I know this type of thread has probably been done to death, but someone on fb shared a daily fail link yesterday about the creepy things children sometimes say. It got me thinking about strange goings on.

My eldest dd at about the age of 2 was sat playing in her room while I was putting washing away in my room. She suddenly started screaming so I ran in thinking she had hurt herself and she was wide eyed with fear. I asked her what was wrong and she said while pointing I should add " there's a man with black eyes and a hat holding a baby" Confused

I've never walked out of a room so quickly ( backwards I should add so I didn't have to see the man) my cat also used to refuse to enter that room at all. Lots of other little things when she was pre school age.

For myself I kept smelling "death" I work in a hospital environment and do believe death or pre death to be more specific has a certain smell.
I was still living at home and for about a week everytime I walked in the front door I could smell death. Hmm
I still remember DM face everytime I announced it. Ha.
Towards the end of the week the smell was so strong. That evening I had a dream that I was in bed fast asleep and the whole house started to shake. I got up and looked out or the window to see an aeroplane about 12 feet away with people screaming at the window getting closer towards a block of flats ( there are no flats nearby)
The next day was September 11th.
I remember watching the news and thinking FUCKING hell. The dream.
Weirdly enough after that happened the smell of death went too. It still weirds me out when I think about it.
I also dreamt about the London/Birmingham riots a few years nack 2 days before they kicked off.

Do you have any odd stories to share?

Interesting what you said babyspider, I've had a similar experience.

My husband is a Bookworm and has hundreds of books on his ipad. He will often read quietly in bed while I'm fast asleep. A while ago I woke up quite shaken after a horrible nightmare. I told my husband about it who was awake reading and described how id woken up just as the bomb was about to go off for example. I had somehow dreamt his book and woken up at the exact point he was reading about the bomb going off.

It's happened a few times now . I wonder if he mumbles as he reads and my sleeping brain is listening.

My 4 year old selectively mute daughter freaked me out a couple of weeks ago.
The selective mutism is relevant, as she struggles to tell us things if she's anxious.

But one morning my partner called her name from her door to wake her, she got put of bed and looked into the corner and started walking towards it with a confused look on her face.
Her dad called her name and said "this way silly"
She kind of snapped out of it and said "grandads there"
So I asked her what she meant.
She said "grandad. Your daddy, mummy, it's grandad"

It wasn't grandad as I spoke to my dad just to check he wasn't dead (haven't seen him since christmas)

My best guess is it was my grandad, my dad's dad. My dad is like a clone of him so it's understandable she would mistake him for being her grandad.

HerRoyalFattyness · 07/02/2018 07:22

I also dream things are going to happen before they do, and I know when people are pregnant and what sex the baby is.

Fintress · 07/02/2018 08:35

Last night when I said I wasn't reading anymore, I logged off and was contemplating going to bed when a noise started up. We have a big glass globe type light that sits on the floor and it sounded as someone was flicking their fingers against it. Most likely innocuous but I was freaked the hell out. I literally ran to bed and jumped in Grin.

LastNightMyWifeHooveredMyHead · 07/02/2018 09:25

I've "seen" several disasters on news flashes on television in the past - Lockerbie for one - several days before they happen: it's very weird - normal news bulletin, it seems. Mention it to family - did you hear etc: and then no sign on the next bulletin etc A day or two later, it would happen. I haven't had anything like this since for about 20 years: so nothing in the era of 24 hour rolling news...

Love these threads

Whatalife45 · 07/02/2018 09:31

Not scary but weird.
I was sat on my bed around 5pm and just looked to the left and a few inches from the ground light grey mist was floating across the room and went under the bed.
I wasn’t scared,I felt so peaceful.

Whatalife45 · 07/02/2018 09:31

P.s I wasn’t drunk I was drinking a cuppa and watching the chase Grin

FallenAngel89 · 07/02/2018 09:46

I often feel some sit on my bed beside my legs, a psychic actually said, "Your Grandma sometimes comes to your room and sits beside you". It's quite comforting as it usually happens when I've been feeling down 😊

Twelve years ago, bad accident on M1 on a Friday evening it was closed for hours, I heard this on local radio and I just knew it was someone from work, but more specifically someone from Sales.

