I’m 18...Saturday night I would now be listening to Blue and DJ Sammy getting ready to go out to the local.
I’m wearing a two-tone halterneck top, leather look trousers (size 8.. sigh) with a tassle belt. Patent wedges and my hair straightened with my Babyliss steam straighteners! Gold eyeshadow like the one Kylie wears in the “On a Night Like This” video...

Necking a bottle of 20/20 and cheap red wine.

I’ll go out with about £8 in my pocket, dance to Fragma and S Club 7, drink loads of crap (free!) thanks to my school friend who works behind the bar then cadge a couple of Regals to smoke on my way homeGrin

I was 25, planning a new house build and wedding to then fiance (now DH) living in a shit (American) town courtesy of DH's first big job out of graduate school. Roll on 16 years later and we live in an old house in another (sometimes shit) country, again courtesy of DH's job. Some things never change. :)

I was 21. I would have been at home with my 6 month old baby. I was a young single mum with not very much but they were happy times. My son is now a lovely but giant 6ft, sixteen and a half year old. I really can't believe how quickly time passes. It's actually scary to stop and think about it. Life's still good though, I've been extremely lucky.

I was 19, probably already drunk and in a pub somewhere downing shots and loads of Malibu. Would be eyeing up who I was going to take home that night and dancing around a handbag!

Had been with now DH for 2 years and living in his flat. Sat nights were still reserved for best friend and I and a bar crawl round Watford was the usual night out.

Working hard for a fab company, earning lots of money and enjoying my free time immensely.

It was 5 years before

I would have been 24 and probably out on a night out for my birthday as it would have been the closest Saturday to it x
I would have been wearing a sparkly rockettes vest I bought in NYC and jeans with some sort of glitter belt xxx
I just turned 40 this weekend so the thought of being 24 is super depressing

Halfway through the first term of my lectureship. They are working me into the ground - I have just taken half a day off because today is my 30th birthday. It's the first day since 6th January when I have had more than half an hour off apart from sleeping. But I am so lucky to have an academic job that I am just doing the best I can.

DS had moved back in with us after graduating the previous summer, in order to work and earn some money before taking off on a gap year in the spring. DD was about to sit her A-levels before leaving for university in September. So, February 2002 was the last February of family life with all of us living together. DS left in April 2002 and DD in September. We have never all been together in the same house at the same time since.

Just about to turn 24. About to go and break the news to my then boyfriend that I wanted to separate (we lived together). I then went away for work for 18 months. We kept in touch, dated again when I came back and are now married with 3 children so it worked out OK in the end.

I'm 8, and tucked up in bed, meant to be fast asleep but actually reading sneakily by torchlight, in my cosy room at my mums house, home on the family farm ❤️

28, living in central London, ok job, very single and 10% larger than I am now (have actually just calculated that - it's not a ballpark figure). Bit of a lost soul.

Ah memories!

I would have been 18 so......

At this time on a Saturday probably riding "street" on my BMX with a group of mates.
We'd be drinking Jack Daniels and smoking loads of weed.
Riding around the town doing tricks on benches and jumping sets of steps.
With Korn, Sepultura and other metal blaring in my ears from my CD walkman.
I've got my hair in dreads, I'm wearing enormous 3/4 baggy skater shorts I've nicked off a male friend whose twice my size, an XXL band t shirt, and skate trainers.
At some point we will probably have to escape from private security and/or the police.

I was 35 years old, stuck in a town over 300 miles from my home city, trapped in an abusive, desperately unhappy marriage with my DDs, then aged 10 and 9.

Luckily I got out of that marriage in October 2002, and moved back home with my daughters Smile

My dd was 18 in 2002 so I'd have been waiting for the phone call at 2am to go and pick her and her mates up.

I was 19, had started university the previous autumn and had just met the friends who would turn out to be the best I’d had. We had such a laugh going out, getting drunk on Smirnoff Ice and cheeky vimtos, going back for a party in the student halls and listening to cheesy 80s music. I had been pretty lonely and miserable at school and finally it felt like things were starting to turn around for me. Good times.

I was 20 and living in a shared student house whilst at university. This time on a Saturday night I would be getting ready for bed as I worked at a riding school during the weekends/holidays and got up at 6am to get the horses fed & mucked out before lessons began Grin

  1. Having a sleepover at my friends house. Wait until 9pm when her mum would head off into town...get dressed and make our way to the local shop.

Stand outside the SPAR and wait on a creepy/single looking guy, preferably a lot older, to ask to buy us booze...we knew from experience it was always older creeps who would agree to and then try and chat us up as they handed us our booze and change - then you just had to make a run for it away from the creep.

Go to the park and get smashed. Somehow make it home by 2am before friends mum got home.

Working the evening shift at a hotel bar. Right now guests would be in the Ballroom watching the night's entertainment. Soon it would be half-time and huge queue for the drinks. I was mainly looking forward to finishing the shift then all of us staff members going back to the staff rooms for a piss up.

Oh...and I’d have been receiving texts off my DM on one of these (but with a bright pink shiny snap-on cover) asking what time I’d be back home, and rolling my eyes at each one

I was almost 29 - birthday in 2 days. I'd have been about 32 weeks pregnant with Dd.

I had either just finished work or about to (finished at half term) and couldn't wait - nightmare school, poor management, aggressive y9 student had just assaulted me (threw a chair at my stomach) and I just needed out!

We'd just sold our house too - moved at 37 weeks pregnant in the end.

I'd have been having a quiet night in!
