I should have been a high powered lawyer but was not clever enough so have been in supply chain for 15 years.

OP posts:

Being a billionaire

ArchchancellorsHat · 16/03/2018 09:58

I think I would have made an excellent travel writer or maybe photojournalist. Alas, I am stuck in temping hell with no real idea wtf I can do to sort myself out. And I can't always manage to take decent pictures of the cat so photos are probably out. I'd rock teh travel though.

WickedLazy · 16/03/2018 10:05

I should have been an archeologist. I should be digging for treasure somewhere, using the latest imaging technology to see inside something ancient and magnificent, or staring at old scrolls until my eyes go blurry.

I dropped out of school too early, (dropped out if A levels in the second year), I had a mundane job that I hated, and just when I was ready to go back to redo my A levels (in the hopes of doing well enough to so the degree I wanted to do), I fell pregnant with ds. I'll do all that someday, hopefully, maybe as a volunteer or tourist, but not yet. Ds is still too young.

WickedLazy · 16/03/2018 10:06

*to do

midnightmisssuki · 16/03/2018 10:14

i should have been a radio DJ. I work in PR now.

bibliomania · 16/03/2018 10:31

Should have been an archaeologist, but my dad said to teenage me: "There's not much call for archaeologists round [name of village we lived in]".

I have no idea why my younger self thought this was a convincing argument. I didn't want to live in that village for the rest of my life, I don't live there now, and neither, in fact, does my dad.

The demand for profession x in that particular village is officially The Worst Ever Test of whether it's a good choice of profession.

I also think I should have been a doctor, a nurse, a police detective, and work for the UN on human rights

stressedoutfred · 16/03/2018 10:33

I'm a qualified nursery nurse, always wanted to be a midwife

I now do charity work Smile

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 16/03/2018 10:35

Pharmacist. Or pharmacy technician.

I'm an admin temp with over 10 years of low level laboratory experience

BillywigSting · 16/03/2018 11:26

Should have been an artist but also had that destroyed by my gcse art teacher (who said I couldn't choose akira toriyama as my artist to copy)

Picked up a paint brush for the first time in about ten years two weeks ago and it was properly wonderful. I was so happy and have churned half a sketchbooks worth of stuff since. Ten years of backlog to clear ya know!

I possibly should have been a physicist too but my maths isn't good enough. I'll stick to my telescope and watching sciency stuff on YouTube.

Trained to be a chef but the money is crap am a sahm until ds is in school (then will probably end up cooking in schools, not the cosy little cafe I had hoped for but one can always dream!)

UpstartCrow · 16/03/2018 11:28

I should have been a cowboy but was born in the wrong time, continent and sex.

OutyMcOutface · 16/03/2018 11:33

Well I was going to go to medical school and becomes some kind of doctor but then I moved to England so quickly switched into law school instead. I must admit I had rather made my peace with the idea of working in a medical environment (obviously never wanted to work but needs must). Not exactly looking forward to spending the rest of my life working in an office of a fully commercial setting but there aren’t really any other viable options in Britain (short of taking the risk to start a business) so i’ll just plod in until i’ve Saved enough to retire.

QuietWalking · 16/03/2018 11:36

I should have been a fashion designer, but thought scrap that, I'm better off doing something academic. So now I'm a psychology student doing an internship (that I hate) in human resources.

nickEcave · 16/03/2018 11:40

I should have been JK Rowling but I'm lazy and never had a good enough idea for a book.

Bubblebug1 · 16/03/2018 11:41

I should have been the next JK Rowling but instead am doing a Psychology degree

Spent my whole childhood "writing books" but hardly get time to write my essays for Uni, let alone anything creative now with 2 kids

MarthasGinYard · 16/03/2018 11:45

I like this thread I'm not alone

Or being James Herriot

PoppyFleur · 16/03/2018 11:51

I really should have been a Jedi. Or a sandwich designer.

IpanemaChica · 16/03/2018 11:55

I’m a scientist stuck in a dark room behind two enormous screens. I should have been a travel writer/tour guide for Hispanic countries.

Bramble71 · 16/03/2018 11:56

I should have been a window dresser.

Backscratchesforever · 16/03/2018 11:58

I want to be a lot of things... Florist, Family Law solicitor, Fiction writer, Youtuber maybe a makeup artist.

I have a chronic pain condition though so, I’m fucked.

UpstartCrow · 16/03/2018 11:59

Bramble71 they cant stop you. (Unless they catch you.)

doze931 · 16/03/2018 12:05

Wanted to b a teacher. Dropped out of uni when i met my hubby. Now work in a shop and do voluntary youth work

NobodysChild · 16/03/2018 12:06

I should be a psychic, solving murders and disappearances.

UpstartCrow · 16/03/2018 12:07

NobodysChild Are you psychic?

Kit2015 · 16/03/2018 12:17

I should be a eccentric owner of a magical children's bookstore. With hidden rooms and a tree in the middle...

Grumpbum · 16/03/2018 12:20

Owned a children’s book store or been a year one teacher
