To think Labours Lily Madigan is really just trolling?

Young Lily (Woman’s Officer) seems to be going out of their way to rile up and insult women. I can only think either Lily is trolling for laughs or is on a little power trip. I’d love to know what MPs reallty think of their young controversial protege. How far is Labour willing to support Lily?

Yes that works for me @VladmirsPoutine

Sorry for that!

anonirat · 19/02/2018 22:59

It seems that all that is needed is I feeel therefore I am... unless you are a female who wants to become a man and then coincidentally inherit title (and wealth and a seat in the Lords) under primogeniture. In cases like that you cannot become a real man.

StickThatInYourPipe · 19/02/2018 22:59

I personally think calling me a cis-female is Mis-gendering me.

I am a woman / female / girl (at a very big push Wink)

Gileswithachainsaw · 19/02/2018 23:01

Sorry I was only using it from a quote from a tweet.

I nearly choked on my toast at the lesbian erasure pinned tweet.

Icomehereseekingpeas · 19/02/2018 23:06

Interestingly I would love to hear from the side of a female to male trans person. I do wonder how they feel about what is current affairs. Just to get a broader view. It all seems to be an agenda pushed by males at the mo.

beepthemeep · 19/02/2018 23:08

My cousin is FTM (albeit with zero treatments/counselling and lives with a straight boyfriend).

As far as I can see, they make a big effort on Facebook etc to correct people's views - on things like BBC links - if they see what they think is bigotry and to try and explain in a polite way how they see it.

That's it. No death threats. No lady penis. No demands to be let into male only spaces!

VladmirsPoutine · 19/02/2018 23:09

That is exactly what I think @Icomehereseekingpeas FTM just get on with things (in the main, I'm sure there's a few rogues) BUT this is largely an agenda being pushed by men. And as you said earlier, I'm also a 'live and let live' type of person but this has gone too far. It has veritably gone insane.

Icomehereseekingpeas · 19/02/2018 23:11

I can totally respect that @beepthemeep, no harm is being done.

DarthArts · 19/02/2018 23:12

To those saying LM is an irrelevance and or engaging in discussion of his actions is fuelling his infamy I'd respectfully disagree.

As pp's have already said, his appointment set a very important precedent within the Labour Party.

Moreover, his continuing use of the public profile and platform appointment provided to socialise what is unarguably a misogynistic agenda is extremely disconcerting as he is able to do so without censor or reprimand from the party.

He is part of group that is deliberately "hunting down" female party members who are gender critical. He has admitted he was looking forward to using Party data to achieve this.

He's recently forced a Labour Candidate to shut down their social media (an important electoral campaigning tool) by accusing them of transphobia for posting about a guide to support Trans children where LM mis-read conversation therapy for conversion therapy. No back tracking though - just a continuing bombardment of dis-information about a leaflet he can't possibly have read with any degree of care.

A continuous stream of inflammatory and inaccurate social media posts where there is an utter refusal to engage in respectful debate. Interesting tactic for a wannabe politician....

It's not really about LM at all. It's about a social climate and really quite insidious culture within the Labour Party that allows (nay encourages) this behaviour and is actively supporting the erosion of woman's voices by making it virtually impossible to speak up without being accused of hatespeach when you point out a woman doesn't have a dick.

I think that's pretty damn important to talk about

  • irrespective of whether LM is a cause or (what I believe to be the) effect of the momentum phenomenon.
beepthemeep · 19/02/2018 23:13

I worried about it for a long time as they didn't seem happy at all, despite the insistence on being called by a male name etc. Now that they are in a committed relationship, they are happy, so that's great.

But it's almost as if the differences in how some men and women behave are still there in all their male entitlement with people like LM, isn't it?!

DarthArts · 19/02/2018 23:15

Sorry for the typos - I was getting a bit stabby with my fingers as I was typing out my frustration Grin

Icomehereseekingpeas · 19/02/2018 23:19

Exactly @beepthemeep, it's male entitlement under another guise. It's deeply worrying. I can't vote for Labour while this plays out and I have done so all my voting life. Not sure what the alternative is.

Garmadonsmum · 19/02/2018 23:36

In a world where politicians and public figures are increasingly held accountable table for their social media contributions (even ones from years ago) it seems incomprehensible that this person can continue to post such vitriolic twaddle with no censure from the party.

Bejazzled · 20/02/2018 00:23

just read the link

Unbefuckinlievable

cista · 20/02/2018 03:36

This will haunt the poor kid for life. We need pity, not anger. Sad

But he's going to be punished for this phase in the worst way possible. You can't delete the Internet.

Lily is trying to delete the internet though.

Lily is denying (and blaming Lily's brother) for an earlier twitter account with references to Jimmy Saville's apprentice and other quite frankly revolting comments.

Lily is also deleting nearly as many tweets and Lily writes, and denying their existence. In fact Lily's twitter feed contains a disclaimer that not all tweets are written by Lily, giving Lily a cast-iron excuse for denial Hmm

anonirat · 20/02/2018 04:50

Yes blackberry exactly.

What the womens lists need are more disabled candidates - with the additional support we may need to carry out the work. Where is the cache in that though?

cista Poor LM? and all the women and girls affected, side-lined, intimidated, scared, concerned, disillusioned, slienced... history might well punish LM, but women are also suffering NOW and if self-ID continues more will suffer. Faceless and platformless though so who cares about them? The 000,000,000s of MeToo# experiences - compassion runs out after 'too many' stories...

This is whole thing with LM's situation (and Peto etc), Mouncey and TIMs in general - they manage to have a massive and disproportionate effect on women. They literally jump the queue, right to the top, simply for being trans/ TIMs and push 99% of all other women to the side! Doesn;t matter that they may be pawns or media fodder, they get the platform eg Mouncey writing on women's knee injuries - they get to be the manspalining experts.

But it is 000s of women looking at and argusing with a few individuals (ooh doesn't that seem mean) but they are right there staring aggressively defiantly back, in way that no woman would or could.

As Blackeberry says politically powerful, able-bodied, middle-class, white male (some are young but they aren't as disadvantaged by age as women are) yet we are supposed to pity them? (I do a bit but not for those reasons)

I don't advocate race to the bottom nastiness, but equally, women are held back by always having to be so bloody 'nice'... or pandering I should say. Give empathy and compassion but we should damn well receive it back.

anonirat · 20/02/2018 04:51

*cachet obviously

Exactly this. It's insidious and dangerous in equal measure.

When you look at the Saville's apprentice stuff and consider the allegations against Peto (if they are true, of course) it is a certain type of man who tends to jump on the trans bandwagon. Whatever it is they are aiming to do, it sure as hell isn't going to benefit women.

OrderOnline · 20/02/2018 08:40

Any other new member campaigning against a Labour candidate and trying to kick out long standing activists, would be considered a Tory plant.

Flomper · 20/02/2018 08:43

Of course he is. He's a pissed off what 19? 20? year old non gender conforming boy who's been bullied at school because of it, rejected by his family maybe, and in any other times, would have gone to university, got away from school and home, come out, grown up a but and probaby just have become a bitchy queen. Why hes been but in a position of influence is beyond me.
