Romeo? 🤔

(TBH, Apple is just as bad...)

But, seriously, celebrity names are stupid!

Bertrand

David Bowie was David Jones. His son is Duncan Jones. Zowie is his middle name, though I think he was called Zowie for some time when he was younger, it was never his official first name.

I would rather call my child Romeo than some of the other boring overused names that every other child is called at the moment. Each to their own!

There was a Russian man competing in the luge yesterday whose first name was Semen. I assume it’s a perfectly sensible name in Russia, but it doesn’t work so well in English. (He probably doesn’t care about that though).

I always wonder if my name seems really weird in another language. It probably does, somewhere.

Romeo to me means womaniser

I heard a child say 'But Daddy, is Jonty here today?' at swimming once. Which means that somewhere in the world there is a real person called Jonty. I thought it was a joke posh person name Confused

My friend's wife is called Apple. She's not from the UK so it might be a common name in her culture.

Stormi's middle name is Knight.

I knew a couple of boys named Jonty when I was growing up. I also knew an Arriminta which I always think of as the female equivalent.

I think Apple is lovely. It's only the same as Rose, Cherry, Daisy etc. A nature name with a lovely fresh sound.

Romeo is fine, but has far too many connotations for a kid to carry, imo.

The Wests seem to be just randomly picking words out of thin air to name their kids with. I'm waiting for 'Exchange Rate Mechanism West' in a couple of years Hmm

DD goes to nursery with a Dennis. I love that there’s a 3yo boy called Dennis Grin

As others have said, Romeo is an actual name so for me it’s far down the list of “WTF Celeb Kid’s Names”

I lost a bit of respect for Jensen Ackles when I discovered his kids were called Justice Jay, Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes Hmm

Moon unit hahaha! Yep Romeo wouldn’t be my choice but there are many worse out there

Apple is a big corporation. My almost-lost-in-the-haze-of-time-age-and-wine leftie feelings cringe at it being used as a child's name.

Blanket’s real name is Prince Micheal II. That’s almost as bad as George Foreman’s many George’s, but not as bad as Jermaine Jackson’s child, Jermajesty.

I don’t mind it and I’ve seen much worse names suggested on the baby names topic.

I'm gonna get flamed for this but seeing as this is a thread for our judgments on baby names...

Stormi is exactly the sort of name I expected when I heard about the new baby! It sounds like the kind of name a young immature teen mum would give her cute ickle baby/accessory/source of unconditional love, without having the maturity to consider that a name ought to be suitable both for a baby and an adult. Lacking foresight that babies do grow into adults Hmm

It's like very young mums calling their babies princess, Mercedes, savannah, Chardonnay, just cringe. It does not remotely surprise me a 20 year old pregnant with a man she's dated for a few weeks would choose stormi.

Yes you’re right. All children should be called Jack or Amelia. Anything else is weird and wrong. People should never ever try to be creative or unusual. Or... not. (Think Romeo is lovely... mine would have been Tiger and Ludo if DH hadn’t —got in my way— intervened).

I while back when walking across Tescos car park, there was a mother shouting to her young son who was running away from her, ZEBEDEE! ZEBEDEE! Hmm

It was Tybalt I felt sorry for

It's a good name for a cat though because it means Prince of Cats

Really? Grin So is that why a generic name for a cat (eg in cartoons) is Tibbles?

Another mystery solved

And we do not live anywhere posh where unusual names might be common practice!

Romeo isn't bad compared to some names I come across at work. My midwife colleague delivered a La-A, pronounced Ladasha. We honestly thought the registrar would refuse it but unfortunately not.

I also know a Jonti.

Little toddlers at my play group called Andrew and Keith. Like previously mentioned toddlers Alan and Dennis, I actually really like these names.
Makes a refreshing change from Alfie, Harry, Jack etc.
