Romeo? 🤔

(TBH, Apple is just as bad...)

But, seriously, celebrity names are stupid!

OP posts:
raspberrysuicide · 13/02/2018 19:51

At a trampoline place the other week someone called Juniper was having a birthday party. I didn't see if it was a boy or girl but I thought it was quite unusual.

snowone · 13/02/2018 19:55

I like Romeo when it is pronounced correctly (the Italian way) which is Ro-may-o Smile

pollymere · 13/02/2018 20:04

I thought Stormy was the brother of Pusheen, the internet kitten??

Tapandgo · 13/02/2018 20:07

sprot
Isis means Jesus apparently

Tapandgo · 13/02/2018 20:08

Or sorry - think ISA means Jesus

Aragog · 13/02/2018 20:10

raspberrysuicide - I have taught a Juniper - a girl.

ISIS is an Egyptian goddess I think.

AlexDrake1981 · 13/02/2018 20:11

It was Jason Lee, JanetStWalker.

nakedscientist · 13/02/2018 20:12

Bertrand
Its Duncan Jones!

Atticusss · 13/02/2018 20:14

I don't mind it. I still wonder why people pick names from the top 10.

MikeUniformMike · 13/02/2018 20:23

Because often the top 10 names are lovely.
Some names grow on you when you hear them a lot.
Some names are popular without you knowing. They might seem a bit out when the baby is named there but when Noah or Elodie starts school and they are one of many.

MikeUniformMike · 13/02/2018 20:24

That should have read
They might seem a bit out there when the baby is named
not
They might seem a bit out when the baby is named there

crocodarl · 13/02/2018 20:34

Tighnabruaich would that be Versace McClatchy? Think I've heard about them too.

Also, in Glasgow once, I've heard a mother screeching "FABIO! Get here NOW!" At a chubby wee ginger lad with freckles.

nakedscientist · 13/02/2018 20:51

Once on a campsite, heard camping neighbours call their kids. ...."Tiger and Tuscany its time for your tea!"

Smudge100 · 13/02/2018 21:02

Latreen/Latrine is a bit unfortunate, though not unusual in our neck of the woods,as is Sid Timothy. Jesus is just asking for trouble.

iklboo · 13/02/2018 21:04

Blimey. DS is stoked because he's met a boy with the massively unusual name of

Bernard.

savingmysanity · 13/02/2018 21:07

I love my weird middle name more than my normal first name sometimes, they grow on you

MrsKoala · 13/02/2018 21:08

Hanuta - my ds is Lysander. What's wrong with that? Confused It's an actual name which happened to be used by Shakespeare. He didn't make it up. The original Lysander was a Spartan general who fought Athens and freed slaves. The name means Freer of men/liberator.

OzziePopPop · 13/02/2018 21:15

I taught sisters, Angel and Tuppence (seriously) horse riding years ago. Angel I suppose is just about ok for a pretty little girl but Tuppence... poor child... they came to us for horse riding lessons with their more normally named friend, Lucy!

MrsKoala · 13/02/2018 21:17

When i grew up Jonty was just a standard abbreviation for Jonathan. Has something changed? Is it now suddenly some kind of uber posh name? Confused

Wavingnotdowning · 13/02/2018 21:24

Always wondered what happened to the poor girl called Wendy ....... Ankers at my Primary School. Hope she married/changed her name for something better!!

iklboo · 13/02/2018 21:25

Lysander is a great name. And Leander.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/02/2018 21:26

The worst I know is Castiel, I privately said noooooooo when I heard it.

josbd · 13/02/2018 21:28

I am a long-suffering West Ham supporter. Our player with a man-bun, Andy Carroll, has recently named his son: Wolf Nine

Poor child.

RidingWindhorses · 13/02/2018 21:30

Lysander and Tybalt are great names.

RidingWindhorses · 13/02/2018 21:31

Wolf is fairly common in Germany.
