My sister calling her twins

George and Michael? Or is it just me that BU. it's a bit... strange & funny.

Don't see why this matters, OP. Plenty of kids are named after musicians, so even if people do associate them with George Michael no one will turn a hair.

Charolais · 21/02/2018 21:23

We have friends who called their sons (not twins) Nick and Mark. I wondered if they had another son if they’d call him Dent.

The oldest son is Nick btw, not Nickolas.

BattleaxeGalactica · 21/02/2018 21:28

Have just snorted loud and long @ Annie, Clarabel and Thomas Grin

Couldn't really be arsed about George and Michael. Especially after six years. Not your kids, OP. Just get over it.

derekthe1adyhamster · 21/02/2018 21:28

I know someone with 2 boys called George & Lucas

dayswithaY · 21/02/2018 21:33

I think it's genius.

NC4Now · 21/02/2018 21:37

There are brothers George and Harrison at our school. Beatles fans, I presume.

gillybeanz · 21/02/2018 21:38

I love the name george and I don't like the name Michael. if I did I would have called them George and Michael, but neither liked or disliked George Michael.

WowIFreelStrange · 21/02/2018 21:52

@Tippz if you knew my sister I'd agree to your comment. Unfortunately you dont. And she really wish she did t call them it

She was the one that mentioned it first because you know.. I'm not a cunt and I kept it to myself. She was the one that told me she really regretted it, I then agreed it was stupid.

It just really made me chuckle And cringe When she shouted 'George' 'Micheal'

Yes.. It turned a few parents heads. Yes I was silently laughing.

Seriously.. you can't tell me if you were sitting at a park bench eating your egg sarnie and someone shouted behind you 'George, Michael' you wouldn't turn your head for a little glimpse.

My point exactly...

Hadsuchahardday · 21/02/2018 22:06

Love it! Wish I’d named my son after the best singer/songwriter of my generation but DH wouldn’t allow it.
Massive fan if you hadn’t guessed.

Peekaboo3 · 21/02/2018 22:17

I suppose George and Michael has to better than Ronnie and Reggie, or cringe Sam and Ella (or Sam and Eleanor which is almost as bad!)

I mean, come on, that's just cruel. Sad

mathanxiety · 21/02/2018 23:29

Seriously.. you can't tell me if you were sitting at a park bench eating your egg sarnie and someone shouted behind you 'George, Michael' you wouldn't turn your head for a little glimpse.

Actually, I wouldn't.

This is because there is a comma there.
'George!' < pause > 'Michael!'

And because the tone of voice when calling two six year old boys would be completely different from the tone of voice you would use if you saw George Michael risen from the dead and walking in the park.

But mostly it is because I do not have an unhealthy obsession with George Michael.

Doman · 21/02/2018 23:35

Well we only realised after naming both of our children that their abbreviated names are Mac ‘n Ro.

SaucySpider · 22/02/2018 08:09

My two goldfish are called Fred and George (orange!)

MyGuideJools · 22/02/2018 08:23

I went to school with twins Polly and Esther Smile

pasanda · 22/02/2018 11:47

fortunacookie · 23/02/2018 20:21

😂 at kelvin and kevin!

joystir59 · 23/02/2018 20:23

Michael and Jackson would be fab

BabloHoney · 23/02/2018 20:30

I wish I had twin boys now, just so I could call them Bill and Ted. Excellent 😂
George and Michael sound fine to me, I think sibling names get used less together as they get older.

Tinkie25 · 23/02/2018 20:36

Twins at my school we’re called Mark and Spencer.

joystir59 · 23/02/2018 20:40

Kevin and Perry

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 24/02/2018 08:55

at least they aren't Frank and Spencer
