The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

fairplayforwomen.com/scottish-consultation/

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

Somehow I don't think online or written activism will be enough in the end. Eventually we are probably going to have to be brave enough to take to the streets olden suffragette style regardless of intimidation. I can very much see history repeating itself.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 07/02/2018 21:23

k2P
So complete the consultation then, and get everyone who feels like you do to do it too

It's an SNP 'progressive' policy.

But it's regressive for women, girls and all children.

I don't give a fuck which party is proposing it.

If you do, there's an open goal there

NiteFlights · 07/02/2018 21:29

This is all such utter, utter bullshit. I have filled it in, not very articulately but I have done it. I feel enraged. How did this happen so fast, and how have so many people who should have decent critical thinking skills fallen for it?

It's bullshit!

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 07/02/2018 21:33

"utter, utter bullshit" is about the size of it

Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/02/2018 21:42

I think (would be happy to be corrected) that there is nothing to stop the same person completing this multiple times Confused as they simply ask you to provide name & email address.
How is this a valid form of data collection?

Magicmonster · 07/02/2018 21:59

Leyat - that article is so eloquently written and thought provoking. You have inspired me to respond to the consultation.

refusetobeasheep · 07/02/2018 22:18

Done

parklives · 07/02/2018 22:18

Done, mostly just ticking boxes, because even if I wasn't tired this evening anyway, I just can't help pinching myself to see if I'm dreamily all this.
I am out a bigot, but the idea that your spouse can change gender and you can't divorce them for that reason is another step to this balmy dystopia we seem to be heading to. Climate change and all the other problems out there we could be trying to deal with, but instead this is happening?!? WTF!

parklives · 07/02/2018 22:19

Sorry for all the typos! Very tired!

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 07/02/2018 22:20

Yes that appears to be a flaw waddle. You have to assume that it's not empirical in its data gathering.

And wonder how the reviewers will arrive at their outcome

DreamyMcDreamy · 07/02/2018 22:20

YANBU. Chilling stuff.

SuitedandBooted · 07/02/2018 22:22

Please fill in the form, and email your MP - this is going to completely erase women's rights, and plenty of people don't really care, as they either don't get it, or as a not-so-charming male acquaintance of mine said, it "Shifts all the queers in with the women - that's a win!"

Email your MP too at;

123bananas · 07/02/2018 22:25

Done, I have been following for weeks on the feminism boards. Well and truly peaked now.

colouringinagain · 07/02/2018 22:34

Marking for tomorrow...

Waddlelikeapenguin · 07/02/2018 22:34

And wonder how the reviewers will arrive at their outcome

Qualitative research is imo an art not a science & art is subjective ... although science is fucked anyway if women now includes people with penises Grin
conspiracy theorist DH thinks it's so they can look at the data before cut off & get a whole load extra completed if they need to

citykat · 07/02/2018 22:40

Done.

Surfandterf · 07/02/2018 22:50

I did the form online over a week ago. I hope they listen to all the comments coming in and don't just dismiss all of our worries/complaints.

Voice0fReason · 07/02/2018 22:55

Done - though very pissed off with the wording of some of those questions. And I had to read that one about should it be grounds for divorce several times as I couldn't quite believe that was a real question!

I used to be very supportive and inclusive of trans, but I cannot support this infringement on women's rights. Wear what you want, call yourself whatever name you want but your sex will always be the one that was observed at birth. And don't even think of allowing a penis in a female only space.

SuitedandBooted · 07/02/2018 23:15

BUMP

Gacapa · 07/02/2018 23:25

Done mine.
What a piece of dark and crazy shit. Barely coherent. Imbued with stupidity. (The consultation, not my responses Wink ).

mummybear701 · 07/02/2018 23:29

Just a thought. Aren't most outside Scotland who reply likely to be against the proposals as its those who will feel most affected, not those in favour in England and Wales? Not a criticism of anyone but the beaurocrats would see through that in an instant.

I've done it, I'm in Scotland and transgender people here are equally clamouring to simplify the system as they would do so in good faith. I basically said by all means but in no circumstances compromise womens spaces.

SuitedandBooted · 07/02/2018 23:30

Share this with your friends and family - and don't forget to introduce them to some of the lovely people who are shouting down any trans dissent, such as:

Danielle Muscato
Andi Dier
Lily Madigan
Tara Watson

And many, many more - look up #peaktrans on twitter

HelenaDove · 07/02/2018 23:45

This is a small point in the scheme of things but this is yet more proof that a womans sex life and sexual satisfaction doesnt matter.

"The bit about whether a self id change, should or not be grounds for divorce made my blood boil"
