What the fuck? Russian spy poisoned in Salisbury?!

Name change Smile

So yesterday we went into town. As we were leaving we saw an air ambulance come down right where we were.

Got back to see that 2 people were taken ill, they thought drug related.

This morning, Salisbury A&E were shut down in a major incident, with up to 10 people contaminated by an unknown substance.

Several areas cordoned off in town.

This evening we find out that actually the man is a former Russian spy, and that poisoning is likely!

Jesus. Sleepy Salisbury.

So, DH has a hospital appointment tomorrow......would you go??

Biggreygoose · 05/03/2018 18:56

Err. Yes.

Unless your DH is a Russian spy he's probably fine.

DalekDalekDalek · 05/03/2018 19:00

Why wouldn't you go?

Sevendown · 05/03/2018 19:00

What is it with all these dead Russian spies in the uk?

whatishappeninginsalisbury · 05/03/2018 19:01

Haha Grin

I didn't really have an AIBU, so i just went with that.

Hopefully he isn't a Russian spy Grin

I thought it was a couple who had taken something they thought was heroin but wasn't?

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 05/03/2018 19:04

Probably involved in rigging the brexit and USA elections....

iklboo · 05/03/2018 19:04

It was a Fentanyl episode wasn't it?

whatishappeninginsalisbury · 05/03/2018 19:05

Yes, at first they thought it was fentanyl, which was alarming enough.

But now it's a poisoning of a former russian spy.

Hometown trending on Twitter. Very very strange.

iklboo · 05/03/2018 19:06

Oooh just read the update. Curiously & curiouser. But your DH should be safe.

FatherJemimaRacktool · 05/03/2018 19:08

What is it with all these dead Russian spies in the uk?

The UK is a favourite destination for Russians, so we're probably going to get a higher than average number of Russians who've annoyed someone being killed here (not just spies, oligarchs too - the death of Boris Berezovsky is extremely suspect).

whatishappeninginsalisbury · 05/03/2018 19:09

Press conference now!

OP posts:
Clandestino · 05/03/2018 19:11

Wake your DH in the middle of the night and say Dobroye utro (good morning). If he answers in Russian, cancel the appointment.
If he says something vulgar in English, keep it, he's safe. Not sure about you Grin.

According to Salisbury Journal online it was Fentylin the couple in the Malting used. It is very much stronger than heroin Couldnt believe it when I heard Salisbury mentioned on the radio.

Looking at the video from the article he certainly wasn't spying on the latest fashion trends.

Clandestino · 05/03/2018 19:15

Photo, not the video.

SnibbleAgain · 05/03/2018 19:17

Just saw this on the news.

Blimey.

There was that chap who was poisoned with Polonium a few years ago I'm not going to attempt to spell his name, I remmeber his poor wife going on and on saying he was poisoned and trying to get the "authorities" to act / do something. Awful.

It's always a bit weird when things go james bond in real life.

whatishappeninginsalisbury · 05/03/2018 19:18

Clandestino, on form this evening Grin

OP posts:
iklboo · 05/03/2018 19:20

That's the point @Clandestino - he's got to fit in the area ain't he? Grin

James Bond is the worst spy ever - everyone knows who he is, they're usually expecting him and he sticks out like a face drawn on Sid James's left bollock a sore thumb.

SideOrderofSprouts · 05/03/2018 19:20

The guy with polonium was Alexander litvinenko wasnt it

MyBrilliantDisguise · 05/03/2018 19:20

It's 25 times as strong as heroin, apparently.

Clandestino · 05/03/2018 19:25

he's got to fit in the area ain't he?

I had no idea people in Salisbury have such an eccentric (super-euphemism) taste in jackets.
I'm scared to visit the place now, unless I go to a vintage shop with the best of 80s and 90s.

I have to say I have very little compassion for spies. Even less for Russian spies. Must be the historical experience.

herethereandeverywhere · 05/03/2018 19:26

Made me think of this Buzzfeed article on 14 suspected Russian hits on British soil:

Buzzfeed

drinkswineoutofamug · 05/03/2018 19:28

Wasn't a spy poisoned with an umbrella dipped in something nasty on London Bridge? Think he was Bulgarian though not Russian, but very similar in their thinking back then.
Dobro Utro covers most Eastern European countries as well as Dibro jutro so our Serbian allies .
