Well indeed. But we have established that this “message” was originally in a song aimed at men and is now actually on a t-shirt sold to men, but we are still hand -wringing over the fact it might one day, hypothetically, be on a t-shirt for girls

I do think that we train girls to be compliant, "smile!", that it's important to be "pretty" etc, yes I do.

Some people think this is desirable in girls, or somehow "natural" and so obviously have no problem with it.

The Girl Guides have some eye opening stuff as well about life here for girls.

Basically some people see a tshirt as a tshirt and some people see it in the context of a whole lot of other stuff, and that is why the two sides will never agree.

There are loads of tshirts for little girls that you can say have dodgy messages on, I'd be with you, so would most people on this thread. People do tell men or boys to smile all the time. I work in hospitality and customers always say it to females and males.
