Even though sequels are hardly ever as good and an unresolved ending can be the most powerful - if you could have the original author/scriptwriter/director/cast etc - for which story would you love to know what happened next??

I'd say:

  • gone with the wind
  • to kill a mockingbird
  • dirty dancing
  • pretty woman

Another vote here for "The Mirror And The Light ".Won't be holding my breath though. It's not going to be this year.

Anything by Terry Pratchett-. I'm glad he's not suffering with dementia anymore but I so miss the joy of a new Pratchett book

A sequel to the us version of "the girl with the dragon tattoo". I thought the Swedish version was better but didn't think the sequels to that did the books justice. I still enjoyed the Daniel Craig version and would have loved to seen what they did with the next two

I used to be a teacher . I recall using s book called the Lion and the Unicorn I think about an evacueee with the 6/7 year olds I taught. We had a brilliant week and at the end an early readier who really struggled with enjoying books put up her hand and asked if there was a sequel. A great teaching moment. Never forget that.

Mrsemcgregor · 23/03/2018 18:42

Upstartcrow right after he’s done a decent ending to The Langoliers Wink

gabsdot · 23/03/2018 18:42

Scarlett is great. It's a real bodice ripper. Totally ridiculous.
I would like to see a sequel to P&P too. Death at Pemberly is pretty good.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 23/03/2018 18:44

The Lion Witch and Wardrobe chronicles, I thought Susan was discarded harshly at the end for growing up. I'd like to know what happened to her, I think she might have got knocked up an American airman.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2018 18:46

Definitely the end of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Nakedavenger74 · 23/03/2018 18:53

The Truman Show

Vitalogy · 23/03/2018 19:04

Oh yes Nakedavenger74

I wish there had been another few series of Terra Nova.
I'm not calling it quality tv but I really enjoyed this and it got cancelled after the first series!

Katedotness1963 · 23/03/2018 19:09

Can I cheat and say a TV show?

Home Fires. Absolutely brilliant, cannot believe they cancelled after two series, it had such potential for a long run...

annandale · 23/03/2018 19:09

None. I've never recovered from the sequel to Marianne Dreams, which I read as an adult and is so bad it ruined the first book for me.

Hygge · 23/03/2018 19:19

I wish they'd done a second series of The Fades, which I think was on BBC3 until the rotten sods decided not to bother. I need to know what happens.

I'd like to know what happened after the end of Z for Zachariah.

PuffinsSitOnMuffins · 23/03/2018 19:19

Agree with Shades of Grey - Jasper Fforde wrote it as the first book in a trilogy / series but then never wrote the sequel!

mmack · 23/03/2018 19:20

I hated Scarlett but I liked Rhett Butler's people. GWTW is my favourite book but I never liked the bit where he is supposed to have shot a slave and had no remorse. Rhett Butler's people explains that in a way that makes you like him even better.

ISpeakJive · 23/03/2018 19:21

Labyrinth for sure!

TheWitchwithNoName · 23/03/2018 19:26

There are graphic novels as a sequel for labyrinth, worth checking on eBay.

I’d like a sequel to District 9, poor Vickers.

peacheachpearplum · 23/03/2018 19:28

I was so excited to see there was a sort of sequel to Gone With the Wind. Looked it up at the library and reserved it. Is it really terrible? If so that is 60p wasted!!!!!

peacheachpearplum · 23/03/2018 19:29

mmack, you've given me hope.

peacheachpearplum · 23/03/2018 19:31

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, I so wanted them to survive the jump and get away to a wonderful new life.

Tenementfunster · 23/03/2018 19:50

Titanic

HildaZelda · 23/03/2018 19:51

Four Wedding and a Funeral. Did they all live happily ever after? Did Charles come to his senses and think "Fuck, I picked Andie McDowell when I could have had KST"

bookmum08 · 23/03/2018 20:00

I have always wanted to know what happened to Margaret and her friends - as in Judy Blume's 'Are you there God?'. They would be about 60 years old now!!

bookmum08 · 23/03/2018 20:03

Oh and more Judy Blume. She wrote three friends. The first book was from Stephanie's POV, the second was Rachel, but it always felt there should of been a third book from Alison!!
