AIBU to be offended by the sentiment of this!

Trinity66 · 07/03/2018 12:16

it is a bit sexist, 2 days off and your back to being the house slave Grin

Clandestino · 07/03/2018 12:16

I'd be kicking up the ass of whoever would present it to me as a great card.

PinkSnowAndStars · 07/03/2018 12:16

I think it’s quite sweet! If my 6 year old can only follow through with the little cards it’d be awesome.

SumThucker · 07/03/2018 12:18

I can't see anything wrong with it.

acquiesce · 07/03/2018 12:19

I would love this

Raven88 · 07/03/2018 12:20

I don't know how I feel about this. In my house me and my husband both do the house work. But for my older relatives and Mum it would be work because they don't get help from and seem to accept this.

Abetes · 07/03/2018 12:21

I think that it is fine but probably because we all made cards like this at school to give to our Mums one year.

Laiste · 07/03/2018 12:21

It's not very 2018 is it.

I think if the 'dust and vac' and the 'washing up' were replaced with other things like the cuddle or cup of tea or what ever it would be better.

You wouldn't get a fathers day card with 'let someone else do the cleaning today' on it.

Knittedfairies · 07/03/2018 12:23

I wouldn’t be offended. Not thrilled, but not offended either.

ChelleDawg2020 · 07/03/2018 12:25

Seems fine to me. It's not sexist to give a card like this to a mother on mothers' day. Perhaps both parents share household jobs equally, and the child is offering to take over when it's the mother's turn.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 07/03/2018 12:26

Pretty lame but under 10s would love it.

A1Sharon · 07/03/2018 12:27

It is completely crap that this exists, but for most women it is reality. The research and statistics back up that it is still women doing the majority of housework, whether they work outside the home or not.

Redrosebelle · 07/03/2018 12:29

Oh god it’s just a card! Confused

Coconutspongexo · 07/03/2018 12:31

Maybe it’s for single mums (single mum btw) and the children are offering to do housework etc for the day?can’t be arsed to be offended by a card tbh

BlackandWhitepostcards · 07/03/2018 12:31

I think it’s fine. I’ve made my husband similar vouchers for Father’s Day. We sure the housework and these vouchers would just give the one of us a break for a special occasion. It’s fine.
However I bet there aren’t many/any shop bought cards for dads with the same vouchers so I can see why you’d find it offensive.

BlackandWhitepostcards · 07/03/2018 12:32

Share not sure.

LiveLifeWithPassion · 07/03/2018 12:34

I think it’s fine for young kids but I wouldn’t be impressed with a teenager giving it to me.

Afternoon · 07/03/2018 12:34

It would be better if there were blank spaces to fill in the treats your mum would like.

CavoliRiscaldati · 07/03/2018 12:36

Can't see the problem with that one?

MysticFlyTrap · 07/03/2018 12:41

I personally love itSmile
In general, however much i will be bashed for it. Us women/mums are the ones that do the majority of the housework so having a day off is a treat really.
It's a nice card, do we have to put sexism on to everything

Mummysmaison · 07/03/2018 12:44

My brother once bought my mum a car that said 'you're like a mum to me'!! Her response....I should bloody hope so! Grin he had not read it!

Wordsmith · 07/03/2018 12:44

Most mothers' day cards are pretty appalling apart from the amusing ones to be honest. Would be interesting to see what the same card would say for father's day.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 07/03/2018 12:46

I'd love that, too! If you share housework with your OH, you still have housework to do, so you get not to do your share.

People just look for offence these days.

CheesyWeez · 07/03/2018 12:46

My teenage DD gave a birthday present like this to my DH. When he tried to cash in the tickets for free babysitting and tidying up her room she was OUTRAGED Grin

DataColour · 07/03/2018 12:48

It's sexist. Even my 9yr old DS would see that and question it.
