To think eating a whole tub of ice cream isn’t normal?

I don’t like the word normal but I couldn’t think of anything else.

Now I can have my piggy moments and binge.

We were talking about takeaways and a friend said she could easily and does eat an entire tub of ice cream with her dominos pizza.

Do other people do this?

1000 cals is easy to consume if, say, you ate it as cheese.

Now we’re talking...

dementedma · 02/03/2018 20:37

just had half a tub of Haagen Daaz praline and cream. Delicious.
I could have eaten the whole tub if my life depended on it, but half was enough.

Yes. All 5 of us have our own tub on an ice cream night.

I hope thats not children.

smashyourglasses · 02/03/2018 20:38

I just call it 'eating'. Never been over 8st, my standard weight if about 7st 2. Great isn't it Grin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/03/2018 20:39

Sorry OP, I see you have indicated you have had an issue with binge eating.

In all honesty, yes, normal folk (whether overweight or not) can eat a whole tub of ice-cream and not think much more than "I ate too much tonight, oh well, back to normal tomorrow". It doesn't take up a lot of brain space for them. Whereas problem eaters will identify that they have binged and then either binge more or restrict.

I hope that helps. FWIW I went to CBT counselling for food issues and am much more "normal" now. Eg I've had some cake in the last few days whilst snowed in but I haven't binged like I would have in the past if I had "been bad".

FluffyWuffy100 · 02/03/2018 20:39

I probably could have when I was a teenager!

I could def do half a tub of B&Js phis food now...

windchimesabotage · 02/03/2018 20:39

YABU.
I wouldnt say its normal in terms of doing it regularly. I think youd get pretty ill pretty quickly if you were doing it that often.

BUT I have done it on ocassion. And certainly could do any time if I put my mind to it.
Im not overweight. (well id ideally like to be a bit lighter but my BMI is healthy)

Scarlet1234 · 02/03/2018 20:40

of course - especially Ben n jerrys. Which is why I rarely buy it.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 02/03/2018 20:41

Done it with the following flavours:
Hagen Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake
Haagen Dazs Cookie Dough
Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough
Ben and Jerry's Utter Peanut Butter Clutter
It's pretty easy Inc you get about a third in and it starts to melt a bit. Then before you know it it's gone!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/03/2018 20:41

1 tub of icecream is "binge eating" in the same way that 3 glasses of wine is "binge drinking".

That is, it isn't. Not to a "normal" person, only medically speaking. I'm not saying it's good for you but it's not exactly up there with the gross excesses of the Romans on a stag weekend in Las Vegas.

Autumnchill · 02/03/2018 20:42

Well I've had half a pizza, bottle of wine and just had to put the Salted Caramel away as I got through half of the tub. Tonight I just need a blow out. It's been a shit week and I need carbs and sugar

YearOfYouRemember · 02/03/2018 20:43

Ben and Jerry's new flavours - Birthday Cake.... 🍰

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/03/2018 20:43

I could eat an absolutely ridiculous amount of crisps for example. Probably 10 packets in an hour or so. So like 2000 cals worth.

Cowsopinion · 02/03/2018 20:44

I once demolished a whole tub of the halo top mint choc chips. That's no where near 1000 cals though more like 320 which is still a bit but worth it for creamy goodness!!! Grin

Laiste · 02/03/2018 20:45

People do it, but there are also people who drink a bottle of spirits a day. People who smoke forty a day.

Yes but those examples are of addictions and they are doing it every day. Which is bad.

I don't think anyone here has said it would be normal to eat a whole tub every day.

NotACleverName · 02/03/2018 20:45

Totally abnormal and disgusting. I only eat organic mana from Heaven and would never lower myself to such gluttony! 😡

(I wonder if my local Tesco Express sells the B&J Birthday Cake flavour...)

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/03/2018 20:46

My tongue gets too cold and sore before I get to the bottom of the tub! That's what stops me, rather than the size of my stomach!

Anyway, being greedy bastards is what helped lots of us survive evolution this long! You skinny minnies with your wee teeny tiny birdlike appetites are going to fall off your perches during this snow apocalypse! Grin

LaurenBrye · 02/03/2018 20:46

Oh my goodness ... I can’t deal with armchair psychologists.

I do not need counselling or have issues surrounding food. Yes I did use to overeat. I’m a size 10 these days and have a great relationship with food ... I eat what the hell I want and don’t consider any food bad food.

When I was bigger I wouldn’t have been able to eat a large pizza and a tub of b&j

Whatshallidonowpeople · 02/03/2018 20:47

A tub of Ben and Jerry's?! DH and I would share one over 3 days or so! I can't imagine eating a full tub to myself - and I have a very hearty appetite!!

6 portions from 1 tub is 83ml per night, about 4.5 spoon fulls. Not a hearty appetite by any standards

Emma198 · 02/03/2018 20:47

@autumnchill that is a good Friday now crack open another bottle and get the ice cream back out Grin

roses2 · 02/03/2018 20:47

It takes me and the 2 kids at least a week to go through one tub of Ben and jerrys Confused

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/03/2018 20:48

Bingeing on BJs sounds so wrong.

Living for the idea of birthday cake icecream tho!!!!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/03/2018 20:50

Sorry Lauren, I was genuinely only trying to be kind and helpful. Really. And perhaps it has helped another poster? Sad But I'm glad you are well now.

DalekDalekDalek · 02/03/2018 20:50

The smugness coming from some people on this thread is overwhelming. Halo
