The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

Bump and one for the "Lady Dick" brigade. I won't pander to your delusions.

I’m feeling particularly frightened and outraged by this whole shit show given recent events in my own life.

Men in women’s spaces, toilets, prisons, hospital wards, sports clubs/competitions, taking scholarships for women, being on women only short lists because they say they are women. Its all such a terrifying potential assault on women’s rights.

But last week my 9 yr old daughter started her period. It hit home like a hammer that sex is not gender. It’s not a construct. It is a fact of life for girls. She is a talented diver who has just made the county diving squad, but had to miss training last week because of the biological fact of her bleeding and being too young to use tampons. Lily Madigan didn’t ever have that experience.

The sheer stupidity and lack of sensible discourse about this is frightening. It feels very much like being shouted down at by The Men as per usual.

Very, very worrying.

Graphista · 07/02/2018 17:28

It's an invasion of womanhood as far as I'm concerned

DoJo · 07/02/2018 18:27

I've filled it in and asked how on earth they can prosecute the offence of failing to abide by the declaration they have listed? A man can say he wants to be a woman, continue to have male genitalia etc and we are really supposed to believe that they will prosecute him for failing to live as his chosen 'gender' - how on EARTH will that happen?!

OvaHere · 07/02/2018 18:38

Have filled this in. Some of the wording was ridiculous, I feel I may have failed at not being sarcastic in places.

The way it was written feels very much like it is a done deal Sad

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 07/02/2018 18:41

Will come back when I have more time

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 07/02/2018 18:45

Thanks for flagging. One of my comments was that they have clearly only consulted with trans rights groups and seem to be trying to get his in by stealth.

I’ve also pointed out multiple times that male and female are sex terms and gender is how we are socialised.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/02/2018 18:47

Finally finished. I have gone back in 3 times after stopping due to toddler & my rage

You dont have to do all at once the save & return option worked very well.

Please complete
I have a 10 yr old Scottish swimmer & i want the open changing room she uses to contain female bodies only & that quite frankly is the very tip of the iceburg.

OP fab links thank you Flowers

ChoccyJules · 07/02/2018 18:49

Done.

HandbagKrabby · 07/02/2018 18:57

Done. I mainly did tick boxes and pointed out sex and gender aren’t the same thing - took a few mins Smile

astoundedgoat · 07/02/2018 19:15

Done - thank you for posting.

Anymajordude · 07/02/2018 19:17

Done.

Sometimes I think nobody understands the difference between sex and gender. It's so Emperor's New clothes and everyone is too scared of looking old fashioned and not right on. Sex segregated systems and areas aren't there because you like pink.

NoqontroI · 07/02/2018 19:27

Marking for later. Thanks for posting.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/02/2018 19:55

Not done yet, but will be doing at some point this week.

The Fairplay for women guide (linked in OP) I found very useful.

TheDayIBroke · 07/02/2018 20:00

Done

frenchfancy · 07/02/2018 20:03

Done. Pointed out that it will put and end to womens sport and put the feminist movement back by 100years. Hopefully someone on the committee is a real woman. If it is a committee of 12 with an equal gender split how do we know if 6 of them were actually born female and didn't decide it at a later date? Women will no longer have a say in womens rights.

I struggle with my strength of feeling tbh. I accept people for who they are. I make no judgement based on colour, sexual preference, religion, physical ability or even politics (within reason) but the trans issue has got right under my skin.

minipie · 07/02/2018 20:14

Done.

How on earth have we ended up in a world where if a man feels more like the female stereotype than the male stereotype, the conclusion is that the man must actually be female, rather than that the male stereotype is too narrow?

And how have so many missed the link between the stereotypes becoming narrower (due to marketing, media etc) and the rise of people deciding they are the "wrong" sex?

Akire · 07/02/2018 20:24

Thank you for link. Have added my small contribution. Was stunned on the How many times should someone be able to
Change sex question. Surely it’s once and once only forever.

That’s why it should be serious at least 18 and knowing that forever ever passport and official document will know call You her/miss and no changing your mind. If there’s any element of doubt then let’s broaden the definition of “man”

Know you can marry same
Sex and not civil partnoship. The only way a marriage could stand after a sex would be some
Sort of formally paper work, if you wanted to keep marriage legally going.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/02/2018 20:28

^Was stunned on the How many times should someone be able to
Change sex question^

Surely you don't want to discriminate against the gender fluid. Bigot. Wink

exLtEveDallas · 07/02/2018 20:31

Done and pointed out the difference between gender and sex at the start of every box FFS.
