Hershey's Milk Chocolate

My dd went to New York last week, "get me some American sweets please" I ask. I have never had anything so disgusting in my life. Who wants chocolate to taste of vomit? The grape Hi-Chews, well they don't even taste like food! AIBU to disown my dd?

I like their cookies and cream bars but even they taste a bit weird.
Their regular Hershey’s on the other hand is absolutely vile. The sicky flavour is not a quality I generally appreciate when I’m indulging my sweet tooth. Well, teeth! Blush

Vile. When people bring them into work I always think 'they can't really be as bad as I remember them though' and fancy a bit of chocolate so go for it. Deep regret each time.

But have you noticed the change in Cadburys chocolate since Kraft took them over? It's not nearly as nice as it used to be.

I feel the same way about reeces. If you look at the blurb, it states its "chocolate flavoured" covered peanut butter.. It's so cheap and nasty the chocolate isn't even chocolate. Gip

The Reeses peanut butter stuff is lovely, but the actual milk chocolate is foul. I remember my DM bringing us back some from a business trip to the States and I'm a massive chocoholic but I had to chuck it. The PP who said cheesey vomit was spot on.

The cookies and Cream bars are the only ones I like. Apart from that, Ghiradelli chocolates are lovely, especially their pumpkin/caramel centres and Peppermint Bark chocolate. I bough people them for Xmas and now get asked for it every year. I detest Hershey Kisses and Reece Peanut Butter stuff.

The UK and ROI have an exemption from the EU, and are allowed to use the term 'milk chocolate' for products that have to be called 'family milk chocolate' in the rest of the EU due to the lack of cocoa solids.

No doubt, once we enter the sunny uplands of Brexit in a year or so's time, manufactures will be allowed to call a potato 'chocolate' and we can all celebrate our new-found sovereignty .

My DM was a child during the war, when sweets were very strictly rationed, and Hershey bars were her absolute fantasy item.

The first time I went to the States I brought one back for her, and she said she had never been so disappointed with anything in her life before!

Has anyone noticed if they get leg-humped more after eating Hershey's ? Hmm

I only eat 90% cocoa Lindt or 92% organic Vivani choc - so far noone has added eau de vomit or dogs' arse to either.

Skor or heath bars are like really thick dime bars, they're great. Pretty much all other american sweets/chocolate don't do it for me though. Their range of poptarts on the other hands mmmmmmm

American chocolate is absolute shite. My grandson lives on Chicago and has to be stocked up with proper choc before he goes home after a visit

Weirdly, Hersheys kisses bought in China taste totally fine. I used to eat them regularly as basically it was Hersheys or Dove, which is secretly Mars. It wasn't until I tried imported American Hersheys that I understood why people said they were disgusting.

Incidentally, I found actual Chinese chocolate had a weird liver aftertaste.

Nobody does chocolate and sweeties like us Brits, I have to say. American chocolate is awful, particularly Hershey's. I hope, should we end up with a US trade deal, that we don't have to take any of their foods, especially chocolate!
