Romeo? 🤔

(TBH, Apple is just as bad...)

But, seriously, celebrity names are stupid!

I’ve had the unfortunate experience to come across brothers called Leonidas and Maximus. My cousin who works with children has come across sister Pepsi and SodaPop.
Oh dear Shock

You also have to consider that some of these overheard names may not be the child's actual name. My DS only answered to Moose for many years. That's not his name.

Thanks for reminding me of that absolute gem, floozy.

Australians Laura Bingle and Sam Worthington called their children Rocket Zot Worthington (2014) and Racer Worthington (2016).

Sorry - Racer was born in 2015!

@JanetStWalker The actor Jason Lee (from my name is earl) named his son that travesty! it's still by far the worst name I've heard any celebrity name their child. He's got to be a teenager now, I'd love to know what he thinks of his name.

I seen a birthday mention on cbeebies for twin girls, Viktory and Success 😱

A lady I used to work with had a baby grandson called Roy.

I work with a little boy called Mark. Always makes me smile, it's so old fashioned.

I quite like Romeo actually. If i was a celebrity I would probably give my child an unusual name.

I know an Aeneas, a Demetrius and an Astolph. I feel rather sorry for the latter, tbh.

My mum is a Morag and it's just the ugliest name. Obviously I'd never say that to her but my granny has terrible taste because my auntie's name isn't much better.

My midwife colleague delivered a La-A, pronounced Ladasha. We honestly thought the registrar would refuse it but unfortunately not.

Course she did.

Ironic! Romeo is one of the few of the gems above that's actually a prefectly normal name - albeit not a commonly used one in the UK.

Everyone and their granny knows a La-A story on here...

Of course this thread is going to go the way it usually does...with posters popping up with comments about other peoples names aka 'Ladasha' which then shows them up as the ignorant wallies they really are Hmm.

I've seen a birth announcement for Kennedy Sky with big sister Younique.
It get's better, though. It was in Germany and both parents had fairly normal German names and a very German family name.

As Beckham names go I don't think Romeo or Harper are too bad. Don't like the names Brooklyn or Cruz at all.

I thought La-A was an urban myth?

I thought Germany was quite strict re names insofar as the name of the child had to (accurately) reflect their sex?

LemonShark, Mercedes is a Spanish name. I think it means mercy.

Why the German Mr Benz chose a Spanish girls' name for one of his early cars, I don't know.

Lysander, Adonis, Leonidas, Maximos Aeneas and Demetrius are not weird if you're Greek.

This thread has just made me wonder why people don't go with many other great Shakespearean names. I've really missed a trick with DS, he could have been Banquo, Dogberry or Clitus (I'd love to hear the mispronunciations of THAT one!) Grin

People with traditional names are more successful.

I wish parents would consider this before choosing silly names.

If you have rich celebrity parents you probably will never need to work so it's not a problem.
