To have had enough of mermaids, unicorns and rainbows being everywhere!

That’s it really. I am fed up of them. They are cliched and annoying and used to sell (cheap tacky) products to gullible customers to fill their homes with more crap. I know I will get blasted by everyone saying it’s harmless fun but I am done with it. I just want to say no more! I could also add in owls, foxes/penguins and pugs for good measure.....

I know what you mean, I like it a bit at first, then you can’t move for kids clothes covered in unicorns. I do like a rainbow though, sorry.

Meh..my dd(10) loves pineapples and unicorns. The pineapple thing is just odd really, but can’t see the problem with unicorns and mermaids. They’ve always been around.

Kids in general seem to be crazy about unicorns at the mo and I think its rather sweet though a bit odd

I know what you mean but it does brighten up the shopping experience, and I'm rather partial to a flamingo! I'm fairly certain I saw a rainbow unicorn butter dish in asda the other day which I thought might be going a bit far though.

In my youth it was sunflowers, strawberries and dreamcatchers. I have also lived through bird cages, keys, owls, foxes...

Who decides on these things? Genuine question.

I love flamingoes and mermaids. But I’ve ALWAYS loved flamingoes and mermaids. And I’ve always loved rainbows too come to think of it.

So everyone is copying me.

I'm OK with real things, don't mind a flamingo and love a llama. The unicorn /mermaid thing is annoying. I wanted to buy some animal letters for dd's door but her name has a U in if and they had used unicorn.

Oh I remember dream catchers and sunflowers too! And dolphins around the same time. I felt like cherries were a ‘thing’ at one point too.

Trouble is rainbows and mermaids got appropriated for other causes (not heard of one for unicorns yet - or pineapples (other than there being one in every episode of Psych!), but I'm sure something will come along)

So you don't know if people just happen to like rainbows and mermaids, or if they are making a political comment on diversity.

Yes, ladybirds next. I went to a pottery painting thing recently and did ladybirds all over mine so I'm all set for that trend!
