Cocks and Vaginas

AIBU to think we should just change toilets and changing rooms from male and female to just Cocks and Vaginas (or vulvas if you want)

No self identifying bollocks. If you have a dick you go in there. If you don't you go in there. Simple.

We can remove the lady in a dress picture and the man picture and just put pictures of genitals on the doors instead Grin

this is all said in a joking manner. Mostly.

Feedthetree

That's the obvious solution by I suspect so many people are against that because they subconsciously or consciously are trying to maintain a reason why they can exclude and vilify some trans people.

Idontdowindows · 24/02/2018 13:11

Funnily enough there are virtually no reports of male trans being attacked in the men's.

Plenty of reports of women being attacked in the women's by men entering it on the basis of self ID though.

Men are safe in the men's.

Women are not safe in the women's if men are allowed in.

missiondecision · 24/02/2018 13:11

Just as a man can claim he identifies as a woman in a free society, as a woman I can claim to be disadvantaged to accommodate (s)him. Forgive my ignorance but does being gender fluid rather than transgender actually mean the toilet/changing room of choice will always vary depending.

missiondecision · 24/02/2018 13:14

So female toilets are more likely to become unisex then?? ... we need a third toilet, or will that be discriminatory??

Chatterbitch · 24/02/2018 13:17

Can someone post some links to reports of women being attacked in female safe spaces by men identifying as women please?

Gileswithachainsaw · 24/02/2018 13:20

My suggestion is for men’s loos to be turned into trans loos, disabled loos and women’s loos. Men can go to the loo at home until they learn to behave

This is an even better idea!!!

Chatterbitch Woman attacked in woman's safe spaces

GladAllOver · 24/02/2018 14:01

I feel like a man quite often. And he usually appreciates it. :)

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 24/02/2018 14:46

The self identifying stuff is a very very small number who have nothing to do with the trans movement and I agree this is just nonsense.

The self-identifying stuff is a large proportion of those claiming to be trans. There are many many more 'transgender' people than transsexual people. It is transsexual people who come to mind when trans is mentioned, but transsexual people is not what trans means anymore. The meaning of trans is so wide it covers near every person on this earth now.

Transsexual people are relatively rare. These would be your people with sex dysphoria who wish to change themselves to resemble the opposite sex to relieve said dysphoria. 'Transgender' is a totally different ballgame and encompasses fetishists, MRAs, and basically anyone who can simply say the words, or tick a box on a form, to say 'I am a woman;. Self-ID will be abused like fuck. Everyone should be against self-ID. Being against self-ID is not transphobic at all, and its quite annoying to see people think it is. Self-ID is not about transsexual people (who can get a GRC under the current 'gatekeeping' as they will be diagnosed with dysphoria and will have been 'living as' their chosen sex already)..its about any man saying he is a woman and being believed. Self-ID is basically the end of sex segregation. In the name of being 'inclusive'. Its madness.

Chatterbitch · 24/02/2018 14:52

DaisyDrip thank you.

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 24/02/2018 21:54

Well there's an idea then.

What about XX and XY?

Basta · 25/02/2018 10:30

What about XX and XY?

That would exclude women with intersex conditions.

Idontdowindows · 25/02/2018 10:33

That would exclude women with intersex conditions.

So the best way is to simply use woman: adult human female.

Because an adult human female with an intersex condition is still an adult human female and therefore a woman.

Adult human males are men.

And there we go. The men's and the women's.

Basta · 25/02/2018 10:44

Because an adult human female with an intersex condition is still an adult human female and therefore a woman.

Yes.

beepthemeep · 25/02/2018 10:45

This narrative that women are somehow full of hate or bias or bigotry because they don't want the law to change to allow fully functional men into their safe spaces is so warped!

Why is it always women who must give way?

The law as it stands works fine. Transwomen who have transitioned fully are fine in changing rooms, toilets etc. Men who haven't transitioned are not. Men who want to shout about what it means to be a woman and who want to insist that they have same experiences as women from their lifetime of male privilege are not.

It's really not that hard, is it?

Idontdowindows · 25/02/2018 10:50

Transwomen who have transitioned fully are fine in changing rooms, toilets etc.

To be fair, I am against any man, surgically altered or not, in women's spaces.

Trans of any stripe can fight for and build their own safe spaces, just like women had to do.

noeffingidea · 25/02/2018 10:52

Unisex, single cubicle, lockable toilets for all.
Agree with this, it's the best solution for everyone, and a lot of businesses are already starting to do this. I suspect that businesses that can't or won't adapt will fall by the wayside.

beepthemeep · 25/02/2018 10:53

I can't bear India willoughby - India needs to shut up and stop going on about India unless India has something to say that is actually useful. Screaming "I am a woman" is not it. But I don't believe that India has an ulterior perverted motive for wanting to be in a women's toilet or changing room and that's my main concern.

I mind people like Travis Topshop, who just like to fetishise and pout and purport this idea that being a woman is about clothes and makeup, or the inevitable perverts who will use a well intentioned law to gain access to women in a vulnerable position. That prospect frightens me. And I don't see why all women should be made to accept the demands of a small minority when that could result in them feeling uncomfortable at best, or being exposed to harm at worst.

Basta · 25/02/2018 10:54

To be fair, I am against any man, surgically altered or not, in women's spaces

I'm not sure that is "fair", actually. Could you explain why you think that a fully-transitioned post-operative male-to-female transsexual should not be allowed in women's spaces?

beepthemeep · 25/02/2018 10:55

Noeffingidea - my local council gym and pool has no cubicles. To fit cubicles would be expensive and would hugely reduce the number of people who could use them. How is that a good idea? Confused

By contrast, constructing a small area where men or women can go and identify however they like would not.

Idontdowindows · 25/02/2018 10:55

Could you explain why you think that a fully-transitioned post-operative male-to-female transsexual should not be allowed in women's spaces?

because he's not a woman.
