Trump Talk: or, Lift every voice and sing

It's Black History Month and the fight goes on (plus, we all need a boost that does not come from ye olde hop flask).

Lift every voice and sing

Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us.

Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;

Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,

Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,

God of our silent tears,
Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who hast by Thy might

Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,

May we forever stand.

True to our God,
True to our native land.

James Weldon Johnson (1900)

There is a greater chance of me winning the Most Excellent Beauteous Queen of the World™ contest than there is of Scrotus even swatting a baby spider off someone's arm, let alone charging into a school to save children from a gunman.

And the MEBQotW™ contest doesn't even exist! (yet)

Bernie Sanders and an aide brush back questions about Mueller indictments of the Russians - and how they allegedly helped his campaign. One of his aides stepped in front of me to shield the senator and prevent me from asking questions. Aide bumped into me, saying “Not right now.”

Sanders then said: “It’s time for the president of the United States to step up to the plate and do what everyone knows is right and tell the Russians that they’re not going to interfere in America.” Asked him a follow if Russians aided his campaign, he grunted, walked into a mtg

I tried to tell the aide it’s not OK to physically bump a reporter asking questions in the Capitol halls, and all he said repeatedly was “goodbye” as he departed on an elevator

Lawsuit alleges a 7-year-old girl was taken from her mother "screaming and crying" just days after the pair came to the U.S. seeking asylum. Mother and daughter are now at detention facilities 2,000 miles apart.

cozie He'd shit a plaid rabbit and ooze straight through to China. Then he'd hide his armory of guns. He's already 'got a plan for that'.

I've already heard his 'opinions' verbal vomit on gun control. Basically everybody he approves of should be allowed to own everything from a pop-gun to a bazooka, and as many of them as they want. The 2nd Amendment guarantees it, doncha know. Because WE are the 'well regulated militia', not the armed forces! The AF is to protect us against 'foreign invasion'. The 'well regulated militia' is for when the 'government turns on us'. Obvs the Scrotus Regime would never do that, they're PRO America!!!! Deranged. Absolutely bonkers.

TBH, I've been tempted to turn him in as some of his firearms aren't exactly legal. The only problem is that DH would know that I was the one who did it. DH and I have a 'detente' on this. A detente that is currently being renegotiated.

Oh, my God. This is so, so huge. Lockton provides nearly ALL of the NRA's insurance brokerage services! 👏👏
I honestly didn't think we'd get this one… this was the longest-shot, in my opinion, but the biggest one if we got them. Thank you, everyone, who helped!

Meanwhile on the Korean Peninsula: all is not restful. I expect a statement missile on the horizon.

Resumption of Military Exercises Is Challenge to DPRK: Rodong Sinmun

^Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- As known, as the door to dialogue was opened between the north and the south after a long stall and the trend for improvement of their relations was seen, the Trump group became vociferous about the immediate resumption of Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military drills after the Winter Olympics.

Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Monday says:

The resumption of joint military exercises is a vicious challenge to the entire Korean nation hoping for détente and durable peace on the Korean peninsula and the DPRK making all possible efforts for the improvement of the north-south relations. It, therefore, can never be tolerated.

The peaceful environment on the Korean peninsula is a prerequisite to the improvement of the north-south ties.

However, the U.S. and its followers are trying hard to resume the exercises and thus quench the spirit for the improvement of the north-south ties and strain the military stand-off and tension to the maximum and, furthermore, stifle the DPRK by force at any cost.

Now the Trump group is calling for the resumption of the exercises on one hand and it is introducing huge preemptive attack means such as nuclear carrier and nuclear strategic bombers to and around south Korea on the other hand while spreading the story about "preventive preemptive attack" on someone.

If the U.S. resumes the joint military exercises, we will resolutely counter them.^

'In a statement regarding the end of several corporate partnerships, the jilted NRA criticized the companies' decision and promised other companies would fill their places.

"[S]ome corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice," the statement read. "In time, these brands will be replaced by others."'

I can’t believe this tweet isn’t going viral. Do people not really care that Facebook may have systematically charged the Clinton campaign an order of magnitude or two more than it was charging Trump to reach American voters? (Which is not allowed in other mediums by law.)

We should all care about how social media platforms play a part in our democratic process. Because unless it’s addressed it will happen again. The midterms are in 8 months. We owe it to our democracy to get this right, and fast.
