To think 31 is not too old to have a baby?

DH is adamant his personal cut off point is 30.

I think that's ridiculous, I think 30 is fairly young still!

DH is 26 in a few months.

If it wasn't for a lot of uncertainty surrounding my fertility, I think 32/35 would have been a lovely age for my 1st!

We have a baby DS, who I absolutely adore but I can't get my head around 31+ being too 'old' Grin

He's the unreasonable one, no?

Eh? The average age of a first time mother is 30 these days. I was 35 when I had DS2 - was the youngest by quite a way in my antenatal group and on the postnatal ward! Most friends haven't married or even thought about trying for babies until 35 in my circle. It's all about careers, home buying and actually meeting someone before that, in my own personal experience.

GettingStuffDone - keep an open mind about having more children! Not all only children feel it, and I know there are also advantages to only having one child, both for the parents and for the child, but it can be a bit lonely always and forever to be the only child. Also, as much as parents do not want to be a burden on their children as they age, it would take a pretty hard hearted child not to worry about their parents as they become more frail and potentially a bit demented. Being the only child worrying about this and feeling a responsibility for it is also a bit lonely. And siblings can be great, anyway! I like having relatives both very much like me and not like me at the same time, and love sharing childhood memories with them. We all felt very loved by our parents, not at all like we missed out on attention or time, and we learnt so much from each other, too.

He better not meet me, I'm 31 and my DH is 32 and we are about to have our first baby. Only a handful of our friends have kids too.

I met my DH at 35, married at 39, baby at 40. So no from me!

I would have liked to have earlier but that wasn't how my life panned out.
