I know this type of thread has probably been done to death, but someone on fb shared a daily fail link yesterday about the creepy things children sometimes say. It got me thinking about strange goings on.

My eldest dd at about the age of 2 was sat playing in her room while I was putting washing away in my room. She suddenly started screaming so I ran in thinking she had hurt herself and she was wide eyed with fear. I asked her what was wrong and she said while pointing I should add " there's a man with black eyes and a hat holding a baby" Confused

I've never walked out of a room so quickly ( backwards I should add so I didn't have to see the man) my cat also used to refuse to enter that room at all. Lots of other little things when she was pre school age.

For myself I kept smelling "death" I work in a hospital environment and do believe death or pre death to be more specific has a certain smell.
I was still living at home and for about a week everytime I walked in the front door I could smell death. Hmm
I still remember DM face everytime I announced it. Ha.
Towards the end of the week the smell was so strong. That evening I had a dream that I was in bed fast asleep and the whole house started to shake. I got up and looked out or the window to see an aeroplane about 12 feet away with people screaming at the window getting closer towards a block of flats ( there are no flats nearby)
The next day was September 11th.
I remember watching the news and thinking FUCKING hell. The dream.
Weirdly enough after that happened the smell of death went too. It still weirds me out when I think about it.
I also dreamt about the London/Birmingham riots a few years nack 2 days before they kicked off.

Do you have any odd stories to share?

When I was little I remember we were driving somewhere and down a street with houses with big bay windows. Mum dad me and my sis. I remember the car stopping to let other traffic or someone parking maybe 1min or so. I looked at one of the houses and in the window there was a boy maybe a teenager covered in blood on his head just looking so sad. It was so creepy I just stared back before asking my folks why the boy in the window keeps looking at me. Lo and behold they tell me not to be silly so obviously dont see anything. Then my sister pipes up 'but the boy is bleeding'. I think my parents thought we were being stupid kids but we were totally freaked and eveb now it just makes me feel cold to the bone.

Not scary but strange: I always get called Rachel. My name is not even close.

At work when dealing with clients, my colleagues would take phone calls and I'd hear them say "No there's no Rachel here" and I'd have to shout "It's me, they mean me!" which they always did.

British Gas, EE, HMRC, all telephone assistants ask "How can I help you today Rachel" when my name is written on the screen in front of them!

The most recent one was when we had an electrician round to the house (last week) to rewire and he spent the entire day calling me Rachel. I didn't bother correcting him, but what was even weirder was that I never actually told him my name. He was sent by an agency that my husband contacted and wouldn't have known it.

People just see me and think 'Rachel'. Just saying, what with all this talk of past lives!

First one is my mum’s rather than mine. She was going on holiday and at that time she didn’t have much money, so had saved for ages. She went to climb on the mini bus and had a really terrible feeling, she says she just knew if she got on that bus then she wouldn’t be coming back. The people she was with were really cross as they didn’t want to leave her behind and it ended up in a big argument and none of them going. The bus crashed on the way there and a few people were seriously injured.

The one that creeps me out more is that since childhood I have had the same dream repeatedly, sometimes once a month and sometimes once a year or less. I am walking through a field towards an old house. There is something truly awful about it. Boarded up windows and a red door. I started quite a way from the house but I get closer each time I have the dream. Well I was in a sleep study a few years back and I mentioned to my mother. She said I should ask them about the weird dream she has been having for years. She is walking up a hill towards an old creepy house with boarded up windows and each time she gets closer. I immediately asked her if the door was red and she said that she doesn’t know because in her dream the door is open and it’s black inside. She said she feels like when she gets to that door something bad will happen. It freaked me out because I had never told her about my dream and vice verse, but we have been having a similar dream for years, it is just hers is further on than mine.

I have loads of weird things happen to me but this happened today. I was cleaning in the kitchen singing "don't you want somebody to love" by Jefferson airplane. I had the music channel on tv on a low volume in the other room. I suddenly had the compulsion to go and see which song was on the tv at that moment - stopped mopping the kitchen to go and have a look for what reason I don't know - and it was the band 'starship' singing "nothing's gonna stop us now" from the film mannequin. I watched the video for a second and then realised the woman singer the band was none other than Grace SLick, the lead singer of Jefferson airplane who's song (which she wrote) I'd just been bloody humming!! I had no idea she was in starship too, indeed I'd never even heard of starship! Daft but weird stuff like that happens to me often, just coincidences and deja vu...

