To exile DH for bringing back margarine instead of butter?

Sent DH to do the shopping (I know, I know) as I was bogged down with something. To be fair to him, he managed to do pretty well. Except he's brought back Margarine instead of the Butter I asked for. He thought he was doing a good thing because it was "cheaper".

AIBU to exile him and give him the cold shoulder for the foreseeable future? Margarine just isn't as good, is it? What am I supposed to have on Crumpets?!

LTB

PissedOffNeighbour · 28/02/2018 19:38

YADNBU! LTB!

PuntasticUsername · 28/02/2018 19:38

YWBU to merely exile him. This crime requires some sort of ritual, public humiliation by way of penance.

Enuffsenuffsenuff · 28/02/2018 19:39

Drives me mad how bad some men can be at shopping! How do they not recognise the brands that are in the cupboards week in week out?

Also margarine is gross, YANBU Wink

britnay · 28/02/2018 19:40

send him back!

RoadToRivendell · 28/02/2018 19:40

Ugh. Off with his head.

ChristianGreysAnatomy · 28/02/2018 19:40

Much healthier, margarine. Plant based instead of animal. Better for you, and the planet and your wallet.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 28/02/2018 19:41

Send him back and make him swap it

Whatshallidonowpeople · 28/02/2018 19:41

Don't be ridiculous!

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 28/02/2018 19:44

Ugh, send him back for butter and his punishment should be that he has to eat marg on his while you slather proper butter onto your crumpets. He won't make the same mistake again.

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 28/02/2018 19:44

He can get back out there surely? What's stopping him?

mogloveseggs · 28/02/2018 19:45

Yanbu!

RosaRosaRose · 28/02/2018 19:45

Please see the salted caramel post. Some things are just wrong. Margerine, in its place (not sure what place) is OK. Butter has its own purpose. Never confuse the two. Grin Butter is to make us feel better. Margerine has another.

Countingsheeeep · 28/02/2018 19:46

@whatshallodonow I hope your joking, margarine is soooo disgusting. It's the most processed fake food going, even ants avoid it.

That would actually trigger divorce proceedings in this house! DP knows better than to darken my doorstep with marge! (Shudders)

Oysterbabe · 28/02/2018 19:47

Definitely LTB.

SingingSands · 28/02/2018 19:47

He him to find the receipt and take it back!

Margarine is vile. It’s basically plastic.

FissionChips · 28/02/2018 19:47

It’s utterly grim to eat though .

BabychamSocialist · 28/02/2018 19:48

Margarine reminds me of when my mum used to buy Stork and put it on EVERYTHING. God, the day Margarine came out was the end of nice toast in our house. Blue Band, that was the other.

I'm just sat here wondering what I did to deserve this! I think I'll send him back out...

Make sure he eats it all himself. And buy yourself some butter tomorrow, to be kept under lock and key until the marg is finished!

chipsandgin · 28/02/2018 19:49

Not plant based - actually closer to plastic than plant. Butter is a natural product, margarine is fundamentally wrong! LTB for sure.

So are Ryvita, but I'm not replacing my crumpets with them.

Ugh! How could he do such a thing? LTB!

GlitterGlassEye · 28/02/2018 19:55

Isn’t Margarine actually grey in colour? But they add yellow colouring to make it look like butter?

Anyhoo, marg tastes shit.

VaguelyAware · 28/02/2018 20:04

Yuck. Butter here. DH was "but the cholesterol..." I told him about trans fats. DH was "butter is more expensive". I pointed out it tastes nicer. I pointed out butter doesn't come in a plastic tub that needs recycling. I pointed out it's supporting the dairy industry. I pointed out that margarine basically doesn't go off - if it does develop a weird smell because it's too old, it tends to smell like cheap wax candles - it surely doesn't qualify as food. He argued the point until I reminded him that his parents don't refrigerate or even keep the lid on theirs - they store the spreading knife in it, & there were no flies / maggots in it even when they came back after a week away. He's a butter man, now.
