This is a quote of Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon has a number of quotes when Read through the lens of Trump are eerily prescient. Napoleon wasn’t of the same political bent as Trump necessarily, and he was certainly more cerebral, but the lust for power is the same.

Fox News analyst quits, rips network as a "propaganda machine"" in letter to colleagues

A Fox News analyst quit in a scathing letter that accused the network of degenerating into “a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration.”

Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, a strategic analyst for Fox News, said he was leaving the network and laid out his reasoning in a fiery letter to colleagues, obtained by BuzzFeed News.

“Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers,” Peters wrote. “Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed.”

He went on: "In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration. When prime-time hosts — who have never served our country in any capacity — dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller — all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of “deep-state” machinations — I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove. To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit".

Peters continued in that vein before signing off: “As our president’s favorite world leader would say, ‘Das vidanya’” — Russian for “goodbye".

OYBBK and anyone else interested, JustineMumsnet has posted a reply on the thread below about Facebook privacy concerns in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica events. This is of particular interest to me as I use MN entirely via FB - this is because the ads on the mobile version made it impossible for me to use on my tablet, even with adblocker. I kept getting errors and could only browse for a minute before it froze. The FB version is great though ... I think.

A Kansas chemistry teacher whose arrest and attempted deportation by immigration agents fueled national outrage over the Trump administration's treatment of immigrants has been freed — at least for now.

A U.S. District Court judge in Kansas City on Tuesday ordered the release of the teacher, Syed Ahmed Jamal, from jail while the father of three awaits a decision from an immigration board on his case.

Interesting tidbit now that Rohrabacher's back in the news: Felix Sater told me last week that Rohrabacher was given that Russia-Ukraine "peace plan" by the Ukrainian MP Andrei Artemenko last January. Rohrabacher spox hasn't responded to my q's about it.
Rohrabacher “talked with at least five different Ukrainians, all of them anti-Russian, who had proposed some sort of peace plan,” spokesman tells me. “He found the plan interesting and talked it up with colleagues and others,” but never with the White House, spox says.

Russian denial of secret nerve agent program seemingly contradicted by own state media

abcnews.go.com/International/russian-denial-secret-nerve-agent-program-seemingly-contradicted/story

The exclusive interview published by the news agency, RIA Novosti, had sought to highlight a Russian argument that the type of nerve agent used to poison Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia Skripal could have been produced in Britain, but it seemed to inadvertently undercut denials by senior Russian officials that the program developing Novichok agents ever existed.

The man, Leonid Rink, said he had overseen a team at a Soviet government lab in central Russia developing the nerve agents. Rink said he had worked for 27 years at the state Scientific Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology in the town of Shikhani. In the article, RIA Novosti refers to Rink as “the creator of Novichok.”

“Novichok was worked on by a big group of specialists in Shikhani And Moscow,” Rink told RIA Novosti. “And the end results were very good.”

Last Thursday, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov had said categorically there had never been a Novichok program. [...]

"DO NOT CONGRATULATE," national security advisers wrote in Trump's written briefing ahead of call with Vladimir Putin. Trump congratulated. The notes said to condemn the attack of an ex-Russian spy in London with a nerve agent. He did not.

Krasner looks promising, for sure cozie. Whenever Sally Yates has been asked what happens to criminal justice reform in the Trump/Sessions era, she always points out that it has been taken up state by state in bi-partisan ways and does not depend upon Federal support.
