George and Michael? Or is it just me that BU. it's a bit... strange & funny.

As soon as Michael becomes a Mike or a Mick or whatever, the issue is redundant. They're both perfectly good names.

Rhodiolia · 20/02/2018 12:12

A teacher of mine from school called his Billy and Joel.

Rhodiolia · 20/02/2018 12:14

joey Sam and Eleanor sounds a bit like salmonella

ShutUpBaz · 20/02/2018 12:16

Joey saying 'Sam and Eleanor' together sound like 'Salmonella' to the ridiculous.

At 7 & 9, my DC have already perfected the withering look Grin

Quartz2208 · 20/02/2018 12:22

no one in their generation will think anything of it at all

DS has identical twins at school whose names are identical apart from one letter (one name ends with tha the other with sha) that is confusing

Devonishome1 · 20/02/2018 12:33

It made me chuckle anyway!

bretonknickers · 20/02/2018 12:35

I heard of twins called Peter and Paul once...

two little birdies, sitting on a wall, one called..

brizzledrizzle · 20/02/2018 12:48

A woman I used to work with had twins called Harriet and Harry, I always wanted to ask her why she thought it was a good idea; teenage Harriet decided she wanted to be Harry too.

WowIFreelStrange · 20/02/2018 12:52

I have no offence against the names George and Michael. They are loveley names and ds2 eas going to bw a George.
But to call your identical twin boys them is just really stupid.

No she or BIL are not big fans at all.
That's what I don't get.

And no they're 6. They literally shout, 'George! Michael! Come on now time to go'

Makes me cringe everytime.

OldmanOfTheWeb · 20/02/2018 12:54

It's already a forgotten memory for this generation. By the time they're at school nobody will even blink.

Now if she'd called them Rick and Morty, we might have a problem. Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 20/02/2018 13:00

bizzle there's a Famous Five book featuring twins called Henry and Harriet, known as the Two Harrys. I think it's Five on Finniston Farm? The name of the farm is what I'm not sure on. Maybe she's an Enid Blyton fan?

GabsAlot · 20/02/2018 13:02

so theyre 6 and you just realised its cringe

theyre not going to change their names now are they

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 20/02/2018 13:02

Could have been worse, Cliff and Richard.

beepthemeep · 20/02/2018 13:03

I know twins called Charles and David. Born in the 1980's, so their parents have no excuse.

Amazingly both do shorten their names. As they're quite posh, I'd have thought they'd avoid that!!

beepthemeep · 20/02/2018 13:04

(Amusingly both of them are very good at music and play in bands - not together though!!)

purpleweasel · 20/02/2018 13:09

How about Jeff & Lynne? A bit out-of-generation though (shame)

JanetStWalker · 20/02/2018 13:14

It's lovely Blush

mollied · 20/02/2018 13:14

I like it I don't think its that strange I know brothers called Michael and Angelo

greedygorb · 20/02/2018 13:15

I know a married couple called Sam and Ella. They couldn't help it. The George Michael thing can be avoided.

NatashaGurdin · 20/02/2018 13:16

JennyOnAPlate
I think it's a bit strange. Is she a big fan??

I absolutely don't have two cats called Fred and George and a bunny called Ginny

My cats are litter mates called Fred and George, I didn't call them that though, that's what the shelter they came from called them but my DSD would not let me change them because she is a huge HP fan. Grin

Fred is black and white and George is white and black although I always think they really should have been ginger ...

FellOutOfBed2wice · 20/02/2018 13:23

My best friend was in labour when the news broke that George Michael had passed away long before his time. Her husband didn’t appreciate it when I texted him suggesting were the baby a boy they should consider George with Michael as a middle name.....

..... As it turned out the baby was a boy but selfishly they chose not to honour Wham! And called him something else.

WowIFreelStrange · 20/02/2018 13:27

Yes they're 6 and no I haven't only just relaised. I said it was a ridiculous cringy idea from the beginning and I'm still saying it today.

Dsis said it was BIL idea. She said she deeply regrets it now.

We was sat in the park and she's shouted them. Hence me cringing now.
Dsis knows exactly how I feel about there names. She understands why.

Yes Michael and George would of been a more sensible idea for the 2 names.
BIL is just a dick

Nousernameforme · 20/02/2018 13:39

I know a sibling set called Sid and Nancy I asked if they were sex pistols fans and got a blank look in response.

Maybe she hasn't twigged

Yawnyprawn · 20/02/2018 13:41

They won't know who George Michael is and neither will their classmates. No biggie.

Also from my own experience, my name and DH's name make up the names of a well known TV duo and it's not even a thing. People notice, make a crap joke and then move on because it's just not that interesting.

JoeyMaynardssolidlump · 20/02/2018 14:09

Ah salmonella! I see Smile still love the names.

Chaz and Dave Grin

yawn you arnt Eric are you? Ernie? Grin oh Phil and holly?
