No. Not at all. It would probably have a devastating effect on the entire eco-system.

So Alexandr Kogan / Spectre also worked for St Petersburg University.

He informed his head of department at Cambridge University of a potential collaboration, per regs, but not his friends or colleagues at Cambridge University, and he left it off his CV (while including minutiae such as undergraduate prizes).

Cambridge Analytica, however, did know about his work at St Petersburg University: "We may want to either loop in or find out a bit more about the interesting work Alex Kogan has been doing for the Russians and see how/if it applies"

Christopher Wylie on Bannon (from that same link).

“Smart,” says Wylie. “Interesting. Really interested in ideas. He’s the only straight man I’ve ever talked to about intersectional feminist theory. He saw its relevance straightaway to the oppressions that conservative, young white men feel.”

I am so glad that a spotlight is finally being shone on this. Have been banging on about this (admittedly mainly on here Blush) for so long, as have lots of you, and it a relief that we might be able to have a national conversation about this. Perhaps we might actually try to investigate this (I know it would upend all the Brexiters so it's unlikely that we'll have a mueller or anything close to a thorough look at what happened re: brexit any time soon but I'll take whatever hope I can find)

Shameful but also unsurprising.

shareblue.com/trump-administration-secret-emails-civil-servant-sahar-nowrouzzadeh/

The Trump administration plotted the removal of a career civil servant with expertise on Iranian nuclear issues, newly uncovered emails now reveal.

'Following the lead of smear artists at conservative propaganda sites, the Trump administration tried to oust Sahar Nowrouzzadeh, an expert working at the State Department on Iranian issues. She also may have been targeted for this harassment due to her ethnicity, which would violate federal anti-discrimination laws.'

PSA: FBI Agents write down everything. Especially if it's w a person who is acting very hinky, the interactions are ethically suspect, and there is a good chance the party will deny what happened later. Oh, and contemporaneous written recordings carry a lot of evidentiary weight.

There was an even more detailed thread that I saw last night - will try to find it

PerkingFaintly · 18/03/2018 10:43

I'm losing track, lionheart! Where is Wylie saying that about Bannon and feminism?

THREAD: Why does it matter that Andrew McCabe wrote memos memorializing his conversations with Trump shortly after they happened?
More
1/ Minutes ago, the Associated Press reported that Andrew McCabe wrote memos memorializing his conversations with Trump shortly after they occurred. McCabe was the former FBI Deputy Director (and Acting Director) who was fired by Trump late last night.
2/ @Comey famously wrote memos of his conversations with Trump, which formed the basis of his testimony before a Senate Committee. His testimony sparked the appointment of Mueller and the obstruction investigation.
3/ So why do the memos matter? The conversations between Trump and McCabe were almost certainly not recorded, so the memory of the people in the conversations is the best record we have of what Trump said. If McCabe and Trump spoke alone, it’s McCabe’s word against Trump’s.
4/ FBI agents like McCabe are trained to write detailed memos of conversations so they can refresh their memory later. A memo written shortly after a conversation will be more detailed than unwritten memories years later, when the agent has to testify at a trial.
5/ The memos themselves would generally NOT be admissible in court. They would be used by McCabe to refresh his memory. He could also tell the jury that he wrote memos and was testifying after reviewing the memos.
6/ If the defense counsel suggested that McCabe’s memory wasn’t accurate or that he was fabricating what Trump said, the memos could be admitted into evidence. (It’s a rule called “prior consistent statement.”) The memos could also be used to refresh McCabe’s memory.
7/ But this is really big news for a different reason. The real news is that McCabe thought Trump said something so problematic that he believed it was important for him to write contemporaneous memos of their conversations.
8/ It is odd for a FBI Director or Deputy Director to write private memos of his conversations with the President. This news suggests McCabe thought that he might later need to testify about those conversations in court.
9/ This could mean even more evidence for Mueller to use against Trump as part of his obstruction investigation. The obstruction case against Trump is already strong, as I wrote last month in @POLITICOMag:

www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/01/26/mueller-trump-obstruction-of-justice-russia-216532

10/ At this point, it appears that Trump is unconcerned about potential liability, given his continued tweets attacking the FBI and DOJ. It remains to be seen what the consequences of his actions will be, but he continues to build an obstruction case against himself. /end

“The gays. She loved the gays. So did Steve [Bannon]. He saw us as early adopters. He figured, if you can get the gays on board, everyone else will follow. It’s why he was so into the whole Milo [Yiannopoulos] thing.”

Everyone focused on Trump melting down right now, and deservedly so. But the real story seems, to me at least, to be the continued absence of public concern from elected Republican leaders over what seems increasingly likely to be coming.

Roussette · 18/03/2018 13:24

Hell, he's so THICK. Mueller is a Republican, as is McCabe, Rosenstein etc etc

Desperation, the net is closing
