Did she regift my present?

This is a bit of an odd one.

It’s my birthday and I’ve just had lunch with my DM and DSis.

DSis gave me a gift which was lovely of her (I wasn’t expecting anything) but when I opened it, it was exactly the same gift I had given her at Xmas.

I must have looked surprised because she quickly said “please don’t think I’ve given you what you gave me. It’s just that I liked it so much that I thought you’d like one yourself”.

FWIW I’m not really fussed if she had recycled my gift to her back to me but AIBU to think it’s a bit odd?

Certain members of DH's family are terrible re-gifters. I think it's really offensive. Nothing says "I'm too tight to spend money on you and can't be arsed to choose something you'll actually like" than some regifted shite.

Still, it meant I no longer made the effort to find them nice presents, so it saved me a job.

Although when they gave my son a regifted toy that turned out to be broken and only good for the bin (they'd never opened the box but it had obviously been smashed to bits in transit) that was a new low.

Namethecat
Just accept this time around with a smile. But in the future ' mark ' an item in a small way so that you can check if it happens again.

I was going to suggest the same as Namethecat. (I like cats too :) )
