Try entering this: women killed in 2017. See what the first page of results looks like. I'll post a screenshot of what I got in a bit.

Bit off subject, but if some of you read French, this is a libé article that really chilled me, it lists the women known to have been killed by their partners last year in France. It's a sobering but interesting read.

www.liberation.fr/france/2017/06/30/elle-s-appelait-aurelie-elle-avait-34-ans-il-lui-a-tire-dessus-au-fusil-de-chasse-une-annee-de-meurt_1580445

Searching in German seems to bring up mainly stories about women and domestic violence.

Yes. Also a report about 2 Germans killed in Egypt and 26 women / girls (age 14 to 18) murdered on a refugee ship...

PompholyxOfUnknownOrigin · 13/02/2018 13:41

Typing “UK women killed 2017” brings up no transgender items.
But of course there were no or almost no murders of transwomen in the UK in 2017 anyway, thankfully. (Despite what you may have been led to believe).

Rainatnight · 13/02/2018 13:44

Mine was about 50% trans.

I find this chilling.

pimmsy · 13/02/2018 13:52

I've just checked in French and I get lists of famous women who died in 2017

norfolkenclue · 13/02/2018 13:59

This is what I got when I typed 'number of women killed in UK last year'. So it seems to be all about the specific terminology you use. Outrageous really!

Does everybody get this result on Google?
floriad · 13/02/2018 13:59

@pimmsy

I didn't read the whole article but yes, it was chilling.
Also:
71,9% of the women killed in Italy during the last 10 years were killed by family members (usually husband or partners).
16% of women are reported to have experienced stalking.

and 78% of female stalking victims didn't go to the police or an other organisation. (that one I find especially horrible....)

SumThucker · 13/02/2018 14:04

Jesus tonight, all 10 links on the Google page were trans, WTF indeed!
I'm also in Spain at the moment and checked on my daughter's iPad and got the same, she's certainly not looked up trans things in the past.
Diabolical.

Oh FFS! Google personalise it results based on your internet history.

I've never googled anything about trans stuff and I got the same results.

MissionItsPossible · 13/02/2018 14:07

It's nothing to do with your posting history, it's a Google bomb.

snash12 · 13/02/2018 14:07

FYI the same stuff comes up when you google "Men murdered in 2017"

MissionItsPossible · 13/02/2018 14:08

Tors33 · 13/02/2018 14:08

This is what came up when I typed it into google

Does everybody get this result on Google?
Tors33 · 13/02/2018 14:11

I've also never Google docs transgender either

Beanteam · 13/02/2018 14:16

I use bing to search and no mention of transgender. Did search on google and it brought up same as OP

SumThucker · 13/02/2018 14:16

Can't believe how much this has pissed me off Angry

Beanteam · 13/02/2018 14:18

This is US news- maybe there has been some major news incident/ media article/ scandal that is bringing this to top due to US searches.

Terftastic · 13/02/2018 14:26

SO should we all go onto bing then?

I'm liking google less and less at the moment.

floriad · 13/02/2018 14:30

btw, tried the same using Firefox.

The overall content of the first google search page remained the same.

But the very first result was about women killed fighting for human rights (and not about trans people).

And the 4 article is: "Percent of Women Killed by Husbands or Boyfriends - The Atlantic"

Google is broken, and has been for years.

www.theregister.co.uk/2018/02/02/web_searching_died_the_day_they_invented_seo/

sums it up.

Google search is a great proxy for the state (or otherwise) of this here "artificial intelligence" we are told will change our lives. As of 2018, I'm not overly worried ....

MountainDweller · 13/02/2018 15:03

Yep 7/10 trans items. I don't search for trans stuff but read threads here (on the app not www) and click on some links,

Typing in "tra" into google the the other day (searching for tranexamic acid) immediately suggested transgender, trans woman and related stuff even though I have never searched for anything trans related. (Given my search history tranexamic acid would be much more likely!) Try it!

BuckingFrolicks2 · 13/02/2018 15:45

Same here. I've complained. I'm so far beyond peak trans I've entered some kind of eternally flat landscape in which a handful of women are trying to dig back down to reality. It's like a trans plateau on top of Everest, is how far I've peaked.

Tinty · 13/02/2018 15:53

Yes I got the same result, all trans related and I have never googled anything to do with trans women.

Chifi · 13/02/2018 15:54

In Ireland and got mostly trans links back. I've never searched or even written the word 'trans' before this post. Shock
