To think eating a whole tub of ice cream isn’t normal?

LaurenBrye · 02/03/2018 20:12

I don’t like the word normal but I couldn’t think of anything else.

Now I can have my piggy moments and binge.

We were talking about takeaways and a friend said she could easily and does eat an entire tub of ice cream with her dominos pizza.

Do other people do this?

Of course it’s greedy. It’s also greedy when I polish a takeaway that would easily feed 2 people. Or when I eat a whole box of chocolates to myself rather than daintily rationing them to one each day.
I find it weirder that anyone would think eating a tub of Ben and Jerry’s was impossible and worth starting a thread about tbh.

HuskyMcClusky · 04/03/2018 11:31

Yes, I feel so frumpy for not eating a whole tub of ice cream...🤨

Lethaldrizzle · 04/03/2018 11:42

No way that's gross

AgnesSkinner · 04/03/2018 12:53

Ice cream has the perfect storm of fat and sugar to disrupt the mechanism that tells you when you’re full - it gives the brain a big hit of dopamine which makes you want to keep eating and keep the dopamine hit going.

Lethaldrizzle · 04/03/2018 13:29

That doesn't happen to me. I can only eat a few mouthfuls.

DenPerry · 04/03/2018 14:40

I can destroy a whole tub of ben and jerrys easily! My brain doesn't understand the concept of saving some until later. It is greedy and it is why I am overweight Grin

morningconstitutional2017 · 04/03/2018 18:16

Maybe not, many of us binge now and again. As long as a very large carton of ice cream doesn't become the norm I reckon it's all right.

Scootagal · 04/03/2018 18:17

Yes!!! This exactly! Reminds me a bit of folk who blare on about it being too early to eat chocolate at 11 or something in a supremely smug way as you eat a creme egg with your morning tea....yawn....get a life.

crunchymint · 04/03/2018 18:28

Just had half a mini milk from the freezer. I am now so podged I can't move. I am so greedy.

cookie4640 · 04/03/2018 18:33

Can’t do a full tub of ice cream, no chance! But can quite happily do a full bottle of wine... maybe it’s just what we train ourselves in ☺️

ALongHardWinter · 04/03/2018 18:33

No it's not normal. But I've still done it.

jessebuni · 04/03/2018 18:37

A whole large tub? No. A whole Ben and Jerry’s style tub. Yes but not regularly and definitely not after a heavy carby meal like dominoes.

StaplesCorner · 04/03/2018 18:41

I'm not sure, I think I could, you know one of those £4 ben and Jerry ones, I am thinking now I should try in the interests of science? There was another thread on here the other day about how many bags of crisps you could eat in a week and I was thinking a great fucking many. I try not to but by 'eck I could murder a 6 pack. Oh and I can drink a bottle of wine in 20 minutes without breaking a sweat.

What can you do you OP? How are you special? Hmm

Eveforever · 04/03/2018 18:45

I've replaced meals with tubs of ice cream before. I may have been a tad depressed at the time.

ThymeLord · 04/03/2018 18:45

the words used amuse me. Greedy, ignorant, obscene

I agree Rachie. It's laughable. Posters falling over themselves on the internet to prove to complete strangers what healthy superior people they are! We've even got the ones who couldn't possibly eat a whole pizza 😂

AnnieAnoniMouse · 04/03/2018 19:00

Clem7 Sat 03-Mar-18 23:18:55. On the one hand, I think it’s needless and unhealthy and I wouldn’t do it. Unfortunately there’s a cigarette in my other hand

🤣. At least you own your hypocrisy!

I have occasionally done this (but not after pizza, instead of dinner). I don’t have a freezer, so if I’m home alone it gets thrown away if I don’t eat it right there & then, so I generally don’t buy it. But I LOVE Hestons Popcorn or Marmalade ice cream. It’s very, very good.

SpringEquinox · 04/03/2018 19:02

This doesn't mean little individual tubs, does it ? It means the pint / 500ml ones ? I physically couldn't - I'd get bored of it and nauseous after about a 1/4. So I find it hard to understand how anyone could eat sn entire one - but obviously, as per the posts here, people do. Each to their own. I still don't think it is a normal, in the sense of prevalent, thing that people do that on a regular basis.

I am veering between ROFL and 'WTF this can't be true' at those words. The ultimate pearl clutching, salts smelling tight bodice event

Erm...righto.

We've even got the ones who couldn't possibly eat a whole pizza

Why is that a big deal? Loads of people don't.

The thread is weird.

Curiousaboutchoices · 04/03/2018 19:10

Yep I can do a whole tub of HG no problem and I’m tiny. It’s so moreish and is basically a frozen drink (?!!) which I use as an excuse for my piggishness, it takes up no room. Wouldn’t do every day or even every week, but it’s no different to someone, say, having 3 large glasses of wine of an evening. I don’t much like booze. Sugar is my crack cocaine. Horses for courses.

CountFosco · 04/03/2018 19:14

The big deal is that you express surprise that other people can manage a whole pizza. I usually go for the small pizza with salad when we go out for pizza but I fill up with pizza quickly. My work mates are not impressed at all with me when we go for a lunchtime 'eat all you can'. But I have enough experience of other people to know most other people eat more than me so I just admit I'm a lightweight. Icecream on the other hand... I grew up in a farming community where lots of sweet food was consumed. I can outeat most people when it comes to puddings because my sugar tolerance is high, even though I eat much less these days.

ThymeLord · 04/03/2018 19:19

The big deal is that it's said with the intention of making people who can eat a whole pizza look like greedy bastards, whilst the poster looks like a delicate little flower who nibbles a cracker once a week.

CobraKai · 04/03/2018 19:20

SheGot - it's the weird MN thing where it's completely normal and also a bit funny and endearing to eat enormous quantities of food.

And if you don't - you're the one with the 'issues'.

Only seems to apply to junk food or sweet things though. And I eat both btw. But it isn't normal to eat a family sized pizza or dessert to yourself anymore than it would be to eat 4 portions of pasta or a whole chicken.

If you came on here and said 'I just ate 4 steaks or 8 eggs on toast' people would say that wasn't normal but if it's a family packet of biscuits or 6-12 donuts or half a litre of ice cream it's all understandable and lols.

TheC · 04/03/2018 19:23

The amount of triggered people on this thread.

No, I didn't.

Who are you even aiming this at? I couldn't care less who eats pizza and how much of it they eat.

What I find I weird is this level of projection and the crazy shit that people are posting at each other.
