So I'm 9 weeks pregnant after a few early losses last year, and I had a scan on the 10th Feb that showed a healthy baby with a heartbeat. Yesterday and today however, I've had brownish red discharge... Nowhere near enough to fill a pad (it's only when I wipe) and no clots. So why do I feel so hopeless and like 'it's all over'? Got doctors this morning to ask for an epu referral as they won't see me without one. I'm so so so worried :(

questionable I can't take a 6yr old child to an appointment where I'll most likely be told I'm miscarrying and be a mess emotionally.

I'm Essex, so a bit too far to come. I think it's terrible they can't see you today. So horrible to leave you waiting like this.

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:02

I know, but the fact that they don't seem very concerned is giving me a bit of hope... Or maybe they're just being heartless.
As soon as I mentioned no cramps and no clotting it's like they didn't wanna know :(

When you had your early losses last year what was your GPs procedure then OP? Did they refer you straight away or tell you to go in only when/if the bleeding got to a certain level?

(I'm Midlands too, and my only experience of this is a MASSIVE bleed at 15 weeks - DH drove me to A&E and they were all for sending me home to let me get on with it!)

Rottweilers · 20/02/2018 08:09

Flowers your local doctors ect sound bloody useless.
Take it easy OP, and difficult as it is, try not to overthink about it and stress yourself out.
Are you still havin the appointment for Thursday ?

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:16

laiste my GPs weren't involved... 2 of them were chemical pregnancies and ended before 6 weeks, one was a MMC and for that one I literally turned up at the EPU in another County and told them I needed to be scanned due to the pain level.
There is still a little glimmer of hope due to me having no cramps and no clots but I'm struggling to see a positive outcome here.

Can you call 111. They may be able to circumnavigate the healthcare system or have a GP you can speak with initially. Sorry this sounds horrid for you.

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:18

This is the bleeding I had this morning... Sorry for anyone who is squeamish :(

OP posts:
FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:20

fluffy I've spoken to 111 also, they transferred me to the nursing team at my local A&E... They really don't seem concerned and said as this is my 3rd day of spotting that they'd expect to see cramps and/or clots by now if it was a miscarriage. Also apparently the amount of blood is classed as spotting not bleeding. It seems so much though :(

I'm so sorry your going through this... I'm midlands too... can't say I'm happy with the level of maternity care in this area.. I hope it all works out for you xx

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:32

korez certainly in the West Midlands where I am, the level of care is atrocious!

HyenaHappy · 20/02/2018 08:41

So sorry that you’re going through this anxious time OP. Be kind to yourself today, rest and snuggle with your LO. Praying for a positive outcome. Flowers

Worldsworstcook · 20/02/2018 08:47

Op I'm really very sorry, there's nothing anyone can do for you today and nothing we can say to make you feel any better or give you comfort.

I know it seems hopeless but don't give up
In the future. Whatever the heartache it's worth it.

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:49

Thank you hyena I have my fingers and legs tightly crossed... Spotting seems to be yoyoing between bright red watery and brown staining, so I really don't have a clue what's going on :(

OP posts:
Worldsworstcook · 20/02/2018 08:49

Didn't see your last update! Don't give up hope OP till you are told otherwise. I'll be thinking of you today 🤞

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:52

worldsworstcook thanks, I am hoping and praying to any and all Gods that everything is fine and that I just have a leaky something somewhere, my body has always been a bit shit so it wouldn't surprise me.

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 08:59

Also, my mom (who used to be a nurse) has just pointed out to me what looks to her like a sub chorionic haematoma on my scan picture :/ she said that would explain the lack of clots and cramps and also it would explain why the spotting comes and goes...

FellOutOfBed2wice · 20/02/2018 09:12

With my second DD I had so much bleeding- much worse than that- bright red and copious and they never found out why or could come up with a reason but it was all fine. It’s awful and so worrying but try and think positive if you can.

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 09:18

felloutofbed really? Did you have clots etc? Or did it look like mine, but just heavier?

OP posts:
Thissameearth · 20/02/2018 09:18

Ive had a miscarriage at about 6/7 weeks and went to EPU without referral (after calling them - GP signposted to there as obv they can’t scan etc) because I had one sided pain and had been bleeding for around 2 weeks and didn’t know I was pregnant - as I had had a negative test and then thought the bleeding was my period. They scanned and checked my bloods for hcg levels decreasing as they couldn’t see anything in utero but given my hcg levels could see there had been/was pregnancy and were concerned about ectopic. There wasn’t and I bled more heavily thick dark clotted blood and then it stopped and I had a normal period a few weeks later.

Pregnant again within 2 months and bled at 6 weeks but with no pain and called EPU who got me in for a scan and said all was well and could see tiny heartbeat but had haematoma. Had big red bleed couple of days later and was told couldn’t scan for me for 5 days as scan more frequently than 1 week apart would tell them nothing. Longest week of my life. Baby fine and is here safely now although I bled until 11 weeks or so same as you small but constant amounts but needing only liner rather than a pad. It’s horrible to see blood. But I think EPU only got me in second time when I had no pain because they’d seen me very recently for miscarriage. unless it’s accompanied by pain (and shoulder pain is big sign of ectopic and should be investigated urgently I was told) then I think they’re really relaxed even if we’re definitely not. So in my experience consistent small amount of bleeding without pain resolved itself and had a good outcome. Hope it’s the same for you.

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 09:20

Wow, so it seems quite common then? Maybe I'm just being over dramatic!

OP posts:
LittleLionMansMummy · 20/02/2018 09:25

Don't give up hope op. I had clots and period like cramps early in my first pregnancy. I had given up hope but the bleeding stopped as quickly as it had started. Ds is now a cheeky, very lively 7yo. Fingers crossed everything turns out ok for you and so sorry for everything you've been through already. Flowers

Laiste · 20/02/2018 09:32

No don't give up hope. The bleed at 15 weeks i was on about earlier was ..... WARNING TMI ........

heavy enough to woosh all down my legs, flood my flip flops and make a puddle on the floor.

Went to A&E with DH distraught, as i said they wanted to send me home because ''if it's a MC they can't stop it anyway''. I fainted as i got off the bed so they decided to keep me in overnight. Got scanned in the morning (what an awful night waiting) and she was fine wiggling about in there. No one could tell what all the blood was about and it didn't happen again.

Flowers Fingers crossed for you.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 20/02/2018 10:21

Oh op. Sending positive thoughts Flowers

Sorry I'm no where near or else I'd offer to come over to take you to see someone.

Do you still have the appointment Thursday? I know it feels like ages away by try to rest up as much as you can.

I'm really shocked by the level of care in your area. Even at that early stage when I had bleeds I was seen the same day or the next day

FuckMyUterus · 20/02/2018 10:31

Yes, still have the appointment Thursday. The spotting seems to vary and change so quickly... Like I've just had quite a bit of blood (about 2 tablespoons I'd estimate) and a very tiny bright red clot, thought something was happening, but no, nothing, nada, nowt!
Obviously I'm hoping it's good news but if it's not, I just wish it would happen and not keep me wondering and hoping!
