This is a quote of Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon has a number of quotes when Read through the lens of Trump are eerily prescient. Napoleon wasn’t of the same political bent as Trump necessarily, and he was certainly more cerebral, but the lust for power is the same.

Despite the rumors, I'm still fully engaged with my work at Facebook. It's true that my role did change. I'm currently spending more time exploring emerging security risks and working on election security.

Yup, just what I've been saying. We're waaayy beyond Watergate territory now. And I still say that jack shit will be done about it unless/until the Dems take back the house.

One of the main differences between now and Watergate is that during the 70s, politicians (even Republican ones) may have had their 'agendas' BUT they still believed that they had an overriding moral duty to the People and to the Country. Now the only thing they believe in is the Almighty Dollar and preserving their own Power Base (i.e. mega donors). The rest of us can go straight to hell for all they care.

Also something to watch out for: April 15 is North Korea’s Day of the Sun - the anniversary of Kim Il-Sung’s birth. It’s the equivalent of Christmas in a way in North Korea and, accordingly, a day of celebrations. We know how KJI likes to celebrate. Hmm

BREAKING: New details about Aleksandr Kogan's research. A different personality quiz he was using to pull @facebook data via its API in St Petersburg in summer 2014. To measure - gulp - the "dark triad": psychopathy, narcissism, machiavellianism

That's summer 2014, when he was also pulling @facebook data for Cambridge Analytica. Summer 2014 when Cambridge Analytica was pitching to Lukoil. Summer 2014, when Robert Mueller's indicted Russians were starting to use the platform for "information warfare"..

Sound familiar....?

Trump has weighed aloud in recent days to close associates whether to dismiss his lawyer Ty Cobb, who had pushed most strongly a strategy of cooperating fully with the special counsel investigation, NYT reports.
Trump’s lead lawyer, John Dowd, has contemplated leaving his post because he has concluded that he has no control over the behavior of the president, two people briefed on the matter tell NYT.

Can't people log into mumsnet using fb. Shouldn't we be raising this as an urgent concern? I'd like to know how much information is gained by fb by people logging in here? What permissions are executed?

Saw a play called "Frozen" (non-Disney!) - very intense play about a missing child.

I should say, I finally got round to watching the whole segment of Avenatti on Ari Melber and I underestimated Claude Taylor’s propensity to disinformation - despite being easily verifiable he still put out something presented as being true when it wasn’t clear cut at all. Avenatti said that they possessed documents that they weren’t releasing yet so making the leap to saying there are naked photos of trump is a huge stretch.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 20/03/2018 07:20

oybbk hopefully mumsnet have mapped their data and created a data log of what data is held and who it’s shared with in preparation for GDPR in May so will be able to answer those questions easily.

I deleted my Facebook account a year ago but never used it to log in to other things as it seemed too instrusive. Have refused to get the hive and other smart-tech for the home (I find the idea of Alexa pretty scary but I might just be a Luddite) for the same reasons.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/03/2018 07:20

I'm going to start a thread in site stuff about fb and our data....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/03/2018 07:22

Pain it's not a question of how much info mn hold (which is a separate and important issue) but how much fb hold via people logging in through them. Depending on the answers they may not know.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 20/03/2018 07:22

Well yes, logging in via another app, espciallly FB is v dangerous, Many apps use this, including ones like My Fitness Pal and Fitbit where you willingly give away medical information.

And even if you don't log in using FB, you can be linked by name and a digital fingerprint.

Use tracker blockers, avoid apps as much a possible on your phone and don't use your real name unless you have to. Apss collect all manner of information from your phobe, even when it is not necessary for the functionality of the app. Check the permissions before you dowmload. As a rule, pay for the app rather than using a free one - your data is not free!

And use a VPN for super safety. And get off FB, it's evil

I have been banging on about on here this for years but kept being called paranoid, so I gave up warning people

And don't get me started on Elexa and google

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 20/03/2018 07:24

northwest sounds like it provided just the right sort of light, comic-relief breather needed from the horrors of real life Wink

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 20/03/2018 07:26

oybbk but wouldn’t mumsnet need to know how they are sharing your information with other parties? So if you log in using Facebook, mumsnet would need to know what information they are sharing with them and what Facebook can glean from your mumsnet activity? I thought that was part of the purpose of GDPR?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 20/03/2018 07:30

Under GDPR you have the right to request information being removed which means that anyone you provide it to needs to know exactly what information they hold about you and who they share it with. If logging in with Facebook allows Facebook to gather extra information about you from mumsnet, mumsnet would need to know so if you wanted wrong data correcting or deleted etc, they could follow their pathways and inform everyone who holds that specific data about you that originated from mumsnet.

That was my understanding is GDPR (although remember that I considered watching the fake news committee interviewing nix CPD so my threshold of knowledge probably isn’t that high Grin)
