Wearing ballet flats and tights in this weather

Am I stupid? I don’t have any boots that fit and not time to buy - have a corporate job and feel like I’ll look ridiculous!

Trainers might be a sensible ootion to wear - change into your flats when in the office.

mumgointhroughtorture · 01/03/2018 10:14

Your feet will probably slip out of them .

Kittykatmacbill · 01/03/2018 10:16

I can’t imagine a sillier combination surely must causal sturdy shoes or trainers and change when you get there?

ScreamingLevitation · 01/03/2018 10:17

Your feet will be cold and wet all day if you wear them outside. Wear anything else en route and change into work shoes when you get there.

ibblebibbledibble · 01/03/2018 10:18

Yes you are

IveGotStupidHair · 01/03/2018 10:19

Do you not even have wellies that you could wear them change?

blackteasplease · 01/03/2018 10:19

I agree with the pps. You need something that covers your foot! I wore my snow boots to and from work yesterday and changed when I arrived. But if you have no boots trainers would be better. You can't possibly have nothing but ballet shoes or high heels (assuming that's what you are saying you normally wear)

Talith · 01/03/2018 10:20

Time to invest in some proper boots. You might get away with it but you're also likely to get cold and wet. I don't know how.old you are but it's taken me 20 odd years to accrue a full range of clothing for most weathers and situations! I still get caught out on occasion but this week I've at least stayed warm and dry on my commute

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 01/03/2018 10:20

I wouldn’t wear ballet flats on my commute regardless of the weather. To do it in the snow is definitely a bit silly... you’ll get soaked through and stink out the office with your soggy tights surely. Wear trainers or something a bit more sturdy then change into flats at work. I used to wear heels in my corporate job and always wore trainers on commute.

The above doesn’t apply if you drive to work though and can park near office?

RainyDayBear · 01/03/2018 10:21

I once walked home from the train station in ballet flats when the school I worked in was shut due to heavy snow that hasn’t been forecast. It was miserable and I really, reeeeeeally wouldn’t recommend it!!

Sallysollyfilly · 01/03/2018 10:21

Yes actually I’ve recently moved house and live in my flats and heels! And occasionally a pair of white trainers which I can’t really wear to work. I’m 25 and live in the same few things - a lot of my stuff is back home with my parents and I don’t have access...

You'll freeze woman! Have you absolutely nothing else that's more appropriate? Trainers? Walking boots?

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 01/03/2018 10:22

Wear the white trainers and then change at work. Or get a cab.

Shiftymake · 01/03/2018 10:22

Please do not wear ballet flats in this weather, there is a time and place and mid snow storm is not the place to wear summer shoes ;) As others have said, no need to wear boots, just something that protects your feet more from the elements and switch over when you get to work.

Nakedavenger74 · 01/03/2018 10:23

You may as well go barefoot.
Hilarious seeing women in ballet flats in a foot of snow or black slush.
Even worse are the uggs that are just totally sopping wet
Wellies, walking boots, trainers at a push.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2018 10:23

Cross post. Wear the trainers then put your flats on at work? Confused

Nakedavenger74 · 01/03/2018 10:24

..and errr, just change at work?

Bluelady · 01/03/2018 10:25

Distrinct lack of common sense here.

APontypandyPioneer · 01/03/2018 10:26

YABU. Cold feet, dangerous due to no grip, and you will possibly ruin your shoes.

Wear the trainers then change into the shoes when you get to work.

Ohyesiam · 01/03/2018 10:28

Why can't you change of of the trainers at work

stevie69 · 01/03/2018 10:31

Er, yes Blush

LouiseCollins28 · 01/03/2018 10:33

hey sally, ballet flats won't be very warm in this weather but I've seen several women on way to my office this morning wearing them so you wouldn't be the only one. Do you have booties or anything that might give a bit more protection? Have your flats got a grip on the sole, otherwise they might be slippy if it is icy!

...all that said, I arrived to work to find some of the girls smoking outside the entrance wearing their stiletto heels and with bare feet!

blackteasplease · 01/03/2018 10:35

Agree wear trainers and change at work!

NerrSnerr · 01/03/2018 10:36

You'll lose the shoes in the snow or fall over. I would wear trainers and trousers and change at work (and buy or collect more appropriate clothes and shoes, by 25 you must realise the weather is unpredictable at Rome's)

NerrSnerr · 01/03/2018 10:36

*at times, I bet the weather is perfect for ballet flats in Rome.
