What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

I'm sitting in Costa and there's an elderly couple discussing this at the next table. The man is disgusted that a young child was hurt. I think that is what will harm Dec's image the most. I was involved in a bump last week with my dd in the car. She was so distressed by the collision and she's 9 (she was unhurt). I could actually swing for Dec for putting a 3 year old through this.
Also I noticed the morning shows on ITV were going very soft on Ant this morning. Wayne Rooney didn't get the same soft ride last year did he? I hate the way ITV protects its own.

clumsyduck · 19/03/2018 12:01

He will have to go to the police station to be formally charged that doesn't always happen straight away . I have read the article as it wouldn't load was he taken to hospital to be checked over ? The breathalyser reading alone isn't enough to convict - it's followed up by blood sample ( for example if the driver ends up in hospital ) or with a further breath test at the police station . With a blood sample the results will not be instant and he would be bailed and charged at a later date

So while I'm not saying he is definetley guilty the fact he has not yet been charged doesn't mean a whole lot either

Cuppaoftea · 19/03/2018 12:01

Thank god the little girl was physically ok. I imagine she'll be very anxious about travelling in a car for some time to come though.

I won't be surprised if there was more than excess alcohol in Ant's system. He visibly has still been a mess since returning from rehab.

If charged with drink driving I hope the Judge comes down hard on him to keep him off the road for as long as sentencing guidelines allow.

Dec can easily continue presenting ITV shows without Ant, he's looked the professional one holding everything together for a long time and would work well with a number of female ITV presenters.

Want to add that the way Ant's Wife Lisa has been treated by his PR team to make Ant look better through the divorce is a disgrace. I hope she's left alone now.

dayswithaY · 19/03/2018 12:02

I'm no fan of Wayne Rooney but hypocrite Piers Morgan gave him stick when he got done for drink driving, cute cuddly Ant - not a word. This will be managed by ITV desperate to protect their cash cow. He needs to go back to rehab and stay there.

StealthPolarBear · 19/03/2018 12:04

Miss Eliza it's ant
Glad your dd is ok

Posters like Bluelady always surprise me that their hearts can bleed so much for a privileged multi millionaire - and apparently not spare a drop for a 3 year old girl who will have been traumatised by a crash and having to go to hospital or her mother whom reports say had cuts and bruises to the face.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 19/03/2018 12:06

I don't watch This Morning and I can't bear piers Morgan - but there are newspaper stories about piers having to correct the TM reporter for getting ant/dec's names wrong, so they must have reported on it?

frankchickens · 19/03/2018 12:06

Wayne Rooney didn't get the same soft ride last year did he? I hate the way ITV protects its own.

Rooney has still got his very highly paid job, unlike most ordinary folk who are convicted of drink driving. I hate the football forgives anything because it's football.

Bluelady · 19/03/2018 12:06

My heart is not bleeding. Sorry you find the facts so offensive.

Backscratchesforever · 19/03/2018 12:08

I feel terrible for the others involved in the crash, I really do.

However addiction is a disease and obviously Ant has a problem. Seems he has swapped one for another

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 19/03/2018 12:09

It's not the facts I find offensive, Bluelady...!

clumsyduck · 19/03/2018 12:11

Yes but I think we can feel bad for ants addiction issues and still see that it was utterly selfish to risk the lives of others in the process . Yes the little girl is ok thank god but she might not have been .

As others have said he's a millionaire and famous . I imagine the bloke would only have to click his fingers and he'd be provided with any number of transport options that didn't involve him driving !

GabsAlot · 19/03/2018 12:13

he wasnt taken to hpsiptal so dont know why blood results wold take that long

police say theyre investigating the incdient he hasnt been charged

GabsAlot · 19/03/2018 12:14

*hospital

clumsyduck · 19/03/2018 12:15

Ah ok wasnt sure as the article wouldn't load for me . I think if they had been negative tho his pr team would be quick to get that out there!!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 19/03/2018 12:15

miss eliza dec wasn’t involved

Blankscreen · 19/03/2018 12:16

I hope the little girl will not be that truamtised as she has minor injuries but that is besides the point.

Drink driving is strict liability -if you're over the limit, you're guilty.

Thank goodness the poor little only girl only has minor injuries. She could have paralysed or killed had he been going a bit faster etc etc.

It would then be the same pathetic excuses and apologies wheeled out.

The only way itv will get rid of Ant is if there is a public back lash against thim and their viewing figures drop.

Shame on him.

I feel a bit sorry for Dec but they are both rich enough to not have to worry money and claiming benefits. I'm sure they'll survive.

AlmostDoneWithThis · 19/03/2018 12:19

Does anyone actually know the circumstances of this crash?
Lots of speculation, as far as I can see.
It could be that the driver of one of the other cars was at fault and that they drove into Ant. We don't know.
It could be that he had had half a pint at lunch and thought he was OK to drive, but that his meds had an effect on him. We don't know.

We. Don't. Know!!!!
So, let's wait and see what happens before we hang, draw and quarter him because we find his TV persona a bit irritating and would like to see him crash and burn.

whampiece · 19/03/2018 12:22

It could be that the driver of one of the other cars was at fault and that they drove into Ant.

All the reports say he lost control of his car at a roundabout and crashed into 2 vehicles

AlmostDoneWithThis · 19/03/2018 12:25

Yeah, and media reports are never wrong, are they?

Also, it could have been ice and snow at play here, too.

For the record, I'm not excusing him, IF it turns out that the crash was a direct result of him being drunk.

But I'm getting a little bit weary of all the hysteria over the 3yo and being traumatised for life and never wanting to travel in a car again and so forth. That's pure speculation and hype.

BaronessEllaSaturday · 19/03/2018 12:27

Once it's confirmed he was over the limit I'll condemn him with the rest of you but not until then. We don't yet know the truth.

LagunaBubbles · 19/03/2018 12:30

You mean Ant.

Madmarchpear · 19/03/2018 12:31

There are actually a number of named witnesses who have given their account to the press. They describe him as being unsteady on his feet, agitated and argumentative with the WPC. Prick.

MissEliza · 19/03/2018 12:32

Ant/Dec forgive me for getting them mixed up. The newspapers show a head on collision btw and whether or not the little girl was hurt, it will definitely have been traumatic for her. It's bloody scary when you hear and feel a car thudding into you, even for an adult. The driver who hit us was actually lovely and helped calm my daughter and me down but, god it's scary.

frankchickens · 19/03/2018 12:39

2 separate issues - did he cause the crash and was he drink driving.

He may be guilty of both, one or neither, but even if he didn't cause the crash, if he was drink driving he'll be (rightly) convicted of that.