No further news on the accident, all weekend and I'd purposely listened to local radio.

At work on Monday morning I told my colleague (who was unaware of the accident) I asked her to look in Sales to see if anyone was missing, they weren't- phew I'm not a weirdo after all.

Two hours later my boss rang and asked me to nip in his office, the lady in charge of Sales Daugher had been killed in the accident on the M1 on Friday night.

A few other things over the years I'll post again when I have more time.

When I was 17 my best friend had cancer.
One night I dreamt we were at school, and I was trying to catch up with her going up the stairs in the maths block. I could see her legs but I couldn't catch her, I kept calling her name but she kept going higher (Much higher than the actual block was in real life!)
I woke with this horrid sinking feeling, I couldn't shift it all day at college, and then when I went past her house the vicars car was outside and I just knew.
I rang her house when I got home and she had passed over night.
This was 21 years ago and I can remember the dream like it was last night.
Never had it happen since.

LakieLady · 07/02/2018 10:04

Twenty years ago, the man who had been my best friend for over 20 years died suddenly. We were very close, more like brother and sister, and I was devastated.

For several days after his death, I kept smelling his smell: not a BO smell or anything, just his natural body smell. It was very disturbing, and very powerful.

About a week after his death, I had the most incredibly vivid dream about him. In the dream, he just sort of appeared in my kitchen. We said hello, and I offered him a coffee. He said "No thanks, I don't eat or drink any more". We chatted for a while, and then he said "I've got to go now, but it's ok", and that's all I can remember.

After that dream, I never smelt him again.

Commuterface · 07/02/2018 10:04

I've dreamed about my children before getting pregnant with them.

My mum had this with me. All of my family have brown eyes but when my mum was a few weeks pregnant with me she had a dream that she had this baby girl with the most beautiful, bright blue eyes. She didn't think for a moment that it was her baby because a) she didn't know she was pregnant and b) she would never of imagined that she could have a baby with bright blue eyes. Anyway 8 months later she had me with my very blue eyes.

YesitsJacqueline · 07/02/2018 10:10

My ds who is nearly 4 keeps telling my mum " I looked after you when you were a baby , Nanny. You didn't need glasses then cos you were just a baby ".
And he'll mention places he's been to and where he lived "before you were born mummy " !
We lost my grandma in November she lived in Italy and ds had only seen her a handful of times. I think about her a lot but don't mention it. The other night I was taking him up to bed and she'd been on my mind that very minute he said out loud " bye Nonna!"
He is woo.

thereinmadnesslies · 07/02/2018 10:14

We checked my mum into hospital the night before an operation. She walked from her bed to the bathroom and I had the strongest sense that I would never see her walk again. Stupidly I silenced myself thinking I was just being anxious. The operation went wrong, and after months in a coma she was left paraplegic.
There’s been other moments like that. It scares me and I try not to think about stuff for fear of it coming true.

MissionItsPossible · 07/02/2018 10:22

I find these threads comforting but also an overwhelming sense of sadness

ftmtb · 07/02/2018 10:22

My mum told me that when my older sister was about 3 or 4 my parents took her to this park that none of them had ever been to before, quite an old place,
My sister knew her way around the park saying things like 'if we go round there we'll see a fountain' and there was!

When my younger brother was about the same age he said 'mummy do you remember when I was a little girl and you weren't my mummy'

I often have feelings about things where someone who I've not seen/spoke to in a long time will pop into my head randomly and then they will pop up in my life!

I found out I was pregnant when I was only 2 weeks gone, completely unplanned and unexpected, a shock! but for 2 weeks all I had talked about was babies and how I felt I was ready, as if I did actually already know in a way!

I also had loads of dreams about my baby being a boy, and he is!

