He is a week old today. Has open wounds on his groin area and armpit, they are weeping. We washed and gently patted dry. However he has started sweating alot through his outfit on to my clothes. He is only wearing a onsie and the room isn't warm, I'm chilly. He also isn't feeding I'm struggling to get an ounce of milk out of him when usually his milk stops his crying straight away and gets at least 2 ounces easily. He just projectile vomited all over me. I don't want to go a and e because he's still crying loudly so they will say he is fine. Am i overreacting??

Go to a and e they won't think your wasting time

Toddlernighthell · 01/03/2018 04:34

Give 111 a call and they should be able to advise you what to do next. Hope he’s ok Flowers

Snowysky20009 · 01/03/2018 04:35

Do the wounds look infected? Does he have a temperature? How much has he taken for feeds in the last 24 hours? Is he having wet nappies?

ToftheB · 01/03/2018 04:36

Go to A&E, he’s tiny and it’s not worth taking a risk with him. They won’t think you’re wasting their time.

Someonehelpmi · 01/03/2018 04:37

@snowy the wounds look infected they are leaking yellowy stuff, he has probably taken about 8oz all day, only needed to change his nappy twice, no poo just a wee.

Call 111 or go to a&e. Projectile vomiting and not having normal feeds is dangerous

DeniseBest · 01/03/2018 04:38

With all that going on plus he's only a week old, I'd take him to Emergency.

aims331 · 01/03/2018 04:39

Just read your last post. Take him straight to a&e

maskingtape · 01/03/2018 04:41

Why does he have open wounds?

Snowysky20009 · 01/03/2018 04:42

Take him to a&e, sweating, dry nappies, not feeding and infection needs to be seen to asap in tiny ones x

Bubbinsmakesthree · 01/03/2018 04:42

Based on what you say I'd take him into A&E.

DeniseBest · 01/03/2018 04:43

Yep, just seem your last post as well. Go to A&E asap.

Snowysky20009 · 01/03/2018 04:43

Try not to panic x

Someonehelpmi · 01/03/2018 04:45

@maskingtape they are like pressure sores in areas that rub alot or sweat.

Thanks everyone will wake up my partner now and go

User1983 · 01/03/2018 04:46

I have a 4 wk old and I would take to a and e with those symptoms and definitely would with a 1 wk old x

breakfastBus · 01/03/2018 04:46

Don't panic. Do take him to A&E now.

Someonehelpmi · 01/03/2018 04:48

I just worry so much that in being a bad parent. It's my first baby and i feel like I'm making so many mistakes that are harming him

OP posts:
Oysterbabe · 01/03/2018 04:48

Agree A & E. I hope he's OK.

EssentialHummus · 01/03/2018 04:55

YOu’re not a bad parent, he’s a week old and didn’t come with a manual! Go to A&E, as others said, particularly re his not eating much.

aims331 · 01/03/2018 04:57

They won't see you like that ThanksThe best thing for him right now is the hospital. He will likely need some iv fluids and help feeding possibly through an ng tube. My 5 week old daughter had a different problem that caused projectile vomiting and not holding down milk and they said never to wait. Dehydration is so dangerous in newborns and it also sounds like he has an infection they he may need help with too.

tealandteal · 01/03/2018 05:04

They will not begrudge seeing such a tiny baby OP. Take him to A & E and let us know how you get on.

Snowysky20009 · 01/03/2018 05:04

If only these tiny humans came with manuals! I was back in hospital with ds1 when he was a week old as he wouldn't feed, had lost a lot of his brthweight, and had few dry nappies.
Little sod as soon as we were admitted breast feed for an hour, then slept 30 minutes, them fed another hour- and continued like that until the second morning! It was as if he went 'o bugger I'm with the experts now, best behave'. But it turned out he was a little jaundiced.
But this is kids- this is the start of the next 'forever' you'll worry about him.
This is no deflection on you as a mum at all! Flowers

KingIrving · 01/03/2018 05:05

A week old baby! With open wounds! Go!

HariboFrenzy · 01/03/2018 05:06

You're a good parent because you know something is wrong and you are getting him checked out. They will be more than happy to look at him. Flowers

BikeRunSki · 01/03/2018 05:08

No decent doctor will think badly of a parent concerned about their baby’s health.
