To think Coke and Pepsi aren't the same drink?

First world problems I know.

I find that most of the time, despite listing "Coca-Cola", takeaways etc almost always send Pepsi instead.

It's not as bad as sending the diet version (ugh) so I wouldn't complain, but it's still not as nice and isn't the same drink. I suppose they do it because it's cheaper.

Was in a restaurant once and the guy tried to convince us that coke and Pepsi are the same drink and are made with the exact same ingredients...!

Explain the different taste then.

I prefer Coca Cola over Pepsi and can definitely tell the difference.

Anybody remember the 'Pepsi Challenge' that used to appear on high streets in the 80's? You used to be given a sample of both and if you correctly identified Pepsi you got a free can.

Completely different, pisses me off when I ask for coke in a cafe or restaurant and they bring out pepsi. I always send it back and say I asked for coke.

I prefer (diet) pepsi to (diet) coke but like both... but they taste completely different. Yanbu OP they’re not the same!

I think it's Pepsi that has a slight citrus additive to it. Both cola drinks. Both taste different & as pp said, if you ask for coke you should be informed it's Pepsi... & they shouldn't serve Pepsi if they're listing Coca Cola/Coke!

I did the Pepsi challenge in the 80's I preferred the Coke even then

Really comment for restaurants pubs etc to serve Pepsi rather than Coke but I’ve never come across anywhere listing Coke on its menu if it serves Pepsi.

I prefer pepsi as I think it's not as fizzy as coke.
I've just realised I've had neither since Christmas and quite fancy one now.

Coke seems much too sweet these days, so I’m a Pepsi fan (not that I drink either as I’m not good with caffeine)

Pepsi tastes more of cola nuts, which is why many people prefer it. Coke is sharper and more acidic, Pepsi is rounder and smoother.

Dont get me started on cream soda.

I much prefer coke to Pepsi but in my shop I sell Pepsi as it is significantly cheaper! Definitely a difference although still sell lots of Pepsi!

but I agree with you that the menu should just say 'cola'. that gives the shop the freedom to buy whatever they can get cheapest/most convenient without misleading customers.

Very different! Pepsi is rank, and Diet Coke is like liquid heaven. I'm addicted obviously lol

We sell cans of pepsi at work in a clearly visible fridge, the amount of people who ask for a 'coke' never flinch when I say it's cola -use your eyes!-. I think some people use it as a generic term for a fizzy cola drink.
Same with Fanta/tango/7up/sprite.

Pepsi is vile. Diet coke all the way for me. They definitely do not taste the same.

Coke Zero and Diet Coke are the same drink though...

I like both and both taste entirely different to each other.

I've done the blind taste test and could work out coke, pepsi, diet coke, pepsi max, coke zero, cherry coke, cherry pepsi max, cherry diet coke and a supermarket version of diet coke (didn't know which supermarket but knew it wasn't 'real' coke or pepsi branding. I much prefer pepsi max to diet coke.
