Talking about periods! Why do they need to be spoken about?

No one spoke about periods in my house. For about a year a used toilet roll as I was to embarrassed to tell anyone and I didn't get pocket money to buy my own sanitary towels.

My DD has body dysmorphic condition as she has anorexia, she can control her periods (also breasts and hip size) by being under a body fat percentage, she knows to within pounds the weight were she will restart periods. it does scare me that an answer to her problems could be sold in the form of testosterone.

Okay, so he has had periods when a girl, but he has opted to transition to male. His (or any man's) inclusion in such a campaign is simply confusing. Just why?
