Oh, I've just thought of something.

Chicken heads freak me out.

liz70 · 10/02/2018 09:35

"liquorice that is revolting"

I'll second that. Never could stomach it, along with aniseed. Fuck off Bertie Basset and take your rank Shitorish Allsorts with you, and leave me to my pink shrimps, cola bottles, fruit salad chews and strawberry laces. 70s child talking

floriad · 10/02/2018 09:36

I mean, who isn't freaked out by this?

Don't know if this has already been said, but a veggie family member eats Quorn fish fingers.

Just the thought of Quorn plus the added fakeness of fake fish flavour makes me want to heave.

LoniceraJaponica · 10/02/2018 09:43

It strikes me that many of the dislikes on this thread are more to do with texture than taste.

I tried an oyster on holiday a couple of years ago. It was deep fried in batter as part of a mixed fish dish. I really didn't like the taste. It was a fishy sea taste.

I like most things and will try most foods, but I draw the line at snails. I dislike winkles and whelks and as I have heard that snails are similar texture-wise I will give it a miss.

I admit that I do judge some of the "I don't like any Chinese or any Italian food" posts. These cuisines cover a whole spectrum of dish types that I struggle to believe that there is something they couldn't find to eat.

The food item I loathe the most is parsnips. I don't like beetroot or artichoke much but will eat them if hungry, but parsnips are utterly loathsome to me. I have tried tripe and disliked it, but am OK with liver and kidney.

I haven't yet come across a food that would make me heave, but I don't think I would like to try fermented shark (an Icelandic speciality) or the fermented fish they eat in Norway.

Heaving at everyday foods is an extreme reaction though, and I would wonder if that person had an eating disorder.

Stillwishihadabs · 10/02/2018 09:46

Anything hot, sweet and milky ( custard, rice pudding, semolina etc) I can cope with pretty much anything else and love blue cheese, all seafood , black pudding and mushrooms 😀

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/02/2018 09:46

Yes my dislikes of food are more about texture

Anything wobbly or like puke (porridge, rice pudding, yogurt with fruit pieces in)

liz70 · 10/02/2018 09:49

"Custard. Think school dinners gave me a phobia of the stuff"

Like I said, I was a 70s child. Our primary school served the most foul, luke warm custard with a thick skin on the top from sitting around - shudder. My seven year old self flat out refused to eat it even when one bitch of a DL tried to force me. It went to the head mistress, and in the end my mum, to whom I 'd described this disgusting muck, came up to the school and told them that over her dead body would they make any child of hers eat it, or words to that effect. Can you imagine that happening today! Children being forced to eat vile "food" at school? Thank goodness we've moved on.

BustersBloodVessel · 10/02/2018 09:50

My grandad used to eat brains....🤮🤮 I can see them now on his plate.... just gross!!!

liz70 · 10/02/2018 09:59

"My grandad used to eat brains."

So did mine, way back in the 50s. He'd tuck into them each morning when on the boat to South Africa then New Zealand, when my then teenaged dad was feeling badly sea sick virtually every day of the voyage. Grandad would exhort my green faced dad to tuck into some as well, but oddly enough, he wasn't persuaded.

Teufelsrad · 10/02/2018 10:00

I deliberately let a skin form on custard. I love the texture of it.

liz70 · 10/02/2018 10:02

Stay away from me, you weirdo. Hmm

mydogmymate · 10/02/2018 10:03

Coffee, just the smell makes me want to 🤮. And it seems that every petrol station has a Costa machine, I have to hold my breath when I'm queuing to pay.

Gide · 10/02/2018 10:08

Lamb. Smells of death. Ugh.

Fat on meat makes me gag.

Whisky/bourbon, my dh is a big fan of the very high end stuff. I just don’t get it.

Sweetpea55 · 10/02/2018 10:18

Cod
Tripe
Octopus
Celeriac
Any other aniseedy /drink

Lethaldrizzle · 10/02/2018 10:18

Steak tartare

LoniceraJaponica · 10/02/2018 10:18

Oh yes, whiskey - vile stuff.

None of the foods I dislike make me gag though. Unless you have an intolerance why would it? Bad smells don't make me gag either. They are just unpleasant.

youngnomore · 10/02/2018 10:25

I absolutely love stake tartare.
I would eat anything apart from Quorn.
It’s vile . 🤮

Oliversmumsarmy · 10/02/2018 10:25

Any type of animal.
Pop corn
Candyfloss
Mushy peas
Creme caramel. Never tasted it but it just looks awful.
Any type of cake with fruit
Meringues
French mustard just because of the colour.
Christmas pudding. Even the smell makes me heave.

Someoneasdumbasthis · 10/02/2018 10:25

Jeez some seriously fussy eaters on here. How on earth do you ever go out for dinner or go to friends?

Only three for me
Goats cheese
Tinned fish
Kidneys.

Oliversmumsarmy · 10/02/2018 10:27

Tofu
And Chinese food. Literally never been to a Chinese restaurant where I haven't thrown up after. Not too sure why because I don't mind it.

Also Alcohol. Just why?

Littlecaf · 10/02/2018 10:29

Archers liquor

Although that might have been after an infamous night out during my student days.

Never again

Shouldershrugger · 10/02/2018 10:29

Sheep brain. My mum cooked it once. Many many years ago. I didn't know what it was that I was eating until my mum started laughing. Sadistic cow! When she told me finally, the sickness I felt is unimaginable. Needless to say I never trusted mum again.

RibenaMonsoon · 10/02/2018 10:29

Marzipan and anything with fresh coriander in. Thought of either of them makes me heave.

FoofFighter · 10/02/2018 10:30

Coriander leaf. Smells like cats pee and tastes like cat pee.

Ground coriander however is acceptable.

And rocket. Smells musty/mouldy.
