'A transgender male model has been announced as the face of a new campaign aiming to challenge the stigma around periods.'

Just why?

I also thought we weren't supposed to acknowledge the sex related body parts / functions of trans people as it was triggering for them.

Exactly, so proving that 'trans' men are and will always be women. Just like 'trans' women are and will always be men.

The 'trans' community think it is great but it actually disproves their very point that 'trans' women are women.

Ta-daa.

"Research by the brand has found that just eight per cent of period related online content depicts the experience of the trans community, with 92 per cent viewing periods from a binary perspective only."

Let's just take the cunty people out of the picture altogether, that would be much better.
As they are interested in people who experience periods "indirectly" as well, they can include some TIMs for "glamour".

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 11:21

One of the comments

"So a 24 year old man who stopped having periods 7 years ago is the face of the campaign?"

Well of course.
I can't think of anyone else who would be suitable.

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 18/03/2018 11:42

Pink Parcel is a pile of shite, run by two men who are monetising menstruation through the medium of overselling san pro through a mist of pink. Fair play, they've got themselves a lot of publicity through exploiting transmen as well as women, while making a 'male' image suddenly the centre of a product which is overwhelmingly used by women.

The only good thing is that they have brought an excellent-sounding charity to my attention, which I will be donating to directly.

Anyone who hasn't seen the product test thread on their boxes by the way do take a look. They don't take much care with personal details or accurate marketing by the looks of it.

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 11:42

A bit dismayed by all the women on the thread who are saying there's no need for period campaigns / there's no stigma / just buy some sanitary stuff and get on with it / comparing it to farting.

There are many good reasons for campaigns around periods including in the UK and I for one am sick of the idea that we should "just get on with" and undertones of "not go on about it / talk about it" even if that is not what those posters think they have said. There has been a lot in the news recently about period poverty, girls not being able to afford / not wanting to ask for money for sanitary protection, girls missing school because of it.

Booboobooboo84 · 18/03/2018 11:52

Your right there @snibbleagain anything that draws attention to periods is a good thing. At any one time it affects a good proportion of population allowing for age factors. Anything that brings it to the forefront is good. I just can’t stand trans bashing. I despise it. There’s something so sneery about some of the posters and their attitudes towards it.

There is a current thread at this moment where a woman describes bleeding unexpectedly and heavily all over her office chair, only to be chastised for it by a PA.

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 12:01

You probably wouldn't like my previous posts then booboo.

It seems to me that old fashioned cunty style women are being replaced transpeople left and right.

if it's anything to do with fashion, looks, glamour, feminism, issues faced by women etc (except the directly biological stuff)- get a TIM.
If it's anything to do with biology - get a TIF.

Women have never been deemed to be decent witnesses to our own lives and experiences, deemed unqualified to speak. This effect where when it's to do with women, the last person you want to get is an old style cunty woman, is basic sexism.

EllieMe · 18/03/2018 12:02

How much more of this shit are women supposed to put up with?

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 12:06

That image on the video with the TIF (who does look male) front and centre with the two cunty women hips cocked as the decoration around is really jarring.

The fact that you know it is a woman to see them in this pose with the trophy females is unsettling, which just highlights how sexist it is when it's an old style dicky man in the middle. I think it's unsettling to see a womans charity pose them like this. That a TIF would be OK with having women draped over them as secondary ornamentation is also unsettling.

That picture is awful.

Threads like this keep appearing. I need to remember to link them when people are posting on other threads that people on mumsnet don't have a problem with trans people, just self ID. I have been told that numerous times and clearly lots on mumsnet do have a problem with trans people...

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 12:08

I have a problem with someone who we are told to accept as a man, front and centre of a period campaign, yes.

'Trans' people don't seem to have a problem earning money as their 'dead-gender' when it suits them - weird huh? And you are saying we are not allowed to discuss this?

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 12:10

I have a problem with a period campaign posing someone we are supposed to accept as a man fronting a campaign and puttng two cunty women posed decoratively like it's a fucking F1 trohpy ceremony or something, yes.

I personally have never said my only issue with any of this is self ID, I have been posting on this topic on MN for years.

catgirl1976 · 18/03/2018 12:12

He doesn't have periods because he's had hormone treatment.

It's a horrendous bit of virtue signalling. I am sick of being told men can have periods / get pregnant etc. No they can't. These things are exclusively female experiences.

AreYouTerfEnough · 18/03/2018 12:12

Oo, look, TIM’s can have periods too. How nice for them Hmm

SnibbleAgain · 18/03/2018 12:13

I've heard some TIMs can have babies, and are physically / reproductively no different to a cunty woman when she is not menstruating / or in a fertile part of her cycle.

AreYouTerfEnough · 18/03/2018 12:13

I wonder if they fancy having endometriosis, pregnancy scares and ivf too 🤔

VladmirsPoutine · 18/03/2018 12:13

Stop the world, I want to get off it, for it has officially gone mad.

catgirl1976 · 18/03/2018 12:14

The reason a lot of women have an issue with self-id is the appropriation of 'woman'. This is a prime example and does not point to people having an issue with 'trans people' it points to be people having an issue with this current TRA lunacy erasing the very concept of 'woman' and our rights and protections along with it.

You think they would use a post menopausal woman for this campaign?

NO!

that would alienate women less than using a TM for the campaign.

What do they think they are doing?????

NerrSnerr · 18/03/2018 12:15

@TERFragetteCity of course I'm not saying people can't discuss stuff. Anyone can discuss what they like. My point is that on the big long threads on the feminism board the are people saying 'it's not trans people WE have a problem with, it's self ID'. They need telling that there is no we.

LonginesPrime · 18/03/2018 12:19

A few PPs have suggested this is virtue signalling or orchestrated by the trans lobby. I think it's far more likely this is a marketing campaign featuring a trans person to gain maximum publicity. And it has obviously worked.

Also, since it's a general public awareness campaign, I think it plays on misogyny in acknowledging that men carry more authority in society generally - men, and many women, won't listen to a bunch of women saying 'let's talk about periods' and would be more likely to listen to a man.
