Trump Talk: or, Lift every voice and sing

It's Black History Month and the fight goes on (plus, we all need a boost that does not come from ye olde hop flask).

Lift every voice and sing

Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us.

Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;

Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,

Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,

God of our silent tears,
Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who hast by Thy might

Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,

May we forever stand.

True to our God,
True to our native land.

James Weldon Johnson (1900)

Dismissing without prejudice? Wink

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 27/02/2018 17:01

Isn’t that how plea agreements work? You cooperate in exchange for lighter/fewer sentences

cozietoesie · 27/02/2018 17:05

Manu Raju
@mkraju
Grassley and Blumenthal write letter to FBI Director Wray and WH Counsel McGahn asking for details about individuals in the WH with interim security clearances, asking about the process for granting one, what they’re allowed to access, including if they can access PDB

I wonder if the Cambridge Analytica 'revisioning' has anything to do with the 3 warrants that were reported to be heading to the UK?

Thanks for all the links. I'm trying not to engage too deeply as it's starting to affect my wellbeing. Kudos to everyone for keeping going. ThanksThanksGin

Am I right in thinking that if he’d plead/been found guilty of tax evasion, Gates would have been required to pay the tax as well as prison, but there’s no financial penalty for lying to the FBI?

Didn’t all the federal indictments have corresponding state charges? If so, what’s happened to them?

PerkingFaintly · 27/02/2018 17:50

I'll start a new thread - but give me a mo and please don't run out of this one up while I'm scratching my chin!Grin

cozietoesie · 27/02/2018 17:56

Well done, Perking. Smile

My instinct is that the 'without prejudice' is not insignificant, gin.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 27/02/2018 17:56

I’ll sneak one more post on this thread to say that the uk indictments don’t appear to have originated beyond one twitter account, so would wait for more info before assuming they’re fact. I don’t think they’re anything but rumour but would be thrilled to be mistaken.

Ah, so we’re playing chicken tonight? Grin Someone PM me if we misjudge & overfill this one.