I was young. Maybe 7? Leaning out through my bedroom window. It was a hive old Victorian sash window. I had a funny feeling and pulled my head inside. 2 seconds later it crashed closed. Would have seriously hurt or even killed me if I'd still been sticking my head out!

New both times I got pregnant the second we finished DTD. Right both times. New the sex both times as well.

Quite often someone will say can I ha e a word or I've got something to tell you and I always know what they are about to say.

Walking down a street in London and it reminded me of where my brother had had his birthday party (somewhere totally different). Walked round the corner and bumped into him.

I always think of people I haven't seen for ages and then bump into them somewhere totally random.

My gran died. I was really upset and driving down the motorway to see my father. Tears streaming down my face. Not safe really. I had this strange sense of something. This made me pull over and the sense got stronger and then hugely calming. I knew it was her. She calmed me down and I drove on totally at peace.

I think DD has a bit of it too. She talks about picking me over the other mummy as I looked the kindest.

About 20 years ago, my husband came home unexpectedly (I didn't hear his van and he was a bit early), he came into the living room and told me about how he'd met Seamus McThingummy at the cattle sale, and Seamus was selling a cracking sheepdog puppy so could he have £400 to buy it. I gave him a short list of the reasons that no, I wouldn't actually (8 months pregnant, couldn't afford it, no way was I having a baby and a puppy at the same time etc). He looked disappointed but said he understood and went to the kitchen, I thought to make a cup of tea. No tea arrived so I assumed he's gone out to look at the sheep. His van pulled up a while later and he came back in and everything went as usual.

The next day, he came home and started telling me about the cattle sale and how he'd met his old mate Seamus McThingummy. I interrupted and said "I told you yesterday, I am not paying £400 for a bloody puppy!" and he looked really shocked. He was absolutely certain that he hadn't said anything the day before, because the cattle sale hadn't happened then, it was on the second day.

Just in case anyone asks, no, he didn't get the puppy!

Not long after my great grandad died, we had a funeral.

Went back to my nans house for the wake.

I was only little, just under 4

I wanted to go upstairs (according to my mum) and was crying because I wasn't allowed "grandad told me I'm not allowed upstairs"

Freaked the hell out of my mum

Enidthecat · 07/02/2018 19:34

I woke up terrified having dreamt about people running and screaming, could smell burning so much so when i woke up I checked my entire house. Next morning I hears about the Manchester bombing on the news. Awful. I felt almost guilty that is imagined it and then it happened.

I woke up late one night convinced our house phone was ringing, asked DH to check but nothing, no missed calls or messages.
Couldn’t get back to sleep, told DH I felt something wasn’t right.
In the morning my Dad called to say beloved Nan had passed away, at the exact same time I thought I’d hesrd the phone ringing in the night Confused

AlwaysDancing1234 · 07/02/2018 20:35

Also the times DS talked about the two babies in my tummy before My pregnancy was even confirmed. I only found out there had been twins when I miscarried one.
To this day I have no idea how DS knew I was carrying twins Sad

My son had a dream about a banshee. Shrugged it off and five minutes later got a call from my brother her that the doctors had told my mum there was nothing more they could do for her and to come and say our goodbyes. I knew she was in hospital but was not expecting that. She didn't actually die that day, she died eleven days later.

Boatsonthewater · 07/02/2018 20:55

i had a relationship in my teens which was extremely intense and life changing. I had not seen this person in thirty years, but one day I woke up and felt a white energy coming towards me and touching me. I knew it was this person connecting with me, and I knew that if I went on friends reunited (still active at that time) I could connect with them. I switched on the computer and I absolutely knew that the name would be there. It was, and i made contact after thirty years. It was an absolute certainty. I also had a dream about the same person
which they had at the same time, and mentioned the detail.

Teddy1970 · 07/02/2018 21:07

Not really woo, but I had a friend at college who could imitate Ragan's voice from the Excorsist, it scared the crap out me and it really sounded like her..he used to prank people in the dark with it...bastard.

FallenAngel89 · 07/02/2018 21:11

@Teddy1970 that sounds terrifying Blush

LucyAutumn · 07/02/2018 21:13

I had three dreams while I was pregnant that I had my baby early.
I was always vaguely aware that I was dreaming/ being warned because I would be desperately trying to find out the date. Finally, on the final dream, I was leaving the hospital and noticed a calendar indicating it was the 15th.
-My baby was due the same month as my birthday and this date was also not long after so I became confused in the dream, asking "what happened to my birthday?!".
I told my work colleagues about the dreams and we were all very nervous/ careful when the 15th arrived the month before my due month, then all was forgotten... until, my waters broke pre labour just after my birthday and baby arrived on the 14th.
I didn't think about the dream until a month later when it struck me that the day we left the hospital was indeed the 15th!
I'd had a pretty complicated birth which ended in an emergency csec but I'd managed to remain calm throughout because I'd had a 'feeling' things were not going to go according to plan and it would end this way so had warned my DH!

