YorkshireBetty, it's chicken feet.

My list:

  • Chicken feet, hearts, intestines, gizzards, liver; an exception would be chicken liver pate
  • Stew made with pig's or other animal's congealed blood
  • Lamb's brains (tasted it in Barcelona), other animal brains
  • Bitter gourd
  • Anything with dried coconut
  • Grubs

I've tried crickets and mealworms as one offs (crispy hipster snacks), they were ok.

Capers. OMG they are disgusting. They turned up in a restaurant meal I had the other day - like little balls of nastily flavoured salt. It made the whole thing inedible.

I'm a vegetarian, I've grown lots of different veg in the past and still grow my own herbs. I'd love an allotment but can't afford plus disabled now and would struggle to farm veg or meat.

Money was tight growing up so from quite young we (siblings and I) were involved in growing veg in the garden. We were also taught which wild fruit, veg and fungi were safe to eat.

Rhubarb - one place we lived there was rhubarb already growing in the garden. Mum got paper bags and tore the corners off and filled with sugar, while dad fetched and cleaned the rhubarb, they showed us to dip the rhubarb in the sugar and eat - really yummy!

I'm scots, lentils definitely were a peasant food here but now using lentils is more a mc thing which my mum for one finds hilarious. She still sees lentils as a way to stretch the budget. She still makes lentil soup at least twice a week, it's delicious.

Baked beans are a good example of the "same" food looking and tasting COMPLETELY different in different countries. When living overseas it was one of the few things I'd go to the naafi for. (I think if you live in another country make an effort to enjoy the culture inc it's food). Others being marmite, tea bags and ex preferred British bacon and sausages.

I'm veggie and physically cannot eat meat, seafood or poultry but will eat most other things except liquorice,fennel, blue cheese and olives yuck

Baked beans...just no.

Peas cooked...fresh out of the garden and raw are yummy but cooked? Nope.

Jersey Royal potatoes. New potatoes that are floury are just wrong on all levels.

I actually really like caviar (well I think I mean those little suprmarket jars of fish eggs as cant afford the real thing!) Frozen petit pois are way better than other form of legume, whether fresh or frozen.
Still surprised no one else has commented on bone marrow or os de moelle - that is liquid snot.

Ochra. Slimy, slimy weirdness.

Pickled eggs. Wrong, just wrong.

Gin. Tastes like ear wax.

Marmite is rank, but I do like Vegemite.

Durian fruit, tastes ok but the smell, dear God the smell. Never again.

I've eaten/still eat - snails, frog's legs, oysters, caviar, olives, capers, sushi, lentils and lots of other stuff mentioned on this thread, so it's definitely different strokes for different folks.
