What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

I haven't been silent at all. You clearly missed my post where I said I totally endorsed the widespread condemnation now that he's actually been charged. Sorry you found my refusal to join the witch hunt based on pure speculation and conjecture so offensive.

WowLookAtYou · 22/03/2018 15:56

Yes, we had loads of posters on this and other threads saying how he "looked" dazed and out-of-it in the newspaper photographs. And even in the very brief video footage, it's not easy to be so sure.

Trial by social media. Yes, it looked likely that he was under the influence, but it's for the authorities to determine exactly what went on.

drivenmecrazy

I really like the last paragraph of your post.

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 22/03/2018 16:25

He could become a great inspiration and a force for good if he truly learns what a bloody lucky man he is to be afforded another chance.

Bollocks. He got convicted for driving at 127mph and banned, and that taught him precisely nothing, because here he is again, at the wheel of a car behaving like an arsehole. How many chances does he think he's entitled to?

@WowLookAtYou which they did when he failed both the roadside breathalyser and the one at the station.

ferriswheel · 22/03/2018 18:13

But how can lawyers negotiate a lesser charge? If that is indeed what happened?

HelenaDove · 22/03/2018 18:42

an example of fame and our celeb culture being used for good.

Ah sorry washing - I think we did misunderstand each other.

My point was simply that the drink driving is far worse but even if he had tested clear, he'd still have been driving like an arsehole!

Completely agree with you on drink driving. I did a stint in personal injury law acting for car insurers. Lots of the cases were so very sad, but the ones caused by drunk drivers were rage inducing. So pointless.

bastardkitty · 23/03/2018 09:04

It's sickening!

raisedbyguineapigs · 23/03/2018 10:43

Yes that came up on mine too. Again posted by someone with two children! Even if you don't give a stuff about drink driving, he clearly came out of rehab well before he was ready the first time so now his fans are completely dismissing his illness so they can watch some crappy reality shows he presents? Talk about entitled!

LucilleBluth · 23/03/2018 13:26

Antagonism

HelenaDove · 23/03/2018 13:33

If that pops up in my fb feed i shall be saying exactly what i think.

SouthWestmom · 23/03/2018 13:51

Lucille

How do you know about the Sum investigating?

Bundlesmads · 23/03/2018 13:59

It looks like Lucille’s post comes from Popbitch. They have been doing blind items about this for a while.

I suspect fertility issues is the ‘semi-fictional’ story.

You can’t really blame his mates for going to his parties though can you?

Situp · 23/03/2018 14:03

Poor Dec. Maybe we can help by proposing alternative Ants to keep his career alive?

Worrell-Thompson for BGT anyone?

LucilleBluth · 23/03/2018 14:09

Yes it's from popbitch (no judging 😀). It is interesting though, drink drive aside why did no one around him get him any help sooner. Could the spilt with his wife, of which the statement to the press was very strangely worded be because she won't change her lifestyle.

If they are hosting parties and he's got a problem....she's seen with booze and fags. I am in no way blaming her btw, but could they have been enabling each other.

Right.... I'm off to read some high brow literature now.

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 23/03/2018 14:15

why did no one around him get him any help sooner.

Because he's an adult, and has moral agency. If he had a few hours lucid enough to do live telly, he could have sought help; he presumably wasn't incoherently drunk 24 hours a day. Why do rich white men manage to give the impression that other people, usually poorer women, are responsible for their own bad decision making? The main person who fucked up Ant McPartlin's career is Ant McPartlin.

LimonViola · 23/03/2018 14:19

Bang on CuboidalSlipshoddy.

I lost a parent to addiction, I'd be gobsmacked if someone dared to say 'why didn't anyone help?' when I did every single last thing I could to try and help her but, given that she was an adult and all that, short of straitjacketing her permanently I actually could not stop her from drinking or using.

It's so incredibly offensive.