I feel like the dreams were a vision that helped pull me through an otherwise completely traumatic birth.

Teddy1970 · 07/02/2018 21:14

It was FallenAngel89 I'm not sure how he did it, but it can't have done his voice any good!

sparklepops123 · 07/02/2018 21:16

We absolutely lived in a haunted house as kids, I shared a bedroom with my older sis , she asked my mum one morning ( mother not the maternal type ) why she was stroking my head in the middle of the night?turns out SHE wasn’t

Busybeesbutt · 07/02/2018 21:17

My grandmother died unexpectedly when I was 14. I wasn't a tactile child at all but the last time I saw her a voice said you'll never see her again so I hugged and kissed her. She was shocked by that lol
Silly ones like I nearly parked on a single yellow but didn't as I had a strong feeling a traffic warden would come. When I came back to my car traffic wardens had booked all those on a single yellow. Also sensing someone is pregnant is one of mine but never get the sex right lol

Notthesoap · 07/02/2018 21:34

I should not have read the OP in my bed in the dark! Confused

loulou82 · 07/02/2018 21:39

On September 10th 2001 I borrowed my boyfriends album Busta Rhymes 'Extinction level event'

I woke up on September 11th 2001 with the weirdest most un nerving feeling and was compelled to look at the front cover of this album I had borrowed. If you're not familiar with the artwork, it shows Manhatten up in flames. I couldn't work out why this image was making me feel so awful that morning.

Later that day it all became apparent. Was the weirdest thing to ever happen to me.

SantaClauseMightWork · 07/02/2018 21:42

For one of my closest relatives, I knew the night before he died and told my husband right away that this relative is going to pass today. They were terminally ill but unstable and I had no contact with them and didn't even know they were terminal. I just dreamt about them. I didn't even see them in pain. Just doing normal chat with our extended family. The next evening, I got this text from my sister telling me he had died that morning. Freaked my husband right out.

Halebeke425 · 07/02/2018 21:43

Ok this still weirds me out

A few years ago I was on my way to meet a friend in a nearby town and for some unknown reason a particular celebrity popped into my head and I just had a really strong feeling I was going to bump into them that day. It was totally random, the place in question is not particularly associated with the celebrity and it was weird for me to be randomly thinking about them so strongly, I only had a passing interest in this person.

Anyway wouldn't you know it, not one hour later I was stood face to face with them! I was so shocked, partly to be seeing this person in real life but mostly that I'd already known I was going to! I actually said to them 'I had a dream I would meet you here' as I didn't know how else to say it and they laughed and we took a photo together. I wish I'd said something else really but I was just so shocked. Things like that don't normally happen to me!

Imnotposhjustquaint · 07/02/2018 21:47

I’m getting chills .....

Like many other on here, I will often have someone’s name pop up in my head, usually someone I haven’t seen for a while, then I will see them within a day, this happens VERY often, not unusual for it to happen once a week. For example, last week I was doing my weekly food shop, I’d just loaded all of my shopping into my car and was taking my trolley back when I noticed a woman, she had her back to me but had really nicely, curled and highlighted hair. Straight away I thought of one of my old secondary school teachers (whom I hadn’t seen since I’d left, over 10 years ago). Anyway put my trolley back and as I was walking back to my car who should drive into the car park but my teacher!!

Another ‘strange’ incident happened while I was pregnant with my first baby and on my way to my the 20 week scan. I was absolutely convinced I was having a boy, I’d have put money on it. Anyway, my DP and I had picked out a girls name and a boys name. So for instance Florence for a girl and Isaac for a boy and we’ll say that DP’s surname is Tate.

Anyway we’re in the car on the way to our scan and DP says ‘do you still think we’re having a boy?’ I replied that I was still absolutely certain that it was a boy and DP ‘well, we’ll be finding out very soon in any case.’ Right at that moment a van drives past us with ‘F. Tate’ in big black letters on the bonnet. I looked at DP and said ‘erm, I think we’re having a girl.’ And the sonographer at the hospital confirmed I was. You kind of had to be there to appreciate the strangeness of it.
