Try entering this: women killed in 2017. See what the first page of results looks like. I'll post a screenshot of what I got in a bit.

It’s not a conspiracy
It’s just some tech people altering the google ratings
If you go over to the feminism boards you’ll find a lot of trans widows have ex husbands who are all very high powered in the tech industry
Go figure

ljlkk · 13/02/2018 22:02

"Private" browsing on Safari (so no history). I get maybe 50% transW pages in English (uk or nz google), but no transW pages on google Spain/Mexico.

I don't care what I get, though.

From tra on google search... I got "transferring inheritance into UK" as top suggestion. Nothing medication or Transperson related in top 10+.

PencilsInSpace · 13/02/2018 22:03

I got the same result and I've never Googled anything trans. If anything I find the anti trans hysteria on MN somewhat ridiculous.

Prize for the most cognitively dissonant post on the whole of MN Star

I google trans stuff all the time so I tried in a new private window. Top 2, and 7/10 results on first page are trans.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 13/02/2018 22:03

Oh FFS! Google personalise it results based on your internet history

They can’t be that good at it, outside of being on MN i spend 80% of my time on the net on various violence against women resources and the rest on safeguarding resources.
And I got the same results as the op.

ChickenPaws · 13/02/2018 22:08

The results are better if you type in the word ‘female’.

kmc1111 · 13/02/2018 22:15

I get news stories about domestic violence in Australia, India and the US (my three most visited countries last year). Nothing about trans women on the first two pages at least.

Meandmy4 · 13/02/2018 22:15

Well i did it and got nothing like you pp have Confused

Betti936 · 13/02/2018 22:36

When I do it 7 out of the 10 top entries are about trans people. That's in a private browsing window so I don't think it is based on any previous searches.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/02/2018 22:59

if you typoe in women killed by trans activists you only get results of murdered trans people.

exWifebeginsat40 · 13/02/2018 23:06

oh! this one of my favourites! ‘LOADS OF IT PEOPLE ARE TRANS AND ALL TRANSGENDER PEOPLE WORK IN IT AND ARE UPSETTING THE INTERNET ON PURPOSE’ as if there is a shadowy cabal of transgender nerds, tappety-tapping away in a gender neutral control room somewhere.

your settings in your settings in your settings control what Siri or search engines can glean from your internet use. your microphone settings give permission to quite a lot of things unless you switch them off. add in the fact that Facebook hasn’t told everyone about the new settings within settings that actually control your privacy, and that it sells every keyword it can lay its hands on, and perhaps all the Woke among you might understand more about your search results. same as all those ridiculous facebook quizzes and photo-changers. data mining at its finest, and data mining helps the internet learn the things you like to do.

out of interest, did any of you refine your searches, find the women-murders you were looking for and see if you could do anything, maybe find a cause that helps families of victims? anybody involved themselves with women in prison to make their outcomes better? did you care about women in prison before? i mean, you can say any old thing - but your conscience might give a little twinge.

the only trans ‘agenda’ here is the one propagated in the patented Mumsnet Echo Chamber. and it ain’t a positive or even a neutral one.

but, do carry on. you only expose your own moral compasses. you will insist that you should not be judged for your stance. but, know that you ARE being judged. you’re not being good humans.

Huntinginthedark · 13/02/2018 23:11

@exWifebeginsat40
You clearly have no idea how the searches work in general.
We as a company have 2 full time people working on making sure our website comes up on the first page.
Working out which algorithms work.
This is no conspiracy, this is just people making sure the websites they’ve set up come up top ranking in the searches
This is based on many different things.

But say I had a company that sold gold wine glasses, if I was clever with my website and contents I could make sure that I came top. And that I epecially came top if there had been previous searches for gold or silver or pink wine glasses because I can use key terms in my content.

Your post is slightly hysterical.

Huntinginthedark · 13/02/2018 23:13

So I presume someone is being clever with the websites that rank in the top 10
And that’s their perogative.
It’s just very interesting to think about why that is the case. And why the need for it is felt to be strong

Agerbilatemycardigan · 13/02/2018 23:17

I typed Murdered women in the UK and I got the Karen Ingala links

exWifebeginsat40 · 13/02/2018 23:44

ohh, so it’s ok for you call me ‘hysterical’. only, a bit further up, that word was used to describe one of the anti-trans posters. and a great wailing and gnashing of teeth did occur, because that word is a terrible insult designed to belittle and erase Real Women.

anyway. i’m not sure you got the gist of my hysterical, anti-women rant. i was explaining which settings might affect search engine results, not suggesting that Eddie Izzard controls the Dark Internet with his friend Bob (who wears dresses in order to cheat at important running races). that’s ok. some people aren’t good at comprehension. but, check your settings. just in case, eh?

Huntinginthedark · 13/02/2018 23:46

I didn’t call you hysterical
I said your post was a bit hysterical

Huntinginthedark · 13/02/2018 23:47

Sorry slightly hysterical

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 13/02/2018 23:47

Just out of curiousity I googled men killed in 2017 and got no trans results.

I do get all trans results when I google women killed though.

exWifebeginsat40 · 13/02/2018 23:50

sorry, i can’t hear you over the whirr of your massive back-pedalling. a word is either a slur, or not. i think you know that.

trojanpony · 13/02/2018 23:50

Literally WTF????

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 13/02/2018 23:51

Black, it’s because you didn’t type the word ‘in’. As in, “women killed in 2017”. I don’t know why it makes such a difference.

Huntinginthedark · 13/02/2018 23:53

I’m not back tracking at all!
I’ve never called anyone hysterical on here or in RL

noeffingidea · 13/02/2018 23:55

I just typed in 'murdered women 2017' and no mention of transgendered persons until near the end of page 2. Perhaps google have reacted to the earlier reports.

noeffingidea · 13/02/2018 23:58

Though 'women killed in 2017' still turns up the first page of results as murders of transgendered persons.

ScienceIsTruth · 13/02/2018 23:58

This is what I get. Trans stuff is there, but at the bottom.

Does everybody get this result on Google?
PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 14/02/2018 00:02

Try typing women killed in 2017 instead of just women killed 2017. Apparently that one word makes a difference.
