen · 24/03/2018 13:10

Meant to say Brooklyn Blush

Vitalogy · 24/03/2018 13:15

love the way the brother sees her first.. Yes, I noticed that, had a soft spot for her too by the looks of it Shock, see, another storyline for this new series. Smile

RebeccaBunchLawyer · 24/03/2018 23:38

Muriel’s Wedding,
The Sound of Music,
Pretty Woman- Emmy Rossum would be fab as Viv,
Sex and The City 3- I even have the storyline where Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda go on a road trip to distribute the ashes of dearly departed Samantha- a bit Thelma and Louise!
Thelma and Louise, where they magically lived and are now on the run again!
Amelie,
Random bunch but I am absolutely knackered so that could explain it!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 25/03/2018 10:36

@SinisterBumFacedCat. There are loads of narnia books, before and after the LTW&TW series. I enjoyed that particualar set more but you do find out what happens to the children.

lessthanBeau · 25/03/2018 11:36

As a young adult I loved the flowers in the attic series, they did a prequel told from the grandmothers side, I always wanted a book written from corrinnes perspective, I want to know her true feelings about what she was doing/did.

elQuintoConyo · 25/03/2018 14:37

There was a sequel written to Rebecca by Susan Hill. Big fan of hers, but gound the book lacking. I didn't finish it imr and i can't remember much of it now.

Wide Sargasdo Sea is a FABULOUS prequel to Jane Eyre. Sorry, digressing!

TheHungryDonkey · 25/03/2018 14:49

The Tiger Who Came to Tea. So many questions left unresolved. Who was the Tiger, where did he come from and where did he go? No backstory or anything.

KingscoteStaff · 25/03/2018 15:03

Not Now Bernard. What does the monster do next?

GerdaLovesLili · 25/03/2018 15:10

Jasper Fforde's "Shades of Grey". He used to say there would be a sequel but it wasn't happening as quickly as he'd like, but now he has gone ominously quiet about it :-(

KingscoteStaff · 25/03/2018 17:23

He PROMISED there would be a sequel! It had a title and everything!

What’s he up to at the moment, anyway? Can we go round and stage an intervention?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/03/2018 17:36

YY to all the Antonia Forest fans on here. I spent most of my spare time between thd ages of 10 and 13 devising sequels in my head, starring myself as Lawrie. I once read a thread I think here on MN where someone said they had never realised that Nicold was the one you were supposed to admire, not Lawrie! Me too! I really liked Spring Term and thought it was as good as you could hope for. I really hope Sally Hayward does another one.

madamedepoppadom · 25/03/2018 17:40

I Capture The Castle (the book more than the underwhelming film) did she ever settle down with either of the men in her life, or someone else? And I want to know more about Thomas when he was older - he was getting very interesting towards the end.

ClaudiaWinklepants · 25/03/2018 17:49

Another one who was left wanting more after watching Brooklyn. How did their lives turn out? I agree, it would make for a great mini series with countless storylines (them, the girls at the guest house etc etc)

The80sweregreat · 25/03/2018 17:51

Cinderella: the divorce.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 25/03/2018 18:24

Legally - I'd like a Harry Potter prequel!

Littlebelina · 25/03/2018 19:19

I really don't want a Truman Show sequel. I love the film and thought it end perfectly. I think a sequel could well ruin it.

GerdaLovesLili · 25/03/2018 19:25

Kingscote* yy to an intervention. It's not the first time it's been suggested.

ABCFamily · 25/03/2018 19:42

Has Jasper Fforde definitely ruled out a sequel to Shades of Grey? That book was great.

It might not warrant a full sequel, but I would love an update on the people whose lives Adrian Nicole LeBlanc followed in 'Random Family' (a non-fictional account of two women growing up in the Bronx during the 90s/early 00s). I want to hear that Coco and her children are doing well.

ABCFamily · 25/03/2018 19:53

Gerda - I just checked, and I've had that title on my Goodreads 'Want to Read' list since 2013!

I still hold out hope...

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 25/03/2018 20:04

The Sky 1 series You, Me and the Apocalypse. There was talk of a series 2 but it seems to have been quietly shelved.
