To be completely obsessed with Rightmove?

Sandinplaces · 21/02/2018 00:34

So I'm obsessed with it. I work agency night shifts and I need to prove my wages for at least a year before I can be considered for a mortgage with DH. He's got a great job but could only get a mortgage of £140k max on his own.

So on my breaks at night at work I just look at houses! It's pathetic but I love it!

So wibu to ask you to indulge me and share your fave rightmove houses?

I love the houses that people just don't give a shit about. Like they must have known someone was coming to take a photo but no fucks given or the really weird lay out/ odd decor. I love them all!!

I like this one; the bar especially Wink and the ensuite where you could definitely not have a shit!

Rightmove and mumsnet - my two favourite wastes of time combined!

sashh · 21/02/2018 06:18

Any idea what a "restored ha-ha" is?

Happies · 21/02/2018 06:23

A ha ha is a a moat with no water.... you can't see it until you fall in it.... hence the "ha ha " lol

Love Rightmove, and yes quite often go on and see what if buy with my lottery winnings x

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 21/02/2018 06:28

I am so glad I’m not the only one!! My mum and sister always send them around to each other too!

I won’t be able to get any work done today now I’m on that MSE thread! Grin

Check this little pearler out www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-60334876.html

sashh · 21/02/2018 06:33

I now want a ha-ha, but I live in a bungalow on a council estate!

KevinTheYuccaPlant · 21/02/2018 06:44

I must get a lottery ticket before the auction date for this - I'd buy it for house name alone, you'd feel like you were living in Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones!

I give you www.daft.ie/wicklow/houses-for-sale/roundwood/luggala-roundwood-wicklow-1645709/.

All I need to do is win Euromillions.

covetingthepreciousthings · 21/02/2018 06:49

Is it just me or does anyone else think about whether the house is haunted or not too ?

@KevinTheYuccaPlant that's an amazing find, and would definitely be haunted, I reckon it's very run down in the other bedrooms as there are so few pictures.

frumpety · 21/02/2018 06:56

Love looking on rightmove , can I just remind you all that they do overseas as well , so when the weather is rubbish and its dark like now , it is quite nice to have a look at property in the south of France or Spain . I pretend I have inherited £50,000 and see what I can get for my money over in France Grin

Bowerbird5 · 21/02/2018 07:03

Love the estate agents description of the "stand alone 'claw'foot bath with fitted wardrobes." That would be interesting!
Obviously keen entertainers!

Love that church. Wouldn't it be great to look around that place.

Off to check out the others. Love some of them on Right Move does the photographer never think to say " you might want to move your knickers off the radiator." Etc. when helping DD look for student digs we had some laughs. Sinks piled up with about a weeks worth of washing up. Bicycles in bedrooms, half of last nights tea on a plate under the bed etc. if you want a laugh have a look for student digs. The landlords must cringe. Luckily we saw some before photos of her first studio flat. We had to imagine quite a lot otherwise. It was crammed with most winter sport equipment you could think of. It was an amazing place when cleaned, she was a bit Hmm about the chandelier though. It was real. It was a split Georgian property. She is unlikely to ever have such a good address again.

Pythone · 21/02/2018 07:17

I do this too! I'm so annoyed that Rightmove got rid of the "character" filter; now I have to manually look through pages and pages to get to those stately homes and castles!

StephiD3 · 21/02/2018 07:26

absolutelycorking I remember that thread!

I love this game, when anyone tells me they are looking to move house I’m right in looking on RightMove for them.

I might become an estate agent....

Ickyockycocky · 21/02/2018 09:13

I’ve found my people 😎

caperberries · 21/02/2018 09:35

Nothing odd or unusual, but I'm rather taken with the layout and garden of this place

brizzledrizzle · 21/02/2018 09:39

A ha-ha is a hidden wall, it's used to stop the sheep and other livestock getting into the grounds but without spoiling the view. My ex fell down a ha-ha once, it was indeed ha-ha - a lot of ha-ha in fact.

Kismett · 21/02/2018 10:25

I love looking on Rightmove and continued to do so after we bought the house. I feel bad making fun of any of the houses though. A home is so personal and I’d be mortified if I found someone making fun of our old place on here!

Armi · 21/02/2018 11:30

I do this regularly. I buy a Euromillions ticket and annoy DH by showing him all these amazing properties. Half an hour later I’ll turn around and say something like, ‘I don’t think we should go for the Jacobean mansion - there’s no direct access to the beach.’ He used to look at me as if I was nuts, now he just says, ‘Well, that’s a disappointment but rightio, Armi’ and carries on emptying the dishwasher.

Fanciedachange1 · 21/02/2018 14:39

Love rightmove!

We moved last year and got into the habit of checking rightmove every day to make sure we didn't miss any homes and were quick to arrange viewings!

Even now we have moved I still do it just to see what other houses look like! I only ever look in my town though.

StephiD3 · 21/02/2018 16:25

My most recent favourite...

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 21/02/2018 16:34

I like to look at Zoopla as with advanced search setting you can select: sort by: most reduced.

Gives lots of info on how many reductions, when reduced etc

It would be useful for Rightmove to get that search facility on their site. Mostly I just laugh at the ridiculous asking prices.

totorostoes · 21/02/2018 16:36

LemonysSnicket I used to go to brownies in the building next to the church!

DuckAndPancakes · 21/02/2018 16:43

This is a true obsession of mine. I can’t stop myself.

I sit looking at 4 bed houses where we live (we can’t afford to buy at all, let alone a 4 bed in Surrey!) and then end up looking at the high prices places and thinking what I would change etc.

DP thinks it’s stupid but I love it. Great way to waste evenings.

DuckAndPancakes · 21/02/2018 16:46

OH AND the best listings have floor plans
I love floor plans
