This friendly smiling Facebook post is exactly the kind of image the media would also have used if it was a Muslim terrorist. Right?

White male privilege is getting better treatment from media as a terrorist—than unarmed black Christians & children do as victims.

As the Austin bomber sensed that authorities were closing in on him on Tuesday night, he took out his cell phone and recorded a 25-minute video confessing to building the explosive devices -- but didn't explain why he targeted his victims, interim Austin police Chief Brian Manley said.
"It is the outcry of a very challenged young man talking about challenges in his life that led him to this point," the interim chief said. "I know everybody is interested in a motive and understanding why. And we're never going to be able to put a (rationale) behind these acts," Manley told reporters Wednesday night.

Again, how the police chief talks about a young white man who terrorizes a city. Remember how they talked about innocent Black children like Trayvon, Tamir or young men like Freddy Gray. Police: Austin bomber left 25-minute confession on phone
I believe passionately in acknowledging the humanity of those who commit even terrible crimes. Reading this police chief’s empathy for this young white man highlights the awfulness - the plain awfulness - of the persistent refusal to extend this empathy to young Black people.
The ease with which total innocents like Trayvon, or young Black ppl protesting against injustice are labeled thugs. The way young Black ppl who make mistakes & break the law (at not nearly this level). And the words that are used to dismiss their turmoil, struggle, fears.
We have to confront this. The unwillingness to extend the very minimal assumption of humanity to Black young people. If you can’t do it you shouldn’t wear a shield and carry a gun. If this police chief can do it for Conditt, every ofcr should be able to do it for Black young ppl.
The answer is not to regard the Austin bomber as an animal. But to look at a Black young person as a human child with a story. It shouldn’t be hard.

As a human being who is not a white man, I can't imagine getting this much good faith, ever. And I've never tried to murder people with bombs.

This is cold blooded execution. They shot #StephonClark 20 times, didn’t call an ambulance, & sat asking each other if they were okay.
Meanwhile an unarmed Clark died in his own backyard.😓
