Something extraordinary just happened on the floor. Republicans closed the vote while democrats were yelling they wanted to vote. Steve Womack — budget chair — was in the speakers chair. Rule passes 211-207. This on top of less than 24 hours to read a bill.

This is rare. Majority usually gives the minority time to vote. Instead, knowing they may vote no, they pushed through before 11 Dems could cast their ballot.

Republicans say this isn’t a big deal. Dems were trying to delay the vote, they say. I watch the floor every day and I’ve not seen that.