FilledSoda · 07/02/2018 10:30

Fascinating thread , I have a couple but they are so outing

HelgasFlowers · 07/02/2018 10:48

A couple of years ago, someone who was absent from my life came into a dream I was having. At the end of it we were all going our separate ways and he suddenly kissed me and said, ‘I’m staying with you.’

I hadn’t thought about him for a while so looked him up only to discover he had passed away a week before.

That stayed with me for a long time.

Also, whenever I visit my sisters grave or talk to her, there will be a warm gust of wind. I don’t know whether I’m looking for it but it makes me feel safe.

hollowtree · 07/02/2018 10:52

When I was 2-3 years old my DM used to drive us both to my Auntie's house in North Wales. I loved talking and would sit and chat to myself for hours.

After one long afternoon of making conversation with myself, I came downstairs and was asked what I had been playing. So I told them "I haven't been playing, I was talking to the big grey dog on the landing".

The dog was their Irish Wooflhound who had been found dead on the landing after a house fire that had happened while they were out. This had happened before I was born and no one had told me about him.

In fact they didn't tell me about this until I was a teenager! Throughout my childhood I had had the most terrifying recurring dreams of being chased by a huge burning dog, and had an imaginary pet dog called Patch. Because of the white patch on his chest.

Like my Auntie's dog. Its always freaked the whole family out.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 07/02/2018 10:53

These are all amazing but some are so sad.

Something else comes to mind. Just after Christmas I dreamt of a friend/colleague who I haven't seen for a while due to incompatible shift patterns.
In this dream she was sat in front of me on the floor sobbing. Really harrowing sobs.

I text her the next day just to check in and I was feeling uneasy about the dream. The day before, the day of my dream, she had buried her dad who died unexpectedly before Christmas. Wasn't common knowledge and she hadn't told anyone about his death.
I just thought at the time how odd to dream of her sobbing and screaming the day she buried her dad.

I had a dream about my big brother one night. We hadn't seen each other for a while. This is going to sound so cliche but it happened. In my dream, we were sat in a cafe. He was wearing a white suit, haloed in light. He looked so happy, so content (after three tours in Iraq, it was rare he would look so content) and kept telling me he was fine, happy where he was, would see me again one day. That he would always be there for me. I kept asking him where he was but he wouldn't answer. I felt confused but happy for him. The next day I found out he had died in a freak accident. That conversation we had keeps me safe - because I know he's okay.

monkeysee100 · 07/02/2018 11:07

I have tons!!

I've not long moved into an older house which wasn't entirely a residential property when it was built (100 or so years). I've moved in with extended family. Not going into detail as very outing.

I had a nap downstairs in a room that was previously part of the workplace. I half awoke to someone walking past with a long dress, holding an item I didn't really recognise. I thought it was a family member but realised when I woke up properly that they wouldn't/didn't walk through. A little internet sleuthing and I found the very same item which is quite associated with the profession which occupied the building, right down the the same colour as my dream or whatever it was.

I also used to live in a house which had a weird smell and I used to keep seeing things out of the corner of my eye, out of the living room into the hall. In my mind's eye it was a pale, crouched figure with dark hair and clothes. This happened many times. A housemate, weeks later said he thought he had seen my sister in there several times- she is very short, dark and pale. I also heard running up the stairs when I was alone in bed and my housemate heard someone behind him (there was a solid wall) say 'you know what I am don't you?' Awful place!

I dreamt my friend had her baby on a particular day and a particular time- she went into labour then.

I spent a lot of time during my childhood in a family member's home. It was old and huge and there was one long dark hall I hated and felt like something would chase me if I turned around.

After many years, I was talking to my sister and mother and we all had the same sensation of hating that hallway and not being able to look back.

monkeysee100 · 07/02/2018 11:13

My daughter said I was pregnant before I knew and she often mentions the mummy she had 'before' I was her mummy. She clams up if I ask too much.

Boatsonthewater · 07/02/2018 11:46

What is interesting is how many children have spoken about past lives. This is something that fascinates me.
