George and Michael? Or is it just me that BU. it's a bit... strange & funny.

Personally, I'd have gone with George and Andrew just for a real retro tribute/vibe thing but that's just me!! I think George and Michael are perfectly fine names anyway. Only people of a certain era would even think of George Michael, anyway, I would think.

midnightmisssuki · 20/02/2018 14:25

not your children - why do you care? You sound mean and judgemental of your own nephews names tbh.

BaronessBomburst · 20/02/2018 14:30

My NDN has children named Sela and Ward.

YerAuntFanny · 20/02/2018 14:39

YABU

My brother has George Michael as his middle names, there is most often a passing smirk when people see/hear then they move on and it's never mentioned again. It's really not that big a deal.

I'm a massive fan (of GM, not my brother ;) ) so I'm actually a bit jealous that my middle name is shit, he was named after his Grandparents though not the man himself :o

My college lecturer taught twin girls once.... Arrabella Fanella and Fanella Arrabella. Suddenly, G & M don't seem so bad eh?

cjt110 · 20/02/2018 14:47

Sela and Ward I don't get this?

user1489152320 · 20/02/2018 15:02

I heard a Mum calling her children " Sam, Ella"

UsernameInvalid66 · 20/02/2018 15:16

Why does it have to be George first

I read somewhere (it might even have been on here) that if you have twins you should always name the older one with the letter that comes later in the alphabet, because you as parents will always think of them in their birth order and call them, for example, William and David, but teachers and anyone else who sees them on a list will always think of the alphabetically first one first and call them David and William, so that way they both get to be first sometimes and one of them doesn't feel left out. If there's any truth in that, teachers will think George and Michael, and it sounds as if your sister does too, so maybe you could start redressing the balance by calling them Michael and George yourself.

For what it's worth, I think George and Michael together will make people think of George Michael for quite a while yet, but there are worse people to be associated with and in any case they're both quite ordinary names individually, so it's less obvious they're "called after" somebody than if they were two rare names that went together to make a celebrity name, like, oh, I dunno... Ringo and Starr maybe?

I really wanted SIL to call her dts Lactose 'n' Tolerant but sadly no cigar. She chose beautiful names so no teasing sadly 😜. George & Michael, erm not for me sorry. We met two doctors on hol once who had dc called Sam 'n' Ella which was surprising.

YoloSwaggins · 20/02/2018 15:41

Sam and Ella?

YoloSwaggins · 20/02/2018 15:41

Ah you got there before me 😜

threatlevelmidnight · 20/02/2018 18:55

I once taught twins called Samina and Amina. Seemed like a real lack of creative forethought.

Teutonic · 20/02/2018 19:05

A friend of mine is called Jill, her husband's name is Jack. 😂

emmakc1977 · 21/02/2018 17:35

My youngest are max and ruby - lost count of the amount of times we’d be at the park and I’d call them much to the delight of other kids who’d say like the rabbits or start singing max and ruby, ruby and max - doesn’t happen now they 7 and 8 lol

BuggeringNora · 21/02/2018 17:40

My DD has a pet rat named George Michael. Named by me, (naturally), and I insist on his full name being used at all times. Wink
DD had a friend round the other day and got both rats out to show her. I had to snigger when her friend ran to the kitchen to tell me "George Michael's done a big wee on your sofa!"

Therecanbeonly1 · 21/02/2018 17:42

'Jack and Danny is slang for Fanny.'

MrsKoala - so funny! I just spat out my coffee!

bubblegumble · 21/02/2018 17:48

I grew up knowing brothers called Craig and David.. it still tickles me now.
I'm 24 but knew them when I was maybe 9/10.

TheFirstMrsDV · 21/02/2018 17:49

I used to know twins called Neil and Innes.

Chugalug · 21/02/2018 17:55

Well my sister is calling her triplets ...rod, Jane. And freddy

WestEndVBroadway · 21/02/2018 17:57

I knew twins called Paul and Paula, lacks so much imagination .

veuveo · 21/02/2018 17:58

This is bollocks
If you have 2 children, do you always shout their names in the same order?
Just shout Michael and George if it's a problem

Chugalug · 21/02/2018 17:58

And my brothers dd is called Jenny tailor

Deshasafraisy · 21/02/2018 18:06

I want twin boys now so I can do this.

MsHarry · 21/02/2018 18:09

Both classic names.

MsHarry · 21/02/2018 18:12

The GM connection will be totally missed by most people as they won't be referred to as George Michael.
