Hershey's Milk Chocolate

My dd went to New York last week, "get me some American sweets please" I ask. I have never had anything so disgusting in my life. Who wants chocolate to taste of vomit? The grape Hi-Chews, well they don't even taste like food! AIBU to disown my dd?

I have a friend in new Zealand who posts on Facebook about Fry's chocolate cream - it isn't actually British tough is it? As least I spent most of my childhood and a lot of my 20s in England and have never seen it in my life - I'm a 70s child so even if it's a relic I'd have thought I'd have some memory of it! Is it actually British?

American "chocolate" is not actually chocolate, it's "candy". It certainly shouldn't be sold as chocolate. I had a similar nauseating and disappointing experience of American chocolate decades ago when living in rural Japan, where chocolate wasn't that popular and what there was tasted like cooking chocolate. An American colleague came to visit and brought me a pre hyped up gift of hirshys kisses and they were inedible, absolutely disgusting.

Cadbury chocolate is no longer worth bothering buying when I'm in the UK imo - Germany still does excellent chocolate (Riter Sport and Milka).

Lindt too but that's expensive.

BUT has anyone tried salt water taffy? I had some in San Francisco and I was addicted. Unbelievably nice!

Hershey’s is hideous. DSS brought some back from the USA for DH, and we’ve been ignoring it. 😀

I do like wintergreen lifesavers, and all the cherry flavoured things. Can’t get enough of those.

NZ Whittaker’s chocolate is very good - higher cocoa solids without being too challenging.
