He is a week old today. Has open wounds on his groin area and armpit, they are weeping. We washed and gently patted dry. However he has started sweating alot through his outfit on to my clothes. He is only wearing a onsie and the room isn't warm, I'm chilly. He also isn't feeding I'm struggling to get an ounce of milk out of him when usually his milk stops his crying straight away and gets at least 2 ounces easily. He just projectile vomited all over me. I don't want to go a and e because he's still crying loudly so they will say he is fine. Am i overreacting??

If you took him to a&e you definitely did the right thing. I'd even have called an ambulance to be honest. Hope he's ok. By realising there's something wrong you're a great mum not a rubbish one. And don't worry we're all winging it!

I always go by the rule that if I'm worried enough to consider taking them there's good enough reason to go.
I've always found that they would rather they checked them and found nothing wrong than you didn't take them when there could be so don't worry about that.

Good luck I hope your baby is ok it's frightening when they're so tiny Thanks

Hoping you’re at A&E now. Infants can deteriorate so, so quickly.

Ilovewillow · 01/03/2018 08:12

Hope you've made it to A&E and are now being looked after, thinking of you!

IlikemyTeahot · 01/03/2018 08:35

A&E asap also consider a different brand of nappies/wipes if you can...I remember huggies wipes causing sores on my lil ones

snewsname · 01/03/2018 08:40

I assume you are in a&e right now. Hope the poor mite is ok.

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/03/2018 08:43

Hope you’ve been seen and all is well

AnnieAnoniMouse · 01/03/2018 08:55

I hope you got to A&E ok. It’s scary when they’re so tiny.

chocatoo · 01/03/2018 08:56

Please let us know how you got on OP. You sound like a good parent.

BasilTheCat · 01/03/2018 09:25

Hope you got the help you needed OP - if you're still waiting for a 111 call back I'd risk the snow. Babies with temperatures in the first month should get a full septic screen at the hospital, hopefully it's nothing serious but needs to be checked out. Pack an overnight bag so you don't have to go back out in the weather. Good luck!

Agree with everyone else baby needs to be seen sooner rather than later, new borns can turn so quickly.

DartmoorDoughnut · 01/03/2018 09:28

lljkk · 01/03/2018 09:32

Hope you can update soon, OP. x

KochabRising · 01/03/2018 09:34

Glad you’ve gone to A and E - any symptom like this in a newborn needs IMMEDIATE attention.

JustVent · 01/03/2018 09:36

Sheesh.

SharkSave · 01/03/2018 09:36

Hope all is Ok!

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 01/03/2018 09:38

This is without a doubt an A&E jobby and I'm one of those that usually waits til a limb is falling off.

My dd was admitted at 12 weeks with something different but went downhill so rapidly so you don't even mess about with a 1 week old. Crikey.

ArchieStar · 01/03/2018 09:40

Hope your baby recovers quickly OP and hope you've been seen quickly too! I would put in a complaint that you've had no follow up care with midwife. Has a health visitor at least been in contact?

Cheby · 01/03/2018 09:45

Hope you’ve been seen OP. A&E is absolutely the right choice with these symptoms.

SinceWhenDid · 01/03/2018 09:50

Hope your little one is OK

6demandingchildren · 01/03/2018 09:54

Hope you are at the hospital xx

Kahlua4me · 01/03/2018 09:58

Glad you have gone to a&e. Just asking and acting on your concerns makes you a good parent.

The staff at hospital won’t mind as would rather you went in for them to check, than didn’t and baby got worse.

Hope all is okay and they can help you quickly.
